What do you expect for $5?

Paying for links from Fiverr members is a great way to get your site slapped by Google too.

Fiverr is good for some things, I've had good experiences with several fiverr providers but you can't expect high quality work for $5 in areas where clearly no-one with good skills would do that work for minimum wage.

To be honest, it's $5. There are some GREAT gigs on Fiverr if you look hard enough, but you have to go in with some realistic expectations.

Does that make up for the fact that you had bad links (porn) to your directed to your site? No, and I would report the provider for that reason.

These days, I use Fiverr for some quick design gigs. Other than that, I would steer clear away from content/link gigs. Very few and far between would you find an incredible content or link gig (that will actually help improve your ranking) for $5.

Not my experience at all.

I've bought many good and helpful things there for $5. Almost all of them in the "Fun & Bizarre" category, I admit, but still ... they're certainly not "social bookmarking", and I wouldn't buy those services there.

Well you know some of these people use Fiverr to up sale some of their other services. It's a free way to market your services. $5 should be used to get clients. Allot of customers offer free services to get clients.

Just because it's $5 doesn't mean I should expect crap. Some of these Fiverr services I paid the extra $10 or $20 for the upgrade so I didn't just spend $5. Most cases I paid more than $5 so you can't say what do you expect for $5

How many service providers on Fiverr? How many disappointed you?

So number of bad providers / Total number of providers X 100 = __% bad providers.

Same can be calculated for India and South Africa.

Honestly ... what exactly do you think you're going to get for five bucks? I've had nothing but good experiences with fiverr, but I wouldn't dream of trying to hire a writer or a programmer or a graphic designer from there.

Social bookmarks are great gigs and there's a guy who will do an outstanding video for you for $5 plus $5 tip.

It's common sense. Don't expect a writer, graphic designer or programmer to be worth more than $5 of fiverr.

I paid more than $5 read my previous comment. I did my homework, looked at reviews, paid extra for the upgrades. I figured I'd pay more and get better quality work which wasn't true.

I have spent over $1000+ on Fiverr and I have not had one bad experience so far.

I use Fiverr for primarily doing voiceovers, transcribing audios and videos, submitting reports to document sharing sites, submitting videos to video sharing sites etc.

Fiverr is a fantastic service if you know how to use it properly.

well consider yourself lucky then.

it's not a bad place at all to get some stuff done cheap, but it has its share of shady characters. i've purchased about 80 gigs or so and have had to cancel about 20 due to designers/programmers that simply didn't deliver anything at all. probably another 20 or so were so crappy i couldn't use their product/service. i'd say that out of those 80, about 30 or 40 were gems and exactly what i was hoping to get or better. now, a positive return of 50% isn't bad when you consider the gigs only cost $5, but having spent 1k and never having had a bad experience there just seems a little unlikely. (just my $0.02)

anyway, here's a few of my favorite gigs...gigs I've ordered multiple times each. these folks do a great job, exactly to the specifications, and are very timely:
I will design a professional high quality EBOOK cover for $5 on fiverr.com
I will solve any CSS issues you might have for $5 on fiverr.com
I will narrate your short story or book for an MP3 audio production for $5 on fiverr.com
I will code in html/css/javascript for you for $5 on fiverr.com
I will proofread anything, up to 1500 words, for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors for $5 on fiverr.com

  I didn't realize fiverr was such a rip off. I have 15 websites on the first page of Google using 4 different fiverr gigs. One for a backlink pyramid, one for an edu linkwheel, one for angela type profile links that are pr6-8 and one for article submissions.
  
  I make more money everytime google updates their algorithym. Guess I better find a different way to do it than fiverr now that fiverr sucks.

Reminds me of the time i bought a few "high pr" forum "profile" links on fiver. Seller had amazing feedback and work was crap.

I used Fiverr quite a lot in the past and I was quite satisfied most of the time. Some of them were great - way beyond my expectation for 5 bucks.

Of course have to sort them by the ratings and read the feedback.

If you are not happy with anything you can always ask them to revise or redo it. You can also reject the delivery and get your money back.

That's what I did with the dodgy ones.

How do you reject the delivery? I asked one Fiverr person to correct his mistakes and he never responded so I left him bad feedback.

I've gotten some dodgy gigs but that just means I get to eviscerate them on my blog.

There's so much crud on Fiverr now the site is in danger of collapsing under its own weight. Looking at my shopping page, I bought two gigs in February and two so far in March. Last year at this time I was buying more than 50 a month.

The overwhelming number of gigs on Fiverr are the SEO scams (like link wheels) that at best don't help and at worst can actually damage your site. Since I can't in good conscience recommend any of these to the small business owners my blog caters to, there's not a lot left. You can only buy so many dancing banana videos before you figure out that doesn't work for you, either.

Ditto. The last gig I bought I requested a refund and the "gigger" told me to prove my point. So I did. I did a screencast and pointed everything out to them, uploaded it as Private on YouTube and gave her the link. She refunded me in full with an apology.

But I've had some dynamite press releases written and I even bought my brother a cool fiverr gig for his birthday! The guy superimposed a head shot of my brother as a fifth Beatle, right between Paul and Ringo I believe. ROFL My bro framed it and has it in his family room. It's a great conversation piece! I still laugh every time I look at it. ROFL

I don't understand why people spending $5 and less on articles, whether on Fiverr, iWriter, Textbroker, etc. get on here complaining about the quality, as if $5 is equivalent to $50. These sites are known to have non-English speaking writers. You have no way of really knowing their capabilities beforehand, and of course they will lie, especially if they need the work/they need every bit of money they can get. There are some things, such as content, that you should spend more on since poor content can negate your image and credibility.

