Are there Successful People on this Forum Looking to Give Back?

If you are reading this I'm going to be upfront with you I'm in need of your help and I don't have much to give in return.

My name is Brandon Swain. I've been learning about all aspects of business for the better part of 5 years now (so far I've only made $68.97 online). I'm 23 years old and have joined the military to serve my country and provide some income while I work on what I really want to do. Become a successful internet marketer.

Believe it or not, I'm in the middle of the ocean right now. (yes we get internet access on the ship, even though its really slow).

Are there any successful internet marketers out there who can verify there success and can mentor me?

What do I mean by successful? Anyone who makes $2000.00+ a month in profit.

I'm interested in learning how to do whatever works for you. Please help.

If you are successful you should give back to the community that helped you get where you are.

thanks to all who reply in advance

I'm not gonna lie man- this post is a bit silly.

There are literally thousands of posts here from very successful marketers trying to help each other out.

You can find strategies for just about everything, from Pay-Per-Click to SEO to getting offline clients for building websites.

That little Search bar is pretty magical if you use it!

P.S. Have fun on the sea- I joined the AF so I wouldn't have to be on a boat, so you're braver than I!

The problem is the amount of info, a mentor can help guide you to what's important. And also alot of the advice on the forum contradicts itself. Having a single voice pinpointing you to the right path is valuable.

But I'm not looking to debate the value of having a mentor. I'm just trying to find one.

So basically you want people to teach you, for free, and they need to prove upfront they're successful?

Shouldn't this be the other way around?

        Like:

Hi I'm Mr Name, I don't make any money online BUT I am willing to be mentored and follow your guidelines for 6 months.

This is what I'll bring to the table (no money, sorry):

        Focus
        Drive
        Power
        Attention
        Security
        Confidence
        Friendship
        Coffee (lot's of it!!)
        etc etc
^^ This should be your request man, and you can be sure some of us would PM you privately to kick start something good for you, with nothing expected in return beside your attention, focus, friendship, and so on.... zero money involved.

Hope you can change your online business into something profitable. Good luck.

A mentor for what? SEO? CPA? Affiliate marketing? Writing? Product Creation? Ecommerce Sites?

Do you want a mentor who can show you how to develop and run 100 niche sites? Or do you want a mentor to show you how to build 2-3 amazing authority sites?

Do you want a mentor to teach you how to use squeeze pages and auto responder series to build a list and create an automated affiliate income stream? Or do you want a mentor to teach you how to set up passive adsense sites that rely only on Google traffic?

Do you want someone to teach you how to create and market your own digital products? Or do you want a mentor to show you the secret of finding drop shippers for physical products and running an ecommerce site?

Do you want someone to teach you how to write and publish kindle ebooks?

How about a mentor to teach the lucrative business model of media buys?

Offline marketing is huge. Are you looking for a mentor to teach you how to sell SEO to offline clients? Or a mentor to teach you how to market facebook fanpages to the service industry?

Your posts and questions are very vague and you do not say what kind of an Internet business you want to build, so how can anyone know whether their work and business is something you would want to be mentored in?

There's at least two threads like this every day.

The options are always the same: you either need to pay a mentor, or find the information yourself.

That sounds mean, but if you look at it realistically - a mentor who is making $2000 a day is likely making $250 an hour. Why would they give that up to help you? It's likely to take more than an hour, and it isn't likely to be fun. You could try offering money after you become successful, but that doesn't seem realistic either. Your success is totally down to you, not them, so you might never be successful and therefore the mentor never get paid.

If you narrowed down what you are looking to do, we might be able to suggest good starter threads. If you don't know what you want to do, that's the problem. Too much information and not enough action will never work - pick a topic, learn everything about it, and make it work.

    Good luck!

Not even some money from your morbitly obese paypal account?

BTW, that is where I would suggest you start. Send a ticket into the help desk and change your name. Your real name is much nicer.

