What word(s) is(are) even better than FREE? Get 'em inside.

Okay, there is no question that the word free is powerful, but is it all it's cracked up to be?

There is, I believe, a better word, but we'll get to that in a moment.

If it is used in the wrong way, typically without much thought, then free can do more harm than good to your business. Giving things away can be a great technique, but you better have an overall plan in place first.

When used correctly, the word free is about as close to magic wand as you can get.

But there's an even better word.

What is it?

Well, it's actually one of two words, and which word it is depends on you and your situation.

We are talking about the words yes and no.

If you are the type of person who continually passes up opportunities because of fear of the unknown, or because you think you're underqualified, or because you're just good at making excuses, then using the word yes more often can have a positive effect on your business.

If you are the type of person who is running in a thousand directions at once, seems to be helping everybody micromanage their business, feel that a negative response will make the other person feel bad, then using the word no more often can have a positive effect on your business.

Personally, while I am by no means perfect in this regard, I have found my income has gone up steadily as I use the words yes and no more effectively.

All the best,
Michael

    No!! Absolutely Not!!

    :p

Another thought I had as I clicked away...

Free only works when the prospect sees real value in the offer.

Free does not work when the perceived value of the offer is squat.

That's an excellent point, Bill. I often wonder if people use the word in place of copywriting. The truth is that you still need to write good copy for the free stuff, too.

Michael - good advice as usual. Someone else has a thread here recently about giving away something for free in order to earn customer trust because I posted on it earlier today so you are right the word FREE is not only powerful it is popular too. LOL another thought...look in my signature for my use of the word.
