Fear Of Failure? What? Who Cares and Get Over It!

I hear about this fear of failure. As Homer J. Simpson says, action is the first step towards failure, but I've never gotten how someone is afraid of failing at internet marketing.

I mean, are you afraid of being vulnerable is you create a product? Are you afraid of the boogeyman coming to your home is you create a subpar niche blog? Are you afraid of wasting money?

C'mon, this is about a light weight as an entrepreneurial venture will ever be, speaking of internet marketing. If you do some researching regarding financing of offline ventures, you'll see that spending a thousand dollars in child's play. For them, they're spending a lifetime of money at something at which they have no clue if it will work. For us, maybe it's a week's worth of disposable income. And if that doesn't work (legitimately, not bright, new, shiny object), move on to something else.

Vulnerable? Well, maybe for a minute or two. Once you hear some feedback you'll become confident regardless of what is said. You're not going to make any money with your PDF sitting on your hard drive, nevertheless.

Is your blog perfect? Probably not, but it's not like it's going to be #1 on Google the minute you launch it. You'll have plenty of time to tweak it while learning about SEO and working on its content.

I don't even view "failures" as failures. I view them as falsifiable projects. If I know why something failed, I can improve upon it and do it again better the next time. Try something new if what you did previously didn't work well. That way you can narrow down your shortcomings. I like to take it scientifically. You have a problem if you can't figure out why you failed, not that you did fail.

The only failures in my book are people who don't try. I give more credit to people who are not that talented, but work their real end off, versus talented people who waste their natural talents.

Go get 'em!

I wholeheartedly agree!! I think for a lot of people it's fear of the unknown that gets them. Plus, you have IM over stimulation. There are a bazillion business plans to choose from. People just hop from one to the other, never settling on one. If you don't follow one consistently you won't do well.

    So take action....consistent action...and you'll be successful!!

It could be. The fear of the unknown is pretty legitimate, but is only an excuse at the end of the day. I like to know what the enemy has before battle, but I have to meet him face-to-face eventually.

Believe it or not, I often come across people who aren't afraid of failure... they're afraid of success. This is something that still baffles me.

That's more ridiculous. What's the point of even trying? Afraid of being famous and at the center of attention? I suppose some people want to keep it low key, but there are ways to do that and be successful.

Maybe I'll make a post about that when I think about more on which to write for the incredulous fear of success.

Personally, I'd rather be highly-successful and unknown to those that won't become future business partners or customers than to be recognized by the masses because I accumulated wealth and success.

I honestly don't care about that. But then again, I'm a supercar fan.

I have a fairly (okay, probably an understatement) personality that I'm sure can only grow larger with more success. Not that I brag, I've never really been big into that, especially with people I don't know, but regarding confidence it will grow.

This is so true. I know loads of people who are afraid of succeeding. They get started and then begin putting things off over and over again because they are afraid of success.

Two thumbs up for your post. I absolutely believe that the only limits in this life are those we set ourselves. I my long years of existence I meet several people who are afraid of taking even a single step because of fear and at the end they've got nothing making me conclude that fearing the unknown will take you nowhere.

I believe success is inevitable; maybe not what you want, but if you shoot for a million and only make 750k, it's still pretty good. Oh well, if people don't want to work, then I guess they don't need to complain when we're living our dreams.

Great post! I guess some folks view failure as an internal inadequacy on there part. But I agree, you can't be afraid of failure. It helps you grow and learn.

Indeed...everyone waits until everything is 100% perfect to start...sure you want things to be in order...but nothing will function perfectly before its launched...put it out there...feels so good to get things going....

Take risk..but calculated risk.....it will be well worth the reward.

thanks for this post, somehow it helped me generate a new set of inspiration to battle against worry and confusion... i am very new here and still trying to learn more... i have planned and desired to earn online since an accident caused me permanent paralysis and the only job i know is writing online...

i am actually not afraid to fail, i agree with you when you said that it is actually an opportunity to find out an d learn why, where and how did you fail and do something to improve yourself...

please advice me, if i am not going to be afraid to buy the magic article software, will i really earn from that as shown in their video?

i have also read a lot here these past days about other software and plugins to buy... if i am not going to be afraid to buy them, will i really earn?

all i know right now is i am confined to bed due to ten years of paralysis, i really need to earn... i am not going to be afraid of something as long as i know the money i will but these software and plugins will really help me earn the amount i need to undergo a stem cell therapy to have my life back and be normal again.... i hope to hear from you, thanks.

Excellent post! You really hit the nail on the head. People should NEVER be afraid to fail or go through hardship. Yes, only in internet marketing can someone invest a few hundred or even a few thousand dollars to start a venture. Outside of the internet that is pretty much unheard of. In fact, the startup company my partner and I are working on is going to need millions of dollars in seed funding to take it to the next step.

We as internet marketers are truly blessed! People should start being more scared of not trying.

If you fail to try, you're actually trying to fail. I forgot how the exact saying goes, but I guess that's pretty much close. Correct me if I'm wrong, guys! Anyway, starting something involves risks. Even if they're negligible, they're still there. Let's say you're doing something simple, like playing a game. There's a risk that you might press the wrong button, and it might lead you to a game over flag. That's actually the fun part! Trying to avoid pressing that wrong button, and finishing it all!

Great post Buckeyes, It's the fear of failure that holds people back.

I used to trade Forex quite a bit and had quite a long winning streak and it got to the point where I was afraid to initiate a new trade because I didn't want it to fail. When I eventually did have a failure, it was like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders.

That was how the fear of failure affected me.

In America anyone can go straight to the top. And here's what's exciting- It is the bottom that is crowded, not the top.

Back in HS I cared about what people thought of me (I don't want to ruin my reputation now, but I don't care what they think of me). Not so anymore. I remember coming home from my senior girl one of the girls said people would like me more if I acted more like myself. She was right.
