Hey guys,

I am just wondering if anybody can point me in the right direction. I have just started a new site (see sig) and was wondering what the next step should be for me. I have thought about hiring someone to mod rewrite my urls but I don't know if spending the $100 is worth it? Should I focus on the onsite seo or should I move to the offsite seo and start trying to get the site to rank for certain keywords and what is someones best method for a new site that is not a blog and offers its users something?

Thanks warriors.

I like the concept and the landing page is awesome. Instantly grabbed my attention.

My suggestion is that you start a Facebook page for this site to drive traffic. Generate interest by writing a few notes on how you could use 'junk' for something new or unusual. Perhaps create a competition on the best way to recycle products, or ask for ideas. You could have a lot of fun with this.

This one. Especially if you don't understand how to do SEO thoroughly.

I have realised my homepage does not connect to the inner pages for a bot to crawl. Does anyone know a way to somehow get around this without changing the layout of my homepage? Also do you think it would be most beneficial to change the url structure so it optimizes keywords itself for the search engines?

Peanut gallery member here, so think what you will of my thoughts. Your site strikes me as a word of mouth sort of thing. I don't know if you have Craigslist in Aus, but I for one did not find out about it from Google.

A whole, whole bunch of us know about Craigslist from word of mouth. I am sure all of the SEO suggestions to help with Google are good, but I would push hard with social media and don't be afraid to put on some shoes, drop a minor amount of cash on some stickers with your web address (and throw them up in public where you won't get arrested) or flyers, and hit the streets for some shameless self promotion.

Fix this on your 'about' page:

Free Treasure is a website that helps its users either located items for free or allows its users to get rid of unwanted items that are taking up space in their house

Take that d off of locate.

I agree word of mouth is the best promotion and plan on doing some flyer distribution soon. Does anyone know how long before google adsense would even consider my website to be part of there program as this will be the main source of revenue for the site and would like to have it present when we do some marketing campaigns. I realize some people say you have to wait 6 months but is this true for accounts that are not owned from countries such as India etc?

Thanks guys the information so far has been great.
