How to see where you traffic is coming from?

Hey everyone hope everything is going well.

I'm just wondering if you can see where you are getting the most traffic to your website? Like if your articles are directing more people to your website than your youtube videos. How I can see that?

Thanks,
JBarros.

Yes Google Analitics will allow you to view reports that tell you exactly where the traffic coming to your website is coming from. It is easy to use and install. I have used it in the past and still do.

Oops.. a webmaster with no Analytics installed? Get it ASAP. Even your hosting control panel should have some reporting tools to give you info about the past.

For those who share my paranoia about Google, there are alternatives. My hosting provider, Host Gator, uses AW Stats through my cPanel login, and it show me a virtual ton of stats. I also have a couple of WordPress plugins that are not quite as accurate on visitor counts, but they can show me keyword searches and traffic sources.

PS: Use Pretty Link (free Wordpress plugin available through your WP interface) to cloak all of your links and it has a really good tracker built into it as well.

      the biggest sin ! lol

use google analytics install ait and view all your traffic where it's all coming from, otherwise your cpanel should have a few tools to track your traffic. I know hostgator does ... but so far i use google analytics.

No I been using google analytics and getclicky since I've started. I honestly never spent much time reviewing their system so I didn't knew you could view such detail reports.

    Thanks for all the replies,

Forgive me, but why is everybody willy nilly giving there analytics to Google ? is there a reason no one is using third party analytics ?? allot of people nowadays are using other sources ..

I don't see why not . Personally i think its better to host that stuff privately on my own server. Thoughts anyone ?

I'd be willing to check that out...Google has hidden organic keywords (for the most part) making harder for us to know which keywords are working.

I've been using google analytics but if someone knows of another good analytics solution I'd be game to check it out. I never really checked in to it since google has a pretty good service. I would suggest to anyone using google, to set up your funnels and goals. This way you will gain a lot more insight to your visitors and where they may be stopping and bailing before they buy or opt in or what ever your goal is. Thanks.

Double thumbs up. Awstats doesn't need installing, it's there already in your hosting package and tells you all you need to know.

Traffic, page views, where it comes from, referring pages, search engine key words.

      Simple, effective, informative.

Nice list, but the problem with many alternatives to Google Analytics is that for traffic coming from Google, they can't show you which keywords those users used
(i assume this is a restriction from Google).

Does this happen with Google Analytics?

Normally your webhost offers you a option to track your traffic. Just look in your
Cpanel section. There is also Google Analytics, i do not trust Google and there
tools. Although its free google use these free tools to spy on your websites and traffic
    to gather information.

If your using word press simply add the google analytics plugin .... If you have a gmail account you will already have an active web master and analytics account simply add your site and copy the tracking I'd ... If you don't have wordpress bop just out the tracking html if the foot per of all your website pages I've tried many analytics programs and google is the best mostly because of the webmaster and analytics intergration... So you know what keywords convert ...... Love it
