HELP ME Please.I am SO Confused!! Amazon Review Sites

OK. So I am trying my hand at Amazon review site. I have the one main article written by my VA. It is 800 words. Then she reviewed some 2 other products of the same brand we are promoting. Now I have 3 questions. 1.What other type of content should I have on the site? More reviews of products OR Informational articles about the niche in general? 2. When we post the articles to the blog, do we also submit the same article to the article directories? 3. Does each and every article need backlinks? I purchased a course, I hured the VA am now I am paying her and I thought I had this all figured out, but the more I read , the more confused I get. Thanks so much. Ann

Personally, I never would've hired someone else to write such a short article. You can turn out 800 words in 20-30 minutes if you know a little about the product (or if you have the Amazon product page open and read through it before you start writing).

You have to decide what you're trying to build. Are you wanting a full, mega-authority site, or are you wanting to build a bunch of little sniper sites? Both work and work well. Mega-sites take time to build...you might not see a profit for 6-12 months. Sniper sites can turn a profit in 7-21 days. It just depends on what you want to do.

I can generally do a 500 word article in 10 minutes and a 1000 word article in 20-25 minutes. No matter the size, I spend 10-15 minutes (max) on research. I've yet to produce a single article that people didn't find high quality.

A combination of both is usually best. Keep a reader busy but stay focused on the products and niche as well.

If you want. Article directories aren't worth much these days. You're better off writing the articles, having someone on Fiverr convert them to video, and submitting those.

    Yes.

This is a really pain in the ass part of SEO, but inner page linking is so huge. If each inner page even just gets 20 or 30 links from another site, this is a game changer.

thank you for your respose. the va writes four articles a day. I just don't know what to have her write. I prefer to do small sites that I can monetize quickly so I can justify the cost of the va in the first place.

    1. It depends on your site. Do you single niche, single product site, OR a single niche multi product site. For instance if your niche was WATCHES, you can have posts based on different types and brands of watches. If you niche was CASIO WATCHES, you'll have posts on Casio Watches. If your site is a single product like the Casio Men's AE1000W-1BVCF then, you'll have posts on a specific model with different keywords. So one article would target the keyword "Casio Men's AE1000W-1BVCF", the 2nd article would target keyword Casio AE1000W-1BVCF"...it all depends on your keyword research.

    2. You don't really need to post them to article directories. You just need to make sure each article have your keywords that you target (on page SEO).

    3. Yes, each page or post within your site will need to have backlinks in order for you to rank them.

OK.. but heres my problem. I doing a review site. i bought the brand+review.com Now I am reviewing individual products the brand makes. But In creating titles.. Like the Casio Watch Example is this a good title: "Casio Men's AE1000W-1BVCF"or should it be something like " Dont buy Casio Men's AE1000W-1BVCF until you read this" or Casio Men's AE1000W-1BVCF: My Review or Casio Men's AE1000W-1BVCF Discounts I think Im having a hard time, because th Google keyword tool is lisitng a bunch of model names as keyword searches, but im having difficulty trying to create article titles

In a nutshell, your article title should contain the keywords you're trying to target. For example, if I wanted to target "The Wonderful World of JaRyCu" as my keyword, then that would the the title of my post/page as well.

Hi, i am thinking i could be helpful a little bit here. Try long tail keywords which have less competition in them. I am not sure if you have any tool to check the competition for your keywords. You better get some kind of tool to check the number of backlinks that your competitor has for that particular keyword in that way you know how many links do you exactly need for that particular keyword to outrank your competitor. Longtail keywords like "Casio Men's AE1000W-1BVCF Silver-Tone and Black Digital Sport Watch" will have less competition and would be very easy to rank on the first page of the google in that way you can get more traffic but it is always wise to know how much backlinks your competitor has so that you can build a little more backlinks than your competition and get your traffic coming.

Try to target longtail keywords that has minimum 100 searches per month so that you can have a good traffic flow to your site and maximize the earnings and cover your article expenses. It's just not long tail however each long tail should carry decent amount of searches so that you can gain more earnings. After you have finished your article you can direct the visitor to your promo product and increase your earnings.

If you did this, expect a cease and desist from the trademark holder. Amazon also forbids trademark infringement.

You are far better off buying a generic domain name (that you can build your own brand around) and reviewing multiple products.

Forget EMDs (exact-match domains). They are far more trouble than they are worth in the long run.

I have to agree wit Wolf here, you can get into trouble with the product owner, amazon, and you site can get penalized by G too. So choose a different domain and aim for long term.

Thank you. That was good advice. I think I am overthinking this, like I always do. i will definelty begin with checking out the competition. I installed SEO for Firefox which I think does that well.

For starters, what happens to your CanonPowerShotSX260review.com domain when when the Canon PowerShot SX260 is no longer in stock or unavailable?

What happens when you grow and have 100 of these sites? How are you going to maintain them all in a cost-effective manner?

None of the sites I build are EMD and virtually all of them rank extraordinarily well. As a matter of fact, my newest site is a week or so old and most of the product reviews are already ranking on page one. No EMD necessary.

I don't like those terms either. I want repeat traffic to the sites I build. What kind of domain are people more likely to trust: a brandable name like TDTechTalk.com or underwatercameras.com.

      I prefer brandable domains.

But it went against my better judgement... Duh... Ill get another domain name. Thanks for the heads up.

    Hi,

I try to make money with amazon, but I'm not a top notch product review writer, many people say: "when you can not write top notch product reviews, no any people will buy at your website", is that true?

