Why Sellers like Fiverr soo much? Here it is..

Right now a thread in WF is active which says "why Fiverr sucks?"
Well many people says that there r both good apples and bad apples but the reason for talented people to go and sell their service even for 5$ is that fiverr is a market place and buyers come to you instead of sites like odesk and elance where you have to site and bid for the projects.

I thought of posting it in the existing thread but then decided to create a new thread instead.

I just ordered a gig from fiverr. The guy did a great job, and it only cost me $5. If i were to hire a professional from a freelance site, they would probably charge me $100 for the job. I like fiverr. Period.

      Yeah Randall,

I sometimes use Fiverr for some stuff normally it takes 1 day for them to complete the orders. I don't have any issues with Fiverr.

      • Like I wouldn't really want to be a logo designer or product description writer right now.

There's still a professional market for those people, it just isn't on Fiverr. I doubt a Fortune 500 company is going to try Fiverr gig after gig in hopes of getting acceptable work.

A NYC logo designer put up a Fiverr gig as a lark -- he only had it up seven days, during the Christmas holidays -- and I happened to see it and bought it. His work is absolutely stunning, nothing like the auto-generated logos most Fiverr sellers are hawking. A properly-designed logo is art. You won't find that on Fiverr.

It is a good point, although if you're selling a service for $5, it shouldn't take up much of your time -- otherwise, I think you're just shortchanging yourself.

I spent a few hours trying to fix a WP template problem. I went to Fivver and found a guy who said he could fix any WordPress problems. I messaged him my problem and gave him my login info. 15 minutes later the problem was fixed. I have since used him for many other random projects I get WordPress related.

    Hi all

I agree with the original post - I simply like Fiverr as a seller as the traffic comes to the site. I don't have to worry about adverts, traffic generation, maintenance or any of the usual hassles. I just have to concern myself with providing quality work for the gigs i offer when they come in.

I have been on for about a year now, have 20 gigs up and running and simply offer gigs that i enjoy doing and can do quickly and easily so that it is worth the $4 i receive.

I loved the fact i could set up a gig this afternoon in about 5 mins and have an order that very afternoon. Very few other places you can do that really.

Yes, but you pay a huge price for not having to worry about the "usual hassles." Your logic is similar to the person wanting a job instead of having to work so hard on their own being self-employed.

Fiverr is like taking Elance and making it 100 times worse for freelancers. This set up does nothing but drive the value of services into the toilet. Sure it's fantastic for buyers. I think any self-respecting freelancer should avoid it like the plague (on your earning potential) that it is.

Yeah, I definitely think that Fiverr is probably driving down the value of easily defined one-off gigs, that's for sure. Like I wouldn't really want to be a logo designer or product description writer right now.

At the same time, the strategy for competing in this environment is pretty obvious: market yourself as a provider of big picture services that require strategic vision, combine consulting and advice with your service, position yourself as the planner of large projects that combine multiple smaller elements, etc.

I don't see Fiverr burning that kind of freelancer any time soon.

There will always be people just complaining about something, while it's themselves who actually suck, because they are not willing to work hard and just say internet marketing is a scam for newbies.

The fact is, Fiverr is a great place for both buyers and seller, if you are a buyer, you can outsource a lot of tedious tasks for the ridiculous price of $5.

As a seller, it is possible to make thousands per month for Fiverr. Creativity is key there and you should come up with something unique in an unsaturated niche.

I like Fiverr for the fun and entertaining gigs. I've had a couple of sellers on there do some digital artwork for me, which turned out really well. I'd never bother with any of the typical Internet marketing services on there though, mainly because most of it is trash. I wouldn't hesitate to try out a writer or 2 though.

I've made a couple of hundred quid on fiverr over the last 3 months or so, for a few small gigs. As others have said, the more positive feedback I get, the more orders I get, though there are random slow periods too.

There's so much talk about Fiverr lately that it makes me wonder: why doesn't anyone ever talk much about the similar $10 and $20 sites? There are quite a few, and they raise the ante quite a bit, wouldn't you say? Same type of market, but gigs for $10, $15 and $20 make the action a whole lot more interesting.

I think I'm going to try some offers on a couple of them to see how they go. It seems to me that with the more serious money, that type of site might naturally filter out the bad actors and lower-skilled people under the economic law of nature which holds that the higher the price paid, the less tolerance there will be for low quality (this may be naively optimistic of me, however).

I think Fiverr is great. I have a couple of gigs up there and I've sold a few. I'm still trying to determine what really sells and what sits around. It seems like services are more popular than the "I'll send you x,y and z" gigs.

Fiverr is great because you can spend a few hours posting a whole bunch of gigs and then just forget about them until you get an order.

