Where to host my Free eBook?

I would like to send them the ebook in their email through aweber of course. But where should I host the ebook? And how can I make it so when they click the link in their email, it will just download automatically. If I use my hosting, it might slow my server down, so what other options do I have?

First of all, don't make things more complicated than necessary. It would take A LOT of daily downloads to slow your server down. Consider the size of your list, your daily sign ups, the click through rate.

If all of this points to thoudands of daily downloads, use a professional service like Amazon S3. Do NOT send your customers to annoying file sharing services, where they have to sign up, have wait times, are bombarded with ads.

Also, use the right settings to make the PDF small.

To make it download automatically give them the link to the file.

If you are sending it to them via Aweber, you don't need to host the book anywhere. It can be attached to the email as a file. If you are going to have a website though, I would go with Ralf's suggestion and put it on it's own page, one that is not listed or indexed.

A simple e-book shouldn't slow down your server. You should just use your own hosting.

Say your e-book is in pdf format. You'd use an FTP client to put that pdf into your websites main directory, or any directory within. Then just send them the link. It should look something like this --> http://www.yoursite.com/ebook.pdf

I like to send them to a download page. I put the download link there with instructions on downloading, etc. This way I can put another offer in front of them if I want. Or just thank them or whatever.

How big is the file? If it's a short book it shouldn't be more than 1 MB, give or take. If so, make the delivery link point directly to the PDF. That way they open up the book by clicking the link and can simply save a copy or save as. Easy. I hate it when people zip teeny weenie files. Ugh.
