What Are The Top 5 Article Directories?

There are a lot of different rumours going about. Such as, ezine articles is not the best directory no more - don't use them. And others like, article marketing don't work. And many, many others.

So my point is, it does work, as i have been researching into it. However, which are the best ones to post to, to get the most traffic from?

This statement is a bit contradicting. You say it does work as you have been researching into it. That is completely theory based. Go write and submit 100 articles and see the results for yourself.

It sounds like you are not taking any action on your research. Next you ask the question of which are the best ones to post to to get the most traffic from. Ezine articles, Go articles are the top 2.

I would suggest you use the search function above and look up Alexa Smith. She gives the best information on how to properly use article writing through article syndication.

The reason I am saying this is because writing articles and putting them in article directories is going to give you as good a chance of getting traffic as you placing a random stick of gum in Walmart and hoping your target audience finds it and buys it.

Some are more popular than others, but that's a question that can depend on alot of things - including your specific niche. You may find that you get better results from GoArticles than EZA, or you may see more of your work get syndicated from ArticlesBase than Amazines. The only way to know for sure is to try out some of the bigger ones, and see what happens.

And don't forget to look for more active forms of syndication - like guest blogging, the Directory of Ezines, etc. That way, you're not just crossing your fingers and hoping for results.

Those are the PR's of the home pages. Unfortunately, all of the OP's articles (and any articles published on those sites) are going to be published on their own individual pages - which all have a PR of 0.

The higher PR links will come when your articles get syndicated. Then, they'll show up on pages with better PR, and they'll be relevant to your niche (something that's even more important now, and something that the directories themselves can't give you)

Maybe it is just me, but i thought that research was theory?

Acting on that research is called "Action Taking". I have taken action, and posted a couple so far. Just waiting for them to get approved.

However, thank you everyone for your responses.

Someone makes the point above, and I am reiterating it..... the pr may be high for the sites in question but the page your article will be on will most likely be pr0 until it is linked to by others or picked up for syndication.

I'm an article marketer, George. It's how I make my full-time living.

I submit articles to a directory at least 5 days a week, occasionally more, and have done for years.

The last thing I would ever want to do would be to get potential customers from an article directory. We all lose most of that traffic. Nobody has a 100% click-through rate. I want the potential customers reading my articles on my site, not on someone else's.

That isn't what article directories are for, and if you try to use them for that purpose, you may well find it's a thankless task.

This post explains more clearly, with detailed examples.

And this post explains fully "how article directories work" ... and it isn't by using them as a traffic-source.

Two of those five sites aren't even article directories. Associated Content is now "Yahoo voices"; Buzzle changed its entire business model a year or so ago and allows no external links at all in articles submitted there - not even in a "resource box". So you can forget that for any article marketing purposes. Just saying ...

Ideamarketers and Qondio are about the best article directories out there for traffic. However, they only accept high quality articles, so if your articles are top-notch, that's the place to be in 2012.

      Hi,

There are several purposes of submitting to Articles Directories.

If traffic is what you want from Articles Directories, it is good to know the sort of users there and their affinities.

You can then custom your writings and place your articles in categories based on their income, age, gender, interest and locations. It is more targeted.

To choose which directory fits your niche best, I suggest you use these analytics providers:

      1. Alexa dot com

      2. Quantcast dot com

      3. Google Adplanner

      4. Compete dot com

Scatter-gun approach in IM will eat up a lot of your time and resources, yet the results are not that great.