I think there are a lot of great sellers on there. I treat my Fiverr clients just as serious as I do my regular clients even though I'm only getting $4 from each order. I also have a bunch of people I intend to order from.

Fiverr is a bit like a flea market, there's a lot of junk, sure, but there are some incredible deals as well.

I was thinking of checking out other sites like Goferr since their gigs are $25. That price would allow me to offer more without driving myself insane.

I use Fiverr most weeks. I also use SEOClerks - a slightly "highbrow" version LOL

You find your good people, then you keep them in a list for future use.

As an earlier poster says, there are good apples and bad apples, as there are on Vworker or Odesk.

But Fiverr rocks in my experience :-) Just don't trust anybody until you've checked their work - as always with outsourcing.

What would you say was a fair commission rate? We are charging 15% (subject to change) and will gather feedback to see if customers feel this is fair, if not we may tweak it down slightly. Unlike most competitors, we will listen to our customers and create a site for them. We will be having a special 8% commission rate for the first 2-months of the site launching.

Peoples view's will all be different, with some similarity. You will never please everyone in business. However some businesses are poorly run with atrocious customer service. It's the customers who decide what is a bad and good apple. If you google some of these companies who compete you will be able to make an informed decision through both your own experiences and others to decide what is a bad or good apple.

It's good that there is healthy competition competing against Fiverr, such as our business bluegig.com. The consumers decide and are the ones that drive a business forward - no customers = no business, lots of customers = a business, but a poorly run business will see customers diminish.

All businesses will have someone say a bad thing about them and some good things about them, some businesses have more bad feedback than good.

Fiverr kicks ass especially if you're on a budget.

That being said some sellers are a joke, but some buyers are too ... and you will get the same ANYWHERE in the world.

I've used it a lot lately for graphic design related gigs, and to be fair I'm very careful when ordering gigs because of one really bad logo design gig where the seller just ripped off someone elses logo .. since that I've had some great gigs.

I know some people have had a lot of bad gigs, but the majority of my experience with using fiverr has been very good.

Despite how I like using Fiverr, I can see how this can really drive the value of services right down but that's upto the freelancer if they really want to value their services like that I suppose.

i used to make over $100/day on fiverr with 100% good feedback for months, and i can tell you that many people very hard to deal with, they expect you to overdeliver 200-300%(!) and get it done asap, all this is for $3.64 after fees ... you not gonna notice this if you do only a 1-2 sales

I find Fiverr to be terrific to find absolute bargains. true, you might have to go through a few providers before finding the right fit, but I think that applies to most aspects when outsourcing

The question really isn't whether fiverr sucks or not, it's "Can I utilize this service in a meaningful and profitable way in my business?" In my opinion, fiverr is better for people buying the services than for those people doing the services, however there are clever people out there who charge $5 for a task that takes them three seconds! Long live fiverr.

I've been fairly successful on fiverr. The trick is to offer something of value which you can deliver without too much time involved. It's not bad revenue for work which you can use to fill in the gaps in your schedule. I make sure I offer quality, and after a few people buy a gig, it just takes off from there.

I love Fiverr! I've ordered a few gigs and have been incredibly happy so far! I think what people forget is that they are paying $5, and the user is actually only getting $4. That's roughly £2.48!! You're not going to get anything great for £2.48, but what you do tend to get is definitely worth the price.

What makes me laugh is when under "request gigs" you see people asking for ridiculous things such as:

"For $5, I need someone who will create and custom design me and wordpress website and install blah blah blah"

And i'm pretty sure that some of these crazy requests are fullfilled by people in need of money...

I am setting up a fiverr clone (with the fiverr clone script) to integrate in one of my websites (with 250k users) and if everything works as planned, it will be right on the spot for me

      I love fiverr

There's nothing wrong with fiverr - sure there are lots of scammers there but most of the time the product or service received for what is only $4 to the seller is pretty good, I have used it and I will use it again :0

There is definitely a lot of junk, and quite often you get what you pay for... However, there are a LOT of great gigs that provide really great services for dirt cheap....
Just use your head and if it sounds too good to be true... it is!

I'm a fiverr level 2 seller. Once I have enough funds I'm going to try other methods.

The fact that Fiverr is discussed so much on this forum and is recommended so often for outsourcing proves that it does in fact "rock".

I am a Fiverr user, I have had good success. Initially, I had to learn how to pick providers and had a couple of unsatisfactory experiences. I found the key, for me, to be thoroughly reading the gig descriptions, asking questions before ordering, and choosing vendors with high approval ratings.

I know my method does not recognize newer vendors who may be excellent, but I am okay with that. I am usually working on a time-line and don't want to spend time exploring Fiverr newbies.