While you are serving, you will actually learn a LOT of things you'll be able to apply to having your own successful business. I'd recommend taking everything you can get from the experience. Pay attention to chains of command and how things are managed and run - and how effective different systems are within the scope of your daily work.

A person who may be of interest to you who I would suggest you follow would be Willie Crawford. He has a bit of a military foundation - and has turned that into a very successful online business.

That is quite presumptuous of you. There is tons of giving back here on the forum - and you need to find some people you trust to follow - if you are looking for a "free" solution.

Anyone else who would be worth it is going to charge for giving you personalized attention. That takes up their time - which in turn is money.

I love it when people ask for free time for mentoring but the free mentor needs to verify their qualifications. Many of this give to this community by posting answers to questions. Many of us have businesses to run and don't have time to mentor people for free.

Sorry ...but you're probably going to have to dig in and do the work yourself. The information is here. Research and learn.

    Let me chime in here...

I started this thread many moons ago:
    http://www.warriorforum.com/member-c...rior-need.html

Many people have been helped there, but there is one key reason why people stop mentoring volunteering there...

A bit on the lines of what Suzanne said:
many warriors seem to think they have a right to be mentored or helped without bringing anything to the table.

Think about it. Why would a successful warrior help you when:

You do not know what it is you actually want (you state I will learn anything that works for them - but you give no regard as to whether their tools would either fit the way you work or your strengths).

You want to make mentors jump through hoops to mentor you (If you think for one second I'm going to fax over my qualifications just so YOU can have the honour of ME MENTORING YOU, then you are deluded).

You probably will not care for the advice anyway. I know from experience in the mentoring thread that only 10% of people ever reply to your messages to help, and I have no interest in helping people who cannot even help themselves.

Prove you have dedication BY SHOWING US you have done something and stuck at it for a long time.

You have to be worthy of attracting a mentor and not simply expecting them to fall in your lap. I have tried so hard to instil that mentality in the mentoring challenge thread, but it really is an uphill battle.

You do not deserve jack until you earn it...

Brandon, you're a War Room member.
You're getting a wealth on information from that arena
    all by itself.

(The man tells the stripper,"Honey, you're sitting on a goldmine!")

It sounds easy: look in the WSO section and find out
which are the hottest-selling and viewed topics. (Pinterest, for example)

Find out whatever you can about that, create a marketing strategy
    using what you've learned.

Try it out, test it to see if it works, then put together a
WSO and sell it, using your results as proof.

If you can't afford a WSO, post it first as a Warrior Classified Ad
(WCA? ) for 1/2 the cost, then when you make enough money,
    post it as a WSO.

Here's a helpful strategy: combine 2 different hot topics and come up
with a marketing strategy that uses both. You'll gain the interest
of 2 different groups of marketers.

Maybe you can combine 3 or 4. If it's social media, you're covering a
ton of them if it works for all of them!

Warriors will buy if it makes their lives easier, is easy to implement,
is proven to work, and is something that is original.

    I'm off the soapbox.

    Hope this helps!

Bless you while you serve the country.

What did you do to make the $68.97? Successful people take massive action and stick to one area until they create massive success. It sounds like you have been doing a boatload of learning and lack of action. If you stick with one business model for the long term I cannot see how you will not have more success than you have been having.

I appreciate someone with the spunk to ask for help. But you do it with little or no humility. First you say

"Are there any successful internet marketers out there who can verify there success and can mentor me?"

Buddy, you are in no position to be setting requirements. Then this:

"If you are successful you should give back to the community that helped you get where you are."

Ugh. First you require someone to prove their worthiness so they can take time out of their schedule to help you. Then you finish your appeal with a massive dose of guilt. Good luck.

About 12 years ago I e-mailed several well-known marketers that I was looking for a mentor. The ones that got back to me all said "no" and I felt rejected. After meditating on it for a bit, I realized that I was bringing nothing to the table.

So I sent them all a 2nd e-mail stating that I would specifically work for them for nothing as long as they taught me their business. And to prove it I asked them to give me a small project and that I would finish it when they wanted me to.