I had one guy make me a link wheel with 100% feedback and he spun an article for my wheel about and making porn. My site has nothing to do with porn. I was so pissed and contacted the guy to ask him to delete what he had done and he never responded. The crappy article he spun was garbage also the English sounded like a 2 yr old wrote it.

What has the internet become? All the internet is now is a bunch of scammers from South Africa and India who claim their from the US and take your money and give you pure junk in return.

Theirs some people from India who are very good programmers that I have dealt with so not all people from India are bad. I've just have had bad experiences with people writing articles and press releases who claim to be American but are not American at all.

You can simply write to customer support and tell them that the seller did not deliver what was promised and you will get back your refund. Alternatively, write a negative review about the job done and post it so that he doesn't get future orders.

I'm sorry, this makes me laugh! To expect quality for $5 is ludicrous. People, you get what you pay for! If you want quality, then find yourself a provider who knows their value, is not afraid to charge what they are worth, and who'll perform and actually provide a legitimate service.

I love Fiverr, that is a great website. Can't say it pur junk based on the fact you found a few bad apples there. I mean I spend an hour or more at least just looking for the right gig then I spend more time communicating with them asking the proper question. Usually you can tell if they know there stuff. Gotta dig though

I found a guy to paint my house on Fiverr. Regrettably, his paint job sucked and he even had the nerve to suggest I buy my own paint. In addition, it took him a week longer to finish the job than he originally estimated. Worst $5 I ever spent! I'll never use Fiverr again!

a can of paint here in Canada from Canadian Tire (affectionately called Crappy Tire by discriminating Canucks) costs around $25...

A painter here charges a MINIMUM of $15 per hour and up for the labor and you buy the paint.

$5 will get you squat - so don't complain when you are only willing to pay slave wages by North American standards

Well, you generally get what you pay for.
Yuo can get graphics, certain outsourcing tasks done well
for cheap, but the most important one, i.e. linkbuilding, be
prepared to pay for better workers.

I'm sorry that your experiences are so negative with Fiverr, but I can relate. I think this trend is even more prominent at places like eLance or Freelancer, or other major freelancing sites, where you have to be EXTREMELY careful not to hire someone useless. Even the rating system doesn't work anymore, as there are several sellers on Freelancer.com for example with fake reviews and freelancer doesn't do anything about them... It's a shame...

Other than that, yes, you're right, there are many great sellers, even at Fiverr, I've personally found two great writers there who write high quality articles with very quick turnaround. It's just a shame it takes so much unnecessary work to find these people...

I buy from there too and have found a great editor and transcriptionist amoung other good talent. Had a couple bad too... The good thing is it only takes $5 to find out.

Amen to that!! I just suspended my PowerPoint video and transcription gigs for a while until I decide what I want to do there since I'm now more focused on my other businesses.

After literally having three of my repeat clients tell me I wasn't charging enough, I kicked back and thought okay, I've made about $475 on fiverr; (two of my repeat clients actually purchased off-fiverr for a combined $700 in sales!).

Overall, fiverr definitely helped with some of my bills and paid me back for gigs I bought. But hell yeah, I should be charging more - IF I even want to keep doing this stuff.

I still have my PLR articles on as gigs and I've sold a few of those but I've suspended all my other gigs for a while until I decide if I want to venture back into it or not.

I myself have never used Fiverr to hire someone to write articles for me. I pay my writers very well because they do a great job. I could not imagine paying someone only $5 to write a press release or article. Content is very important and I truly believe writers do not get what they deserve in most cases.

I completely disagree.

I've had great results getting videos, press releases, backlinks, you tube channel designs, photoshop work, transcriptions, articles and a lot more. Out of over 100 gigs I've ordered only about 5% haven't been up to the quality I expected.

Use common sense when you are looking for gigs, check the ratings, and how recently the provider has been active with there gigs.

I've made a lot of money using fiverrr both for my own business and reselling fivver gigs to others.

The internet has been full of scammers and spammers since about day 2 of its existence. Now, they just have a new audience ... you.

Was it at least good porn with some 18 yo hotties? Or was it some of that really weird stuff that makes you uncomfortable to watch and is illegal in many countries?

I think fiverr is awesome. There are goofy folks on there doing some weird and entertaining stuff for five bucks. Makes me giggle. But, no, I wouldn't call it the best business to business resource out there ...

I cut my teeth with Fiverr doing writing and editing sales letters. Finally got so busy I dropped them both and went private.

I received good graphics work from Fiverr members and even a nice video review of a product, which I did send her so it wasn't made up.

The main thing to do is see if they reply and look at feedback.

There are people who provide quality and people who dont . The country they reside in is irrespective . You cannot judge the quality of work from a particular country based on the few interactions you have had .

You are only paying a fiverr . Be prepared to part with more money if you want real quality . There are gigs on Fiverr that do provide value for money . They may just not be in the Seo arena but other fields.

Fiverr gives you the option to reject the work if you are not happy. But more importantly stop basing your judgments on where people hail from. Are you and your neighbour the same . Of course not , yet you live in the same street let alone the same suburb.

