Creating a Membership Site?

I would like some advice on making a membership site. A site where people can pay to be a member and acccess through their member login ID.

I want a site where members can login and access pages specifically for the member community and interact within the site.

What software would I need to register a user login for the member once they sign up and pay?

What website platform would be best for this type of site?

Any feedback on what I'd need to create such a site would be great.

    You can do it on Wordpress fairly easily with this (or similar) plugin:

    WordPress Membership Plugin :: Membership Software WishList Member

    That's the way I would go - I've heard good things about it on this forum and elsewhere.

    Look up AMEMBER - a great script for a membership sites.
    You can use it with Wordpress. Joomla and other platforms, phpBB. vBulletin and some other forums as well as different payment processors.

    From what I have read and heard so far, amember seems to be one of the best in the industry!

    HI,

    To run a membership site I recommend DL Guard (DLG) software, which is cheap. It can manage memberships and product downloads. With one install you can maintain many membership types and even memberships. The DLG software has to run on one site.

    The software elegantly handles paypal and other processor payments. You can setup trials and stuff rather easily and there is plenty of support. It's made by a Warrior as well.

    Once the member has joined you have many options to organize your community. I recommend the use of vBulletin or a wiki software to manage the 'back end' --You can use DLG with both types of software to protect your membership pages.

    I've gone thru the process and it was straight forward and easy with DLG.

      Thanks alot for the prompt responses and feedback fellas!

      I want to build an online community and have members sign up to access restriced areas for members only. Once they are members the can become affiliates as well as share products for others to promote as well. I've heard of Joomla, but don't have any experience with them.

      I'm taking notes here.

    I just recently purchased a license to install a membership site plugin for wordpress from Memberwing.com. I have a basic offer I just started promoting at my web design business TopRankDesign.net. I highly reccommend this plugin if you are using wordpress.