Better I try to put interesting amazon products or from partner programs in the sidebar as a textlink who is link direct to the amazon product page or merchant sales page, that is easier for me to write top notch product reviews.
So perhaps I will make little lesser conversions as top notch reviews , but I make conversions.

Many affiliates only have on their home page or product page, a little description about the product and link direct to the merchant sales pages, not long long product reviews and they make money.

    best wishes

That's not necessarily true. Some people make money with crappy content, I see it everyday.

However, it all depends on what you're trying to accomplish. Are you trying to build a respectable site that will eventually become an authority, or just another review farm waiting to get slapped?

I prefer to keep my sites only Amazon promotional based. My goal is to simply drive the visitors to Amazon and let them do the converting.

    Hi,

@Chris Moore, yes I will build respectable sites, my reviews (expensive fitness products over 500$) are most more like an desscription (500-700 words) then an big detailed more than 1200 word product review at the end I put 5-6 some more links to amazon bestseller, so like Darren Rowse on his photography site.

Question: Is traffic form zemanata and yahoo good target traffic that convert woth adsense and amazon products?

I'm 5 months into my effort with my first review site. All the affiliate links are to Amazon. I chose a sub-niche. Each of my reviews are average 1000 words.

I'm building backlinks to each one, but I'm finding that Google ranks my homepage way above everything else.

This is my best month, but it is still meager...
    - 13% click through to Amazon
    - 4% conversion at Amazon
    - $116 earnings, month to date

I'm thinking of supplementing with additional offers, but I'm nervous about cluttering the page.

Those are the stats I'm looking for with my project. Don't mean to bump in, but I have a quick question - what made you decide for 1000 words? My reviews are 250-300 words of unique content, and then a brief product description, (another 100 words) and that's about it. I feel that I can get everything said in 300 words, and after that my writing starts to feel spammy. What's your experience on this?

I targeted 1000 words based on the comments here on WF. I'm hoping it gives the site more legitimacy in Google's eyes.

You are not only reviewing the product, but the individual features. Using the Casio example above, you can get 50-100 words just describing how easy it is to press the buttons for small fingers vs big fingers. Those little usability details really help (I think).

I will certainly incorporate those 'usability details' into my writings, though my product might be very similar to those Casio Watches in that after awhile all the products are pretty much identical except for minor things. After writing dozens of product pages they start to feel like the same product; and that's exactly what I'm trying to minimize, the feeling of the same content throughout the entire site!

Do you think, let's say now, 400 words will be a deal breaker as far as having an authoritative page, or is it more of a personal preference thing?

Informational articles about the niche in general. If you want an example, my camping site from my sig is monetized (or will be soon - I started it a couple days ago) by Amazon sales. But, the majority of articles are informational in nature.

Not to advertise my site at all... I am merely trying to provide an example.

      Hi,

Jay F; with your stats, to make 116$ in month, how many traffic you need to make this amount for 1 webpage???

      What I not so understand in the amazon affiliate busness model is this;

" if you put a keyword with 100 search volume you get easy rankk and get decent traffic"....

In this example CanonPowerShotSX260review a 1 page single webpage, so how I make a few sales when I have only 100 visitors in month, who only go 15% goes to the amazon product page (ctr)??
That is what I not so understand in this business model, perhaps anyone can explain me that a little bit please.

If you get 4% commission you need around $3,200 in shipped sales at Amazon to make that money. Determine the cost of the product and your conversion rate to decipher the rest.

I wouldn't put so much focus on those kind of stats. It's impossible to say how much traffic you need to make $116 in a month from one webpage because it depends on many factors such as the price of the products, the popularity of your niche, the quality of your pre-selling, etc..

If you have targetted traffic you can make a few sales even with only 100 visitors a month because the searchers are highly interested in the product they typed in.

The camera you mentioned (CanonPowerShotSX260) would only give a commision of about $10 because cameras are capped at a 4% commision, but some cameras are much more expensive so if you're interested in the camera niche focus on cameras costing over $500.

Product comparisons are a good idea for sites like this as well. Consumers are becoming more aware of the bogus "reviews" that people are hired to write. Product comparisons, however, allow you to pitch two products, to be objective and position your site as an authority site rather than a site just out to post bias reviews and to make a buck.

    HI

thanks for that information, yes cameras are capped to 4% amazon comissions, so when I have not so high but target traffic lets say 100-200 visitors in month from related niche sites likes blogs, forums and so on, this will work better with a one page money site and a good clickbank product who pays 25-35$ comission per sale.

Build mini niche money sites and get related niche traffic -this model will work better than with mini sites and amazon.

To make more than 100$ in month with high priced amazon eletronic products in the 500-900$ price range I must build websites with 20,30,40 product review pages, or with only 1 product review page, but 20,30,40 related articles as posts, perhaps as content curation that can be work with only little written own opinions.
But build 20,30,40 800 words written product reviews, that is an huge investment-to huge for that 100$ income for 1 niche website, such good product writers who write good convert content costs between 12-25$ per 800 words review, so multiple this for 20,30 webpages, its an huge investment.

Better I focus on mini niche money sites (only 1 website page) with target traffic and make money with good cb products.

800 words isn't necessary. 500 words is sufficient for most products. If you buy reviews in bulk, you might be able to get a discount from some content providers. iWriter is worth considering because the rates are low and once you've found a good writer you can choose them each time.

CB might be better for some people, but I heard that list building is important for that because CB products don't have the same trust factor associated with them as Amazon does, plus CB products usually have a higher refund rate than Amazon.

I would aim for 1,000 words minimum - Google loves this sort of content.

Aim for a large authority site, you will need to work hard on getting the articles created but with a good amount of content SEO should not be that hard and you should start to see some profit within a month or two
