So I have been hacked recently and now suddenly I am gay...

Recently my computer got hacked and a lot of my sh*t got taken over, like PayPal, Facebook, oDesk and MSN. I have been in the process of recovering all of them.

Then someone added me on Facebook and wanted to talk to me about my blog. I thought that was cool, just connecting with people.

Then he told me he met "me" in Gindr, a social app for gay guys. Apparently the "alden" in Gindr has been conversing with him.

I am not sure if this is considered a hack as I have never signed up for Gindr before, but this is definite identify theft!

What should I do? How can I get rid of that fake "Alden"? Is this a big deal or is this just some idiot trying to play a prank.

lol ... what a predicament. Contact the site support and tell them. Don't know if that will help, but it could get your email address at least out of it.

'The hacker that steals your identity and poses as a gay male.', that's not something that you hear on this forum to often.

Somebody impersonated me on Facebook Then they tried to become friends with me!

I reported the profile as 'Somebody is impersonating me' and Facebook had it turned off within four hours.

Is there someone you know that has a personal gripe against you? It does seem personal.

I agree. Or do you have a friend who is trying to play a practical joke on you? It seems too odd to be related to the hacking, but you never know.

You say they are using "alden" - if they aren't using your full name, maybe they aren't pretending to be you???

Or maybe they are the same person? Poses as you - posts as you - you don't notice immediately so he points out the "problem" to you.

How many of your customers are likely to visit that site? Would it matter? Before you react, think carefully. It can backfire.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

Well, for the time being you could always get in the habit of finishing every sentence with, "...not that there's anything wrong with that."

I would consider this a niche market opportunity.

It could be innocent you know -- it could just be someone with the same name as you whom the person mistook for you. I know for example that there are several dozen Eric Hammers listed when someone Googles my name including several that are definitely a little "out there."

Unless of course it has the same photo...if it does, the only thing you can do is contact Gindr and tell them that someone is using your photo...

Eric is right! There are at least 50 Karen Blundell's in England alone, and dozens in the USA.

Can you imagine how many John Smith's there are?

I think the OP might find that it's all just a coincidence and has nothing to do with being hacked.

OP, download Malwarebytes and run it on your computer to make sure you got rid of the trojans/viruses you had.

Wow, it does seem to me as someone who wanted to get even with you for something.

You should email Gindr and let them know that you never signed up with them.

It can also mean that one of your friends is playing an early April Fools Day prank.

Sounds personal to me, too. I was dating a guy once (before Internet) that put an ad in the personal section of a newspaper under my name -- "for a good time" type of ad. I called the paper and told them it was a revenge prank and they got it out of subsequent issues, but my phone rang off the hook for a week. Guy really had admirable ad writing skills, I'll hand him that one. If I could have shaken off my morals and principles I could have made a freaking fortune.

Google yourself and make sure you find everywhere you are showing up. LOL - sorry, I know it's not funny. Mostly laughing in empathy.

The main thing is you're "out" now. Some say that's the hardest part.

...Can't help you with your comp been hacked though

I don't think you can be hacked "gay". I think you have to be born that way. College experimentation aside...

    Hi guys,

Well first off, sorry if I offended anyone if I came across as that being gay was bad. I got nothing against gay people, really.

I am just being very paranoid now as the series of hacks in my computer has been getting out of hand.
