It seems there is truly a niche for anything and everything, even belly lint!

When I write about picking a niche, I've always tried to explain that there are some niches which you probably shouldn't go into because they're not likely to make much money for you. A couple of years ago, when trying to think of something completely and utterly ridiculous, I decided that a great example would be collecting belly lint. I meant it purely as a tongue in cheek (no pun intended) comment. I honestly didn't think anyone would actually want to collect the stuff.

Well I was just writing an article for a client about picking your niche and started writing my usual spiel about how a website on collecting belly lint probably wouldn't be one which could make much money for someone and overcome with curiosity decided to do a quick search on Google. Not only it seems are there a number of sites on the subject (this one came up first), but when I put the term belly lint into Google, it actually had a Google suggest for belly lint collection.

I don't know whether to laugh or to run to the toilet and start vomiting in disgust. But I guess it shows you that there really are all kinds of people in the world.

Interestingly though, the guy at that link above does bear out my point that there isn't much money to be made from this business. He has been paid for some interviews and gotten a free trip to LA to talk to Jay Leno, but that's basically it. Not much to sell there...