I'm sorry this happened to you. You really can't expect much for $5 but you should be able to expect much more than this. This is not the norm, I don't think. I use a few writers on a full-time basis but they are not from Fiverr.

I am considering commisioning some artwork from fiverr. It might be a way of putting some unique content on my site or on Pinterest.
Anyway I don't mind risking $5.00. You can pay more than that for some of the WSOs promoted here that turn out to be useless crap.

Hey, I do agree some of the gig in Fiverr really sucks! And still some is good, just need some time to test it out. Last time I always justify through the comment and their % rate, but now I realise this cannot trust much, because some of these feedback might not real, so.. I think the best way is the gig's is recommand by some of the warrior members here, or go ahead and place first order and try it out, and if manage to find a good gig, then stick with it, and some of them really do a good job with just $5, is good ROI also for long term!

You think Fiverr sucks? Some of it does and I sure as sh*t wouldn't order some dumb backlinks campaign but there are some awesome values on there for certain things.

For example, for the Podcast that I am starting, I had a professional voice guy do an intro and outro voice over for me for only $5. That's CRAZY! It sounds amazing and a few years ago, that would have cost me $50-$100 easy.

Ok, a few things. One, what do you expect for $5? They only get $4 out of that, and then there is a fee to withdraw money, if what I've read is correct. Even if you buy extras, you aren't paying all that much and they are getting even less on their end. That's no excuse for shoddy work on their part, but its an explanation.

Two, I've actually gotten excellent work out of writers from Fiverr. It all depends on who you hire. There are writers willing to do 1000 word articles for five bucks, and ones willing to do 250 word articles. Generally the latter deliver better work.

Third, I've also hired many excellent freelancers from Kenya, South Africa and India. The insinuation that if you aren't from a first world country you won't deliver quality work is flawed. I'm not trying to flame you, just trying to let you know that there are hard working and talented freelancers all over the world. If you've gotten bad work from someone either they ripped you off, you were paying too little or there was miscommunication.

I don't hate on the OP for venting a bit, though the whole foreign thing was a bit out of wack, but I also have to sit back, and if I buy a gig that wasn't what I hoped it to be, I simply say to myself: "at least it was only $5.00" and I keep it movin'. I wouldn't buy gigs that you already know should be well more than $5.00, but some do and think they're going to get $50.00 or $500.00 of work, and are then disappointed big time. Take it for what it is... a $5.00 gig. If it doesn't work, you learn one of two things:

1) You never buy gigs from that person again
2) You consider never buying gigs related to that topic that you felt cheated out of again.

It's just a matter of testing, learning, and moving on. I'm sure there have been many things we all have been burnt on in the IM world that were a lot more than $5.00 before we learned from it. Good for you to vent it out on the forum, though you went a bit excessive. Now take a deep breath, "wooo saahhh", and let it go and on to the next gig.

Much luck to you with the next one. Just my thoughts.

All I can say is: are you crazy? Voice overs are great, video editing is great, music is great, high quality backlinking is great, social media is great, traffic is great and many other gigs are excellent. There are many gems on Fiverr that you can pick up which will save you a lot of time.

Sorry you had a bad experience. There are some shady sellers on Fiverr. I personally have had great results but I had to look through the feedback and see how well they formatted their descriptions before buying. Some sellers offer samples of their service on Fiverr, such as the seller who will create a Signature Scent fragrance based on your preference. Nice stuff.

Paying for something for $5 can be a savings or a ripoff depending on what you are looking for. If you are paying $5 for something claiming to be worth $100 then you will get zilch. If you are paying $5 for something worth $10-$15 then you are getting a decent return on your money. It all depends.

I think Fiverr is a pretty good site for getting basic stuff done on the cheap.

The only problem with it, IMO, is that some people get addicted to buying stuff on it, and then they end up with these sites that are just obviously a patchwork of graphics, articles, etc from a variety of different freelancers that were not really coordinating on the project in any meaningful way. This is true with any site where the creator is just pulling stuff off of freelance sites; I have clients who use this strategy, their sites just look "weird" in a way that's hard to describe but easy to identify once you've seen it. But I'd imagine it's even worse with Fiverr, because each job is so narrow in scope.

Also, IMO, when using a site like Fiverr, you should try to mostly keep it to really basic stuff like logos, product descriptions, forum posts, and so on. With more advanced stuff, you might get something that looks not-too-bad, but isn't really compelling compared to what most of your competitors will be using on their sites. Just as an example, I know people who said they got great video work done on Fiverr, but when they showed it to me, it was pretty obviously not professional quality work. With things like that, you've really got to ask yourself, "okay, but is it really good enough that it will make people want to spend money on my products and services? from a random customer's perspective, does it look compelling or does it smack of "cheap marketing gimmick?"

Sorry you had such a bad experience. We're all vulnerable to raw deals anytime we engage a stranger on the Internet, especially for so little money, and you just have to accept that going in. Don't brand the service by that one gig --- there are a lot of good people there. Only times we've used Fiver, got great results from a caring voiceover talent and mediocre but acceptable results from a Brit article writer.

Sorry to be the w*nker know-it-all busy-body person but... Come on! Common sense says that you're not going to get a high quality link wheel with a well spun article for $5.

If someone was offering you a car for $100, you'd expect it to go forwards, backwards, left and right. Forget AirCon, Heated Seats and Cruise Control.

