Small Trick to Register GoDaddy Domains for $2.95

Nice, but on arrival at GoDaddy, note the weasel wording between the headline "just 2.95* per year" and in the "view offer details" popup that says "may not be used for renewals." If the 2.95 is not good for renewals it's misleading, to say the least, for GD to use the words "per year." To be honest it should say "for one year" and/or state what the renewal prices are.

Looks like the only way to find the renewal fees is to search for and find an available domain and keep drilling through the purchase process, maybe all the way to your cart or where the "discount will show." and where you should be informed of renewal fees before you buy.

In other words, drastically discounted domains most always have higher than normal renewal fees and you should know what they are before deciding.

The offer is for new domain registrations & transfers, and the $2.95 per year is not misleading at all because you can register the domain for up to ten years at that price.

@Robin - You are 100% right, I registered 3 new domains for 10 years for less than $100.
VeriSign increase prices every year for .com etc., you never know how much a domain name will cost in 2013, so I think it's a great deal.

The renewal will cost you around $7.95 if you find a renewal coupon code, which is still cheaper than their normal rates, so for their normal 1 year rate you basically get a domain for 2 years.

Either way, it's still not bad....

Add in 2 INFOs to 3 COMs ($.99 each in the shopping cart) and you can get free privacy with them too.

Then before the year is up transfer them all to Namecheap for $4.99 or whatever special they're running. (Black Friday they usually run $0.99 transfers with free privacy.)

If you do it right you have 3 COMs for 2 years with privacy for about $16, or even better rates if you register for a longer period of time.

@Cooler1 - I registered only .com, so I know for sure it's working with .com.
About other TLD's just check and see.
The promotion is running for a long time with no exp date.
I saw it for the first time 3 months ago.

BTW - The site that I use to get GoDaddy copuns is livecodes.blogspot.com
They updated the site all the time, most coupons always work for me.
Note - I am not affiliate with this site, this is my personal recommendation.

I think GoDaddy changed all their coupon codes this year - I couldn't find any more 40% offs, but I did find a 33% off.

I'm still pretty pleased with them, although they sure blotted their copy book with some shockingly bad Wordpress hosting on their Windows hosting plan!

Even full price doesn't seem a lot of money for a domain name.
If you're not making at least $10 a year off a website then you need to be focusing on why your website is not making money rather than how much cheaper you can get your domain.

I have never had a single issue with Godaddy domains.

I never use anything else from Godaddy except domains.

Never use Hosting or any "plans" they have.

DNS settings and everything else you need to manage domains is very easy and completely accessible.

Well, I use godaddy for many years, they are good ,, the only thing I don't like about them is the 60 days hold whenever you change anything in your WHOIS information , if you unlock the domain then you cannot transfere it away before 60 days , so if you got a buyer u stuck ,, as the buy should be willing to be GD , if you got an offer from Network solutions certified offer , and your domain is at GD then you are stuck..
so the only way is to keep your domains unlocked so you can transfer them away whenever you get a buyer. ( keeping the domains unlocked is not good also )

If anyone knows a way to get free privacy for renewal then please share it

I always prefer Go Daddy for domains and you will get discount coupons very often from various forums.

I have nearly 70 domains and I never paid full amount either for new or renewal.

But if you want to take the privacy guard, name cheap is the best.

This is the best option getting your long term business domain or your personal domain and lock it for several years.

Haha Thanks HalloweenKing, exactly what I was looking for. It may not be one of those 0.99 promo's but I can't seem to locate any active ones at the moment so this one will do just fine!
