Email Marketing - Something That May Benefit You!

Let me start by saying that if you know EXACTLY what your list wants then this isn't for you.

But do you really know exacty what they want? I mean if you do, you should be getting 100% open rates. Do I get 100% open rates? No, I don't but I did find something that increased conversions pretty well for me; So I thought I would share it with you guys.

It's actually something pretty simple, just ask.

Ask your list what they want to know, one simple email can actually bring you thousands of replies!

For example, I have two lists. One of 2143 and another of 2813 and I sent an email out to them - at the time they were probably a couple hundered smaller - asking what they wanted me to go over with them.

I thought I would get maybe 400-500 replies altogether.

When I woke the following day, I checked my email. I had 1200 replies from people on my list who were telling me EXACTLY what they were unsure of. I now knew what I could do to help all of those people.

I did find that I had to actually encourage all the 'lazy' people on my list to email me back.

"All it takes is one hit of the reply button and then two maybe three words. That's all I need to know to help you. I mean come on? You can't be that lazy, let me try my best to help you become the marketer you want to be."

That literally took me seconds to write and it's not even 'good' but it seemed to convert pretty well - So I supoose some would deem it good. After swifting through every single email I had a pretty good understanding of what all these people were wanting to know. So I gave them what they wanted.

What did I get in return? A 14% increase in my open rate over the month and a 9% increase in my CTR. I must say I was pretty impressed.

So my plans now are to do this on the first of each month. Find out what my list want to know in the month ahead and then work my fingers to the bone bringing them crazily good content.

*Remember folks, if you take massive action you will see massive results.

Great tip! A 100% open rate would be amazing, though, wouldn't it?

Ryan, did you find that there was a common theme among the majority of your list's responses... or was it a pretty mixed bag?

Pretty common theme (list-building). I also found that the majority of these people were giving me answers like "list-building" "build my list" "Fast list-building" "quick subscribers" etc. So I deemed them as 'lazy' due to the one word answers and when they threw words like fast and easy in to the equation.

I then procceded to give them as many fast and effortless list-building methods that I could conjure up - of course only ones that were plausable.

I find what they wants normally corrasponds with what you originally gave away as a gift on your squeeze page.

So for example, if you gave away a listbuilding related gift, people who opted in are most likely wanting to build a list.... Makes sense right?

You would think James, but that isn't actually always the case. I mean at the time these people opted in for your free gift about 90% are just searching for something that they think will help them succeed.

They don't care if it's product creation, copy-writing or list-building. They just want something that at the exact moment of reading will relieve all their pain and failure.

In theory you're right. With some lists you're right, but unless you actually test this yourself you will never know.

I'm not actually going to promote anything to one of the lists until I get a 60% open rate. This way, I think I will get crazy conversions. Probably have my first $1000 day.

Its at 47% right now and steadily rising - whether it reaches 60% or not is another matter.

This is pretty damn awesome. I actually have something like this in my autoresponder series, but I think I made it too long haha.

So, they said that they wanted to know more about list building in your case. You sent them free information after that it seems, what's your plan on generating revenue from that information?

I love this, and I think it's a fantastic way not only to know what your list wants, but to build their trust.

Frank Kern said that you should know your prospects'
desired outcome-know what they want the most.

It's wise to ask them, give them what they want and
    benefit in return.

    Businesses call this 'win-win'

    great thread!

Great tip, I think a lot of people will be thankful for this. Just ask and then deliver great content accordingly! I like the idea! Although it takes work, it's a great "keep it real and add value" way to ensure you stay in business.

Wow reading through 1200 mails will take hours, i think 1 whole day man.

And my opinion is that if you do it too often, the effect will slowly lose its touch.

BUT i must agree that its a good idea, just that with all methods, it losing its edge after reusing too much too fast. =)

i imagine someone whom i sign under his list asked me every month what i was looking for and i what i wanted, then i will slowly think, why not i look for myself.

And no matter how great your list or your ad title is, you will never get 100% open rate.

Not even once. You are better of buying the lottery then waiting for a 100% open rate.

      Why? there are many reasons,
      -some goes to junk
      -some people dont read junk
-some people sign up with fake email
      -some people dont check mails
      -some people delay and forget
-some people lose interest in what you have to offer but are too lazy to unsub.

and the list goes on. So many other factors and possibilities.

You will never get 100%. Period.

It may or may not lose it's touch.

Think about it, if I promised everyday/ every other day to email you something that you desperately wanted to know, you would open my emails, right?

But after all, I am far from being an expert. You may be right - only time will tell.

And yes, reading the 1200 emails did take a very long time.