Apply this to Fiverr. You get a spun article (which it was, just not well) and it was placed into a link wheel (which wasn't made up of high quality websites). At the end of the day, you paid $5.

I personally use Fiverr but know what to and what NOT to buy.

Things I Like: The video testimonials and voice overs. Social bookmarking. Account creations. All things that are simple and cannot be over complicated and that save me time.

I 100% AVOID Article Writing, Backlinking and so on.

As with MOST things in life, just use your bloody common sense.

But his article was promoting my site as a porno website which is BS and could get me banned from some of my advertisers if they think I promote and sell porn.

I paid extra for the press release that was allot more than $5, I paid more in hopes she would have put a little extra work and thought into it. The press release was only 250 words. I even made her job super easy by giving her the release 90% done. I mean I could have made my own release in 20 mins or less for free!

The main reason for hiring her was because of her reviews and the fact she was going to submit it to all the major press release sites

The person who wrote my release claims she's from Kentucky which is BS because she doesn't write proper English. People lie on there to get work which I think is wrong and scammy!

With all these things, it depends on who you get.

Certainly getting someone to do writing whom isn't a native English speaker is going to prove problematic. However, should you be expecting to pay $5 for an English mother tongue writer within a Western Country - no, no one would do it for $5.

If articles are involved, it's always better to provide one.

If it's other stuff, ask for examples of their service.

You'll cut down quite a lot of crap that way. And I never use services that don't reply.

You need to be very very picky with fiverr. Don't settle for just anything. Make sure you're getting "quality", and by quality I mean quality for $5 - Which isn't that great anyways.

I've actually had some surprising success with fiverr and gotten some work done which I consider worth more than $5.

I've gotten all sorts of good gigs on Fiverr. But here's an idea:

Before you hire writing done, converse some with the seller! If they don't write well in response to your inquiry, they won't likely do so for your content!

The person who wrote my release claims she's from Kentucky which is BS because she doesn't write proper English.

Two points here:
1. People from other countries, whose first language isn't english, live in Kentucky and other states.
2. Not everyone in Kentucky, whose first language IS english, speaks proper english

It is not just $5.... How about $50. I liked Fiverr, did about 180 gigs on there last year. Cancelled a few, accepted most. Good if you cherry pick, headers, banners, videos etc. Lost my techy guy that did little tweaks for me on there. Needed a blog moved from a sub folder to the root. New guy 3 star rating blew up my site and left. Cost me $50 and a week down time to get it back together from my programmer.

Support did nothing... they didn't even kick the service provider off Fiverr. For those of you who think its $5... He is still there

Good luck. Yes, this guy gave the rest a black eye. Moreover, the administrators will cause it to implode. You have to police or you end up with conversations like this.

I know its my fault because after 180 gigs in a year, I should know better. I know this I don't have xray vision to see the persons skill level. When the risk is greater than the reward is time to leave. Just business.

If the tomato is bad on my burger I am not going to eat at your restaurant. You can't prop it up with the excuse your burger is the cheapest in town. Doesn't matter. The rotten tomato ruined the whole burger.

Its a shame because the concept is excellent.

Well, you are not going to get rich off $3.92 any time soon. This is a place where you can get cheap gigs or some exposure. Both buyers and sellers can benefit from this experience. Please who want complete web site for $5 will complain that the quality is very poor. What did you expect anyway?

I currently run an article service on fiverr to help build up my portfolio (stupid prices tbh) and I gain 5 or 6 customers a day, around 4 of these become repeat customers. I like to think this is because my work is good. Sure it takes me a few hours to research articles properly but I have gained a foundation of knowledge in a whole range of subjects. So if you are searching for article writers then please look at feedback because some people are doing great jobs even if its for a low price!

I've been having bad luck at Fiverr lately. I bought 4 gigs from different sellers recently and three of them have given me a false delivery. Why does Fiverr even allow that? Then the order gets marked "delivered" and Fiverr thinks that the order was fine. Why can't they just send a regular message about the delay instead of putting it in the delivery box?

I get an email from Fiverr that says, "Congratulations! Seller has delivered your work." So I go to see the work and instead I see a note (in the delivery box) that says, "Need more time to finish. A couple more hours please." And that was 2 days ago. Another seller said he's swamped and will get to me by the end of the day. Of course that didn't happen. The other seller had a relative write in the delivery box that he's in the hospital and I need to be patient.

It seems that late deliveries and false deliveries are becoming more common on Fiverr. Out of my last 35 orders, 19 of them had to be cancelled because the seller never delivered.

I don't know if I'll continue to use Fiverr if this kind of stuff keeps up. I use Fiverr to make my life easier, not to become more aggravated!

They need to stop the clock or they get dinged.

Even one late delivery can reduce a seller's rating to the point that the gig will seldom be seen. And if you're Level 1 or Level 2, you risk losing that status. (Not that it really means anything, but it's a point of pride for some people.)

Report them to Customer Service. Or you can reset it to Not Complete.

I had one seller who was offering a prime placement on a very popular Squidoo page. When I bought the gig, she informed me the placement was booked solid for a month and I would just have to wait. She then put the gig in Completed status so she could collect her pay. We had a Complete/Not Complete war that lasted several weeks before she finally gave in and refunded my money. (This was before customer service.)

Well, it is hard to judge at this moment. As a market place, we all just have to be careful in choosing vendors. Some of them on fiverr do get job done but hey for 5 bucks that is way cheap. I have used several vendors on Fiverr and got ok results. In the end, it is just like bought a cup of coffee but didn't finish it because the coffee wasn't tasted perfect.