It took a few months but I finally found someone to mentor me. And let me tell you, he was tough. But he was fair too. Our first phone conversation was him setting expectations on our relationship, what he expected, and above all, that I was to be on time for our weekly meeting, and that I was to conduct myself professionally at all times.

He made it clear he had no time for joking around, small talk, etc. He also made it clear that if I could not finish any of the assignments given to me, that that would be the end of the mentoring. This man normally charged $500 an hour for his time and he told me that he did not like hearing excuses but only solutions. His attitude made a big impression on me.

After working a few weeks working with me he realized that I was the real deal and he let his guard down and we ended up becoming friends. I learned a lot of this person. Though I don't do any mentoring in the MMO niche, I have definitely brought over his mentoring style to the other niches I'm a part of.

If you want to find a mentor Brandon, I would suggest you bring something to the table that you can show or demonstrate. And making a very generalized posting in a public forum isn't a good way to find one because nobody is going to take you seriously. If you're really serious about this, start building relationships with other successful marketers. Just realize that this might take some time.

    Hey Brandon,

As weird as it might seem - I was in a very similar situation to you - I was in the Royal Navy (for 14 years) and starting out in IM so that I could work from home when I left.

So, although I've been down the road you're looking to travel I agree with some of what has already been said.

The best place to start with a Mentor is not by copying their business model and having it as your own. You're selling yourself short by thinking that way.

The best thing you can do is focus your business on YOU and your passions and goals.

You could easily copy someone elses model and be making your desired $2k a month but have to work 12 hours a day doing something you don't enjoy.

I know that's easy to say when you still are focused on the financial outcome but it's really a much better way to start out with your end goal in mind. By that I mean your ideal end goal and not just the money.

So if you hate writing - don't copy someone who make their money leveraging content they create. If you hate going around the social sites, don't follow someone who uses social media to create their revenue, likewise for software, video etc...

These things are all just tools to apply to your business - you need to decide what your business is BEFORE you choose the marketing elements for it.

You may have figured this out already, but your post comes across as......... Hey can I avoid all the hard work and find someone to tell me what to do?

What almost ALL newbies have no concept of...... Is this....... If you implemented the methods of a REALLY successful IM'er....NOW.... YOU WOULD FAIL!!!!!! Spectacularly.

Let me give you an analogy........ The Republican Guard in Iraq had some training and believed they were up to the job they signed up for. Let's view them as IM'ers....... Their training was similar to what most newbies believe is sufficient to succeed in IM. read a bit, go on a course and now believe you are equipped. Then they have to put their skills on the line when they confront other IMers who want to move into their niche (the invasion of Iraq....legal or otherwise...) and all of a sudden, their subscription to doing it as a Guru says....DOESN'T WORK.

It's the same for you, if you don't have the knowledge and experience...... Asking a GURU or otherwise to give it to you prevents you from LEARNING. It's like asking someone what were the questions in the exam........ And that's your only preparation for the next exam.

Hope I didn't poop on your parade.

Look at my join date. Before that I have been reading this forum for a few months. I have not made a single dollar in IM.

Why? Because I have not put in a single ounce of effort into doing so. I am not ready to try IM, and I have been so busy with offline projects that if I dip into IM, I would consider it to be a hobby.

Yet I feel like I have learned a lot to put to use later. There is a ton of information on these boards that I did not have to spend one single dollar on.

There are also blogs and podcasts that teach you the same thing for free. Some of them put up their income figures, its up to you to believe the numbers.

Now maybe you want hand holding, but I will be honest, in real life when I hold somebody's hand other than my wife. Every minute I do so, it is costs that person money.

First off, many of us made our success before we found the Warrior Forum.

So, we should give back to the community that helped us get to where we are today, huh?

Who was that? Oh... LOL... I should give back to "me", because I got myself to where I am today!!

    Great advice dude!!

I am off to Braum's for an ice cream sundae.

I did not get involved with this "community" or any other, until I had been successful for nearly a decade.

