How Many Switched From Google Since New Policy

Starting 03/01/12, Google is going to start releasing all of it's info to the Government. That's a big no-no in my book.

Bing said it's doing the complete opposite. They don't hold any records for more than 24 hrs (correct me if I'm wrong).

Apple is also switching to Bing for their "Maps".

Bing is also quicker with loading Maps and loading pics on a computer.

Does this mean the slow fall of Google?

  • I dont know, but it doesn't mean the slow death of my business.
  • I am certain that this is a symptom of the start of the slow fall for Google.

When the trust and technological innovativeness disappears, Google is just another giant company that will render itself broken because of greed.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • For me . . . I am out. Google has gotten too big for anyone but Corps. to mess with IMHO.
  • time to say bye bye Google... Good riddance...

I think we're forgetting the FTC, the EU, and the state of Ohio too. At some point all of this is going to concern shareholders.

Maybe not 20% overnight, but you get the idea. Google's arrogance is going to be their downfall if they don't change their ways.
  • Thats no surprise. We are now quickly being conditioned not expect any privacy.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • By the way is this really true? Source?
  • Releasing what exactly?

In google search, I have found emails of a person who charges $70,000 for one hour speech. I was searching for something else.

    • lol... Everything.

Not much has actually changed; and this blog post does a pretty good job of highlighting that. Something to be wary of? Always. People should pay attention to what information is known about them and how it is used. Is this new privacy policy the end of the world? NO. They are just putting into practice something you already agreed to let them do years ago.
  • We only have to wait and see the turn of events. Google though has become too big to be lose grasp of their search engine game.
  • I dont think too many people are too deterred about Google's new privacy policy. You'd be surpirise at how many people think that the government spies on them anyway. Other people just turn a blind eye and keep doing what they were doing before. The amount of people who stop using Google is not going to be enough to impact their business. Google is just doing what they have been talking about for years.
  • I stopped using my gmail addy and got a yahoo.ca addy for my online throw away addy, I am tired of google keeping track of what I am doing. I dont use google to search anymore, I found duckduckgo.com. Dumb name but it works well.

I have a real problem with intrusive things like google.