But really I have bought some good gigs on fiverr and it is a matter of contacting the seller and checking what you want.

Lets face it an investment of 5 dollars should not break you and then you just might find someone who does good work you can use over and over again.

One of the best things about Fiverr is it provides some interesting and sometimes left field marketing ideas.

It is amusing to see how far people will go for a mere $5.

I have just ordered a collection of insane gigs to market my platform. Best case scenario extra traffic/sign ups, worst case a few dollars and a good laugh

I just started on Fiverr the other day providing 1000 links to whois sites. Doing quite good today. Working on another order right now. I think this is a hot item since Penguin was released.

As for other sellers I cannot say, but I try my best. There are a few there that go far and beyond what is expected for 5 bucks. Some of the gigs requested are far reaching to say the least.

These days however you will find a bad egg everywhere you look. I don't label anything as totally bad. For instance I had to go through a ton of people at Iwriter till I found the right person. Once you have the right person, well then you have someone you can work with on future projects and don't have to go through the muck again.

Anyone whose never used fiverr before should by no means be put off my this post, I use fiverr all the time for just over a year now and I can count on one hand the amount of times a gig has gone wrong, when you order you need to make sure your ordering from a reliable member with a proven track record, the amount of orders in his/her que is a good way of knowing if its a good gig or not.

If the gig doesn't come though accordingly or is late, send a private message to the provider, and I can guarantee that they will be willing to correct the mistake with a full refund because the last thing the want you to do is leave bad feedback, I'm talking from experience guys!

I've purchased some great gigs on fiverr.

I went in there with realistic expectations though, and despite that I was still disappointed on occasions, but I was also blown away .. you will find diamonds in the rough, but you have to dig deep sometimes.

I had a logo done by one designer on Fiverr, then showed it to a friend without telling them how/where I had it done and they thought it cost me around £75 for the work.

I wanted to order another but the designer paused the gig so I had to find another gig for my logo design and seriously, it was like some kid who downloaded PS and thought he was a graphic designer, but it was $5 so I wasn't expecting to be blown away.

There are some bad apples like everywhere who will either mess you around or give you rubbish service, but there really are some good peeps who go well out of their way to make sure you get something good and come back and order again.

For those who mess you about/give you poor service & don't deliver ... that's what customer support is for .. I've only really had to contact them once and my issue was resolved pretty quick

the words, you get what you pay for really ring true here though

Don't expect that a person will be doing 10 articles for you and submitting it to different directories too :p

Never buy such content from fiverr.... You can buy an article or a graphic, logo, cover or any other such product which seems reasonable in $5 to you.....

Why the hell anyone would buy things like Press releases on Fiverr is beyond me anyway.

I have purchased over 100 gigs at Fiverr and never had 1 issue ever.

Probably because I only buy things like video intros, or goofy photos or videos, social bookmarks...

I don't buy press releases, articles, programming, on Fiverr...

Secondly... you only buy from people that have a big track record, a bunch of recent work finished, and a very low queue.

1) The jobs completed is one way to tell if they are real
2) Recent work tells you they are actively doing stuff
3) Low queue means they get the stuff done fast

Too many people just look around, find what they are looking for, and buy. They pay no attention to those 3 things. Then they get burned...

It's a shame you had a poor experience @ fivver, my own has been ok for the most part maybe 2 out of 10 which weren't up to scratch. I think my only concern would be in the IM space when you are a newbie and get pointed in this direction it could severely dent your confidence especially if this were the missing piece to the jigsaw.

I also sell and buy gigs at fiverr. Although, I don't spend much time on it, haven't had bad experiences yet.

I know that it is a great platform to build a list of potential buyers. Once you deliver your work and if they are satisfied with the service, you can always ask them if they want to join your list.

The best way to use Fiverr is first to sort the sellers by the popularity and second contact the seller to have the feedback on the response time and communication level. Once these 2 are passed then go on and place your order. Again, in the end you can always reject the delivery with legit comments. So, again it is a fair market.

Overall, my experience with Fiverr has been terrific! I've used a couple of strategies picking people. First, look for lots of positive reviews, contact the person to see if they are available and can do what I need.

Next way I've picked is someone who has yet to receive any jobs. I've found they are usually eager to get some positive reviews built up, so they usually over deliver.

You can see when their last activity on the site was too. If someone hasn't been logged in for quite some time, that may be a red flag.

I can't really say I agree with Fiverr being pure junk, there are some good people and services on there. Maybe not as much as we would like for there to be, but what can you do? I think that if you want to find quality work by hard working individuals, you need to pay the ultimate price, to an extent I agree with "Well what do you expect to recieve when you pay only $5?". However, I would like to say that not everything on there is junk! I use to rewrite articles with a partner on WF, but we had to part ways because of our different interests, 2 years later(2010) I'm trying to find a way to make some decent income online, only problem is I don't have any money to start. I created a Fiverr gig and was creating new content for whoever asked for it, I honestly can say that I offered all my clients my best work, nothing less. Only time I ran into a problem was when one client suddenly changed his mind and realized that he didn't want any articles, what did he do? He attempted to say that my articles were not unique. This is total BS because every article I created is CopyScape checked. The rest of my customers were all sorts of happy with my work, I earned a total of $32, enough to allow me to move onto bigger greener pastures (WF). Fiverr was alright, I don't like how we are only paid $4 though, that really does put a damper on things. Anyways, I'm done raving on and on. I just want to point out that if you're looking for quality, really do some searching. You get what you pay for most of the time, that doesn't mean that the most expensive service is the most quality, it could be the complete opposite. Also, if you do use Fiverr to find workers to outsource to, keep in mind that not all of them are indians who don't know what they're doing. I'm not bashing on the indians, I love people of all ethnicities and from various regions and all walks of life, but I think that if you're going to hire someone to rewrite English articles for instance, they need to be from the USA and actually live the culture to understand how everything works. Thats my input.

