Webinar question: Send to Sale Page or Shopping Cart?

I am hosting automated webinars with an offer at the end to join my membership site (I do real estate coaching.)
Should I send them to a sale page with more information or directly to the membership registration page? I know marketers say to send people to a shopping cart, but it seems to me that when it comes to coaching, they might want to read more about it before buying into it.

laura, sure you should send them to sales page halfway through your presentation or at appropriate time during the webinar. Mike Filsaine's MagicEventButton is great which allows your sales buuton pop up when you want it. Let me know your webinar.
    I like realestate related webinars.

Sounds like something to test. Perhaps you should alternate between the two for a week (assuming you do daily webinars) and compare conversion rates.

If I'm not mistaken the Google Web Optimizer can do split testing for you.

Even with data from marketers in your industry, testing is the only way you'll know for sure.

The webinar is your sales page. If someone clicks on your Buy Now button, they are primed and ready to buy. So they should be sent immediately to the shopping cart. Sending them to a sales page will only add confusion and the chance for your potential buyer to back out.

Excellent point. Thanks for the insight. I'll definitely keep that in mind when I start doing webinars

Always test for yourself but I would HIGHLY recommend sending them to the registration page.

Then why were they at your webinar?

When you do a webinar, the webinar IS your sales pitch, and the button goes straight to the cart. You custom-tailor your offer to the audience, so it will convert better than your "general public" sales page.

  • Laura,

Personally, I would not send them to a sales page. I would just send them to a payment page/shopping cart *(whatever you're using) and provide a recap of what the offer is, along the lines of:

YES, Laura! *(I would also test to see if a checkbox would increase response)

I am ready to take action and yada yada yada...
I understand that "___________" (insert product name) Platinum Package includes:

    -Yada Yada #1
    -Yada Yada #2
    -Yada Yada #3
    -Yada Yada #4

    Plus the bonuses

    -Yada Yada #1
    -Yada Yada #2
    -Yada Yada #3

...below the full recap, I'd include the payment form.

    Hope that helps...