Further, those of us who are successful typically give a lot to this community, even if folks like you under-appreciate what we do for you.

    I second Jill's suggestion...

A lot of us were in this game long before we found the WF.

What was cool about this place for a lot of us is we had things in common with a lot of the other memebers here.

Who in this community have you helped earn $2,000 a month online?

See, for those people, you are part of the community that helped them get there.

But for everyone else, you're not. You're just another guy asking for free coaching.

And the reality is that coaching is worth what you pay for it. If you don't pay for it, you won't value it. You'll treat it no differently than you have all the free information here on the forum.

What you need to do is pay someone a few thousand dollars, and then he'll tell you something you already got for free on the forum - but because you have now paid thousands of dollars for it, you will actually get off your arse and do it so you will not have wasted your money.

Or, on the other hand, you might just bitch that you already knew this crap and demand a refund. At which point you will have paid nothing for it, which is what it will be worth to you. Just like all the gems scattered all over the forum, and all the free reports out there on the web, and whatever free coaching someone offers you here.

Look, you're in the middle of the damn ocean. There's nothing to do with your money. Save it. When you're done with your tour of duty, you'll be able to get a few months of coaching and absolutely explode your business. For now, concentrate on serving your country.

I personally view the whole "mentor me" attitude as a cop out and rather lame.

If you need someone to mentor you in the first place, I consider that the problem in a nutshell. Noones going to make you successful or give you the things you crave in life other than you. Looking outside yourself like that is called having an external locust of control and to me signifies a lack of priorities. Like I need someone else to help me get my crap together.

I know there are smarter more experience guys out there, but I don't want them to mentor me. I'd rather keep control of my own life in my own hands because really, thats the only person in the world who is actually gonna help me succeed.

Anything else I just see as a waste of time. Plus the only guys I actually look up to are guys that are so far out my own league that it would again be a waste of time trying to contact them. I'd rather study everything they've already done, and learn how to do it better myself.

In the past i have offered to mentor 3 people, All 3 lasted less than a week.

I gave them a series of simple tasks to do, all 3 failed to do them. I have run courses where people paid me $500 for the same training , they are all making money online successfully and completed the course. Go Figure!

You say you've been learning IM for 5 years and made $68 ... thats your problem for a start. You shouldn't be learning you should be doing.

Find 1 method and work at it, learn it by doing it, follow through to the end.

Build 1 site , then each day write 2 keyword based articles, they should take you less than 90 minutes in total, post 1 to a blog and then offer the 2nd as a guest post on a related site.

Monetize the blog. I guarantee if you do that every day for 5 days a week within a month or two you will earn more than the $68

        OP,

The level of arrogance and sense of entitlement in your post is truly astounding. Your username speaks of nothing but pure, unadulterated greed too. (You apparently can't spell either. It's "morbidly", not "morbitly".)

        NOT good!

Pure, unadulterated greed is very unattractive. Most customers and clients want to know that the people they're buying from have some sense of giving back and making the world a better place with their money and other resources. And mentors, colleagues and vendors like to see the same thing. It makes people more willing to help you.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to have a lot of money. But your attitude is guaranteed to put off a lot of people, including the very people who would be the most helpful.

I have a mentor and I've paid her a total of $10,000 since 2010. She's worth every penny and it's such a privilege to learn from her. You can bet I do what she tells me to do and I DON'T argue with her -- ever. Nor do I ever DEMAND anything from her. (She'd immediately stop working with me. Yikes!)

I've had the privilege of learning from and working with highly successful people who give back a lot to their community and causes that are close to their heart. They're successful enough that they can choose to fire clients -- and WILL if a client becomes demanding and unruly. The people I've been working with wouldn't take your attitude from one of their PAYING clients, much less from a freeloader.

That said, I'll still help you.

It sounds like you don't have a clue about what type of IM business you want to run. There are lots of ways to make money online, but all of the tactics and tools in the world won't help you if you're not crystal clear about what your niche, target market and business model is.