This person has a point.

Most people want press releases for one of two reasons:

1) They actually want the content published in recognized media, like Google News or a major newspaper, or

2) They just want it published somewhere online so they can get links from it.

If you're looking for 1), you're going to have to pay a lot more than $5, both to have the PR written and to have it distributed.

If you just want links from free press release sites, you'll have to hire a Fiverr writer and a Fiverr PR distributor (few people do both for $5).

To avoid disappointment, make sure you understand what the Fiverr seller is offering.

I still use fiverr, not as much as I used to but there are still great gigs there. As for backlinks and social media bookmarking etc., all these people saying keep it under 400 or 200 or whatever are WAY off. Keep it under 25 is more like it.

The problem with fiverr isn't that there aren't great gigs left, it is that it takes so long to find the really good ones that it costs much more than $5 in your time spent.

This is not correct in my experience. Here are some of the non-social-marketing services they provided.

1) Fiver provider creating professional covers for my Kindle books.

2) I have a regular Voice-over artist providing 60 seconds voice (mp3 file) for just $5.

3) Created over 20 short videos in different niche markets

4) Last week, I appointed a Virtual Assistance from Philippians - she worked 1 hour for just $5 bucks.

Fiverr does actually have some great gigs. Again you need to test. Because they are people on there who do not know what they are doing

But their are people who does.

You don't have order a gig unless before contacting the seller.

Contact the seller and find out if they can give samples before you order articles then run it though copy scape.

I have to agree and disagree at the same time. You just need to sort out the good providers from the bad. Yes, that can take you a little time and money, but when you do compile your list of trusted providers, you can get a whole lot of quality for your business for just $5 each.

Just because one - two providers delivered crap quality doesn't mean that Fiverr sucks, sorry.

Fiverr is ok . You just can't walk in and throw money on everyone. The feedback system is fair enough, you need to make a little resarch and you will find something good. When it comes to something more important just go on oDesk, freelance etc, look at people portofolio and you're done. Fiverr is ok for smaller things.

When using fiver. I try to keep it with American sellers. Only way to filter them is through the grammar on their service description and many positive reviews.

If I am buying from a foreign seller, I only purchased based on their reviews with at least 97% positive reviews out of at least 30+ gigs.

Well, its as bad as the seller I suppose, its not actually that bad but when it comes to things such as SEO and content making, there are so many ways in which you can go around and cut corners with this and make a cheap quick buck, people prefer to take this route.

Think about it, peoples mentality with this is why take time to do something for $5 when you can get away with taking a couple of minutes to make that $5.

People are lazy, and Fiverr gives that oppurtunity to be lazy and get rewarded. This is what fiverr has become. BUT when it comes to other general things, its a nice thing to have there!

I just started using fiver a few days ago and over the last 3 days alone I've order somewhere around 30 gigs.

So I will say that there are some people on fiver who are beyond hard workers, and will do some incredible stuff for you for $5.

For instance, I was watching one guy work on my site as he was actually working on it. I was logged into my wordpress, kept watching the code change, then he'd go into my css and change that code a bit.

Anyway the guy had a major problem with the code, and it took him 4 hours straight working on the site just to fix it.

I felt like a total ass because this guy was so hung up on doing a good job for me, but I gave him a nightmare of a fiver gig.

So of course the second he finished I tipped him another $5.

I had quite a few people like this go completely out of their way to do incredible work for $5. So far I think I've tipped 3 sellers thats how please I was.

Now the bad side. I didn't really notice till around my 10th order, but you WILL INEVITABLY FIND some horrible sellers on there.

Here is one thing I do not recommend anyone does.

There is an option to request fiver gigs, just by typing in the work you need, posting it, and people come find you.

I did NOT start having a bad experience, untill I started requesting special gigs. For some reason when THOSE sellers started messaging me, for requests, they all sucked so bad I can't even explain.

To the point where the first 4 people who had CONTACTED ME after my request, wound up dissappearing completely.

The 1 guy who took the job did a HORRIBLE JOB.

So days later I put out another request, the same thing happens. I get a bunch of guys acting like their interested, dying to do the work for me. I pm them back details, they dissappear. Or worse say they will do the work than don't.

What I'm wondering is I think there are people who are always making new accounts, and the only way they can get work (because they don't have reviews) is by messaging people who put up requests.

THIS PEOPLE ARE THE WORST. So I went back to buying gigs ONLY from members with long & established feedback.

I will tell you this, its only $5 yes, but you ABSOLUTELY NEED TO CHECK YOUR SELLERS REVIEWS **BEFORE*** you even waste your time speaking to them, never mind paying.

I'd say out of the roughly $150 I spend, maybe $100 worth turned out to be fair work, around $50 in gigs that just sucked.

So I'm slowly learning too who the really excellent sellers are, by going back to the ones I tipped before, and they're more than happy to do the work. If if its a gig they're not offering, instead of making a request, I PM the sellers who ALREADY did good work for me. It only makes logical sense to work that way imo.

You NEED TO STICK with just a few good sellers imo, and do NOT rush into any gigs like I did or you will wind up losing a bit of money.

Overall I still love fiver because it helps me get work done much faster, for much cheaper, and it really is an art you have to learn just how to use it properly imo.

There used to be alot of decent stuff on Fiverr. Then it's just been diluted down, much like Tumblr with crappy posts/gigs.

I had just discovered Fiverr, and it seems quite interesting! I will try making some gig offers myself, and I will also buy some to see how it goes...

And the first that I'll buy would definitely be one with a sexy girl writing my website name on her breasts! You just can't go wrong with that! LOL

I have found a lot to great people on Fiver and which i have made a lot of Money by using some of the people Directly from it. Yes it is true that you can find a lot of crap listing on there, but it is 5 bucks and believe it or not, there are alot of smart and talented people on Fiver. I hired a Guy from Indonesia to do some FB Wall pages Last year and he spoke Very Good English and we even had to adjust our Schedule to communicate each day to get the work that we were getting in each wEek from new clients. So if you are using Fiver just Investigate each person before you Buy!

I have purchased some great gigs on Fiverr. I use it regularly to outsource a lot of stuff. Yes there is some crap there but there are also some very decent gigs there if you look for feedback and good ratings.

I always check out the ratings before I purchase a gig. I also ask the seller questions before purchasing.

The have a very decent cancellation system too and you can get people to re do the job if you are not happy with the job completion.

Hi Dave90210, I comprehend your anger against Fiverr, but there are also (a few of) good people.
Also I got a press release to throw away, some horrible articles, and a banner who is good just to be trashed, but I known good persons I'm yet in contact with.

After some time I'm on Fiverr, I learnt to check many things before making an order, for example I check how many time is required to answer my question, I check other comments, I check double times other listings and so on.

By my side I recommend to avoid backlinks like plague, and also articles, because at iWriter you can get them for cheaper than on Fiverr.
For the rest, I found good sellers of social bookmarking, interviews, audio to text writers and so on.

About the country, I'm in accord with you. I'm Italian and registered from Italy, but I have an UK flag on my profile. What's that?

For many things Fiverr is perfectly fine. I just wouldn't personally purchase any type of links that have to do with "lists"... scrapebox, AA, etc... they are spammed to death and leave a footprint a mile long. Even the social bookmarking services I am leery of... for $5 I doubt they are taking too many precautions with footprints. Very possible most of the bookmarks are coming from the same accounts, not spinning usernames, etc.

I think Fiverr is great over all! Most of the time the sellers have integrity (in my experience) and are happy to communicate with you and I have had sellers make changes and corrections to my bought gigs after I bought them. One thing about Fiverr is you can't expect to outsource the really important stuff ( links) for 5 bucks!

If you want to pay monkey rates, then expect monkey type work. It's mad just paying $5 (of which they only get $4) and expecting them to care whether it's a good job or not. Go somewhere decent, pay a decent rate and in return you should get a decent piece of work. (It's not rocket science)

About half the time, I've found some really quality providers on Fiverr! These are the ones that were shrewd enough to realize that if they overdeliver on their service, they will get repeat business. And sure enough, they have!

They treat Fiverr as their loss leader in order to develop relationships with purchasers. So on that 2nd,3rd or 4th go around they can develop their business OUTSIDE of Fiverr and earn more money.

It can be hit or miss, but there's good ones on Fiverr!

I haven't had a bad experience on Fiverr yet. I have to admit I didn't use it that much so far but I was very satisfied. There are some good gigs on Fiverr. One thing that helps is to use to "rating" filter to your search results. Choose the sellers with the highest ratings. It worked for me so far.

There's plenty of good quality gigs on Fiverr. You need to actually spend sometime researching and networking with others to see what sellers are legit and deliver good work.

Another thing I do if I'm still unsure about a seller is to ask some questions to see how long they take to respond and what kind of response they give me.

Some of the backlink gigs are straight up insanely good for $5. They do exist, you just need to find them and connect with some of the sellers in that category.

I'm with Ron, some things are golden but overall I learned the hard way buying.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. The big problem I have with fiverr, is they say "Oh, I'll give you a backink on a pr6 site". They won't tell you the site, because that's a violation of fiverr terms of service. So you pay the $5 and find out it has 22 links in from porn sites and it's a redirect, because the first post ever was two weeks ago. I don't know how they do all that blackhatting and masking and I really don't want to know. Now you are stuck with your link on there. OUCH!

Then you have the millions of happy feedback customers who don't know any better (because you checked and this person has a 100% gig rating) and unbeknowgst to the whole community of happy campers they are now linked to a site whose primarly backlinks in are from porn sites and they are redirecting from an Asian ginseng blog with naked strippers on it that is now a business niche site. I really don't call this a quality backlink.

However, there are a few goose eggs hidden in the plethora of garbage.

PS Does anyone know a site I can use for finding out if a site has been newly redirected? Thanks.

What do expect for five dollars? there are some good gigs on there but not many. I recommend going to a real out sourcer who wont send garbage links to your site.