Clarity is a HUGE part of IM success.

IM is actually pretty simple: you can sell only one of two things:

        1. Products
        2. Services

        That's it!

And selling products or services online happens in the same basic way for everyone, no matter what they're selling:

        Traffic > Opt-in page > Autoresponder series (or e-zine) > Sales page

That's it! It's just that simple. (We IMers tend to overcomplicate things.)

But no matter what your niche is, or whether you're selling a product or a service, do you know what your business model is?

A business model is the framework or skeleton of your business. Essentially there are three types of online business models:

        1. Membership-based model

A membership-based business model allows you to build a community of people (your members) who are as passionate about your subject as you are. Your membership fees can be monthly or annual, but either way, you're building recurring, passive income.

There are a lot of resources and information out there to help you build a membership-based business if you're interested in doing this.

        2. Product-based model

Selling products allows you to maximize your time and effort by selling items over and over again. This can be hard goods or it can be information products. Information marketing is it's own business model under the product-based model. Information marketing allows you to take your brain to the bank by creating a product ONCE based on what you know and selling it over and over again.

Affiliate marketing falls under both models. You can choose to market either products or services as an affiliate.

        3. Service-based model

Selling services can be great for 1) generating quick cash (as in the case of article writing or video producing) and 2) establishing your expertise and getting testimonials.

However, in the long run, your goal should be to offer services at a PREMIUM. The biggest advantage of IM is LEVERAGE. You're able to leverage your time, money and expertise exponentially online. We all have just 24 hours each day. Time to get ruthless about what you expect for those hours you spend in IM each day. Expect more of yourself and more from your business friends, clients, partners, etc.

What results are you getting for those hours you spend online each day? Ultimately, your services should be at the bottom of your funnel and cost the most since they involve your time and personal attention. (We all have a limited amount of time each day.)

The fun (and confusion) comes in with all of the endless mix-and-match possibilities of the above models. If you're just starting or still struggling to make money, keep it simple:

        Pick just ONE!

        1. Pick ONE niche. (Something you're interested in and know something about.)

        2. Pick ONE target market for your product or service. (Who will buy what you're offering? The more specific you are, the more you narrow it down, the more successful you'll be.)

        3. Pick ONE business model.

Now that you're clear about what business you're in, FOCUS! (And stop buying any info not related to your niche and target market, period!)

        F -- Follow
        O -- One
        C -- Course
        U -- Until
        S -- Successful

And remember: build a list, Build a List, BUILD A LIST!

In IM, it's easy to put the cart before the horse. Take a deep breath, step back and consider what type of business you're REALLY want. Don't worry about getting traffic or buying that expensive traffic product until you know 1) what your business model is, 2) what niche you're in and 3) WHO your target market is!

Successful business people will tell you that MARKETING is more than half the effort that's needed for success anyway. So pick a niche, target market and business model. Then spend most of your time and effort marketing it.

If you DON'T have a solid plan or system, THAT'S when it's hard. A good system will shave YEARS (and save you big $$$) off of your learning curve

That's why I recommend investing in at least one good, comprehensive IM course (or mentor who will give you such a system) instead of jumping from one $37 e-book to the next. A lot of people here complain about not being able to make any money. But neither are they willing to invest in their business. (Buying a random bunch of $37 e-books doesn't count.)

The best thing I ever did was invest in a comprehensive IM course aimed at REAL business owners, not just other IM wannabes. Yes it was $1500. (It's no longer available.) But it was truly some of the best A-Z IM info I ever bought. Everything else I've learned (from the $37 e-books) since has simply been plugged into this system.

Get a solid plan or system and then work the plan!

        Hope this helps!

    1. Thanks for serving. I am a combat Vet myself.
    2. Don't dishonor the uniform by using your military status and dbag statements like this in the same post.

There are many folks here that give back every day, some hourly. This forum is filled with people that give back. Take some time to look around before trying to guilt people into helping you personally. It's not becoming of a hero.

    Thanks again for your service.