By allowing Gigs and Jobs to be sold for more than $5 the alternative fiverr like sites, ie microjob sites, actually can offer better services. The seller doesn't need to cut corners offering his services for $5 when he can offer the service for its true worth say $10, $15 even $100
However one thing that I have learned from my own site is that $5 is that magic number that makes Fiverr financially successful. even though I offer many sales prices $5 is the most popular sales amount. I believe this is because for the Buyer when looking at a buying a gig/job they may think "is this a scam or legit?". But for $5 its not much of a risk, so they buy it anyway. At $10 they are less likely to part with their money, but the reality is that your typical $10 job on microjobs sites is far better value than $5 jobs, and less likely to be a ripoff.

Truth be told, there are quite a few hidden gems on Fiverr as well, you just have to find these quality gigs.

Regarding writers, I usually prefer those that are just starting out, and only have 1 or 2 feedback. Look at their writing styles in their gig descriptions and decide accordingly. The good thing about these writers is that they aren't full of orders to complete and they need the feedback, so they'll take the time to produce quality work.

I don't think that it's Fiverr that sucks. Just some of the people. The same can be said for many other sites including this one. There are good and bad people on just about every forum, social networking and business site out there.

I've just had an audio interview over an hour in length transcribed very professionally for four gigs ($20).

And I had bad experiences with article writing - tested 3 people - you get what you pay for, so no complaining about that. Since I use Odesk and the quality is good.

I like fiverr!!! I have set up a few social marketing gigs and they are selling quite well... Don't offer things that will not earn you enough money, don't expect high quality from underrated gigs... For some stuff fiverr is the place to be (especially crazy stuff

You have people on there from foreign non English speaking countries lying and saying there from the US. They write horrible press releases, sounds like they use Google translate to do them and pretty much everything they write is pure junk!!!

Theirs some people from India who are very good programmers that I have dealt with so not all people from India are bad. I've just have had bad experiences with people writing articles and press releases who claim to be American but are not American at all.

Hi, there is alot of talent on fiverr.com you just have to find it and sometimes it can take a while but the talent is there. I have found many gems in different categories.

Of course there are some who are just woeful but on the whole its a great site. You may get burned sometimes but you just got to roll with the punches and keep on keeping on. Thats how massive success is found.

I agree with Sangfroid.If you ask the seller a few questions before ordering you can usually tell by their answers and attitude whether or not you think their gig is worth pursuing. I do this on many occasions

Increasingly, I am finding that some sellers won't answer questions because they're afraid you'll find out what they're doing.

The last seller I asked about her supposed PR6 blog told me she couldn't divulge that information for fear of negative SEO. I don't believe it for a minute.

Maybe they have a bad attitude because they are earning $4 per gig and you're wasting their timer asking them questions. Just an idea.

I agree that to sell on Fiverr is ridiculous, your just chasing pennies, but there are also so many good services/ providers. Does ebay have scammers? Ofcourse, it's your job to do your due diligence, and find the one's who aren't scammers.

As a resource Fiverr rocks, just know not everyone will be good, but it's worth a fiver right?

I do agree that 90% of seo services suck on Fiverr, but there are so many other services and great providers I wouldn't count them out. Just my 2 cents.

The biggest problem with Fiverr is that after you hire somebody, you may have to wait quite a while for the finished product...which is OK by itself...but then the actual result may be poor or not what you expected...and then you feel kinda silly asking for your 5 bucks back!!

Personally, I have had only positive experiences with fiverr. I stick to top rated sellers as far as possible and make sure to always read reviews (both positive and negative)

I have had some great gigs ordered on Fiverr.com.

You can order some fantastic PLR stuff from there and I have also ordered some good solid graphics from there too!

I think I know where you are coming from when someone rips you off no matter what the price is it can leave you feeling frustrated.

How would you do that on Fiverr? People often leave positive feedback even though they really have no clue whether or not the gig was good, only that it was completed.

I have used Fiverr many times with no issues. You just have to take your time, correspond with the other party and see if he /she knows their stuff. You can tell
by then if the person is a scammer or not.

You are sort of right. There are very few gigs that are totally worth it (some designers for instance) but most gigs are s***. Let's face it, for $5 you can't expect someone to do a good job! The only way they can do it for such a low price is if they have some kind of a software that does everything, no one will work more than a few minutes for 5 bucks.
That being said, I would never ever recommend hiring someone to write content for your website in $5, it is not a good idea. Plus almost all the link wheels offered on Fiverr will cause you way way more damage than they would help you.
A short movie, a design work, account creations, stuff like that are the only gigs I would purchase.

Ok - I'm a bit biased because I have a very successful gig on Fiverr (63 orders in my que

). I don't think my gig is junk at all nor are all gigs on Fiverr. Personally I feel that the quality of my service is on par with professionals that charge 10x what I charge. There are a lot of sellers who deliver amazingly great quality gigs.

However, I'll admit, the results have been mixed when I've placed orders. It's been about 75% "WOW!" 15% "meh..it's what I expect for $5" and 10% "well, that sucked and was misleading"

Fiverr has some real gems hidden in its vast array of gigs. Don't discount it entirely.

There are 1000's of other sites like Fiverr.
This is why I use sites like "Nopolise.Com - Because every one needs Mo..."
You really do get what you pay for and trust me, you don't get much for $5.00

I suppose it really is difficult to know which fiverr gig will actually get you what you need... But once you finally find that person who can provide with you with the right service it will all be worth it!
