How do you Build a Relationship with your List

You read about building a list. You read about how to sell to them. You read about how to write a welcome email. You read about nearly EVERYTHING.

But I just don't seem to be able to find anything on How to Build a Relationship with the list.

I've just started to build my first serious list so am hoping some members can give me a little advice and a few pointers in this area.

Thank you!

If you want to make money from your list, then you must build a cordial relationship between you and your subscribers.

The main thing is to look after your subscribers interests at all times. You want to appear more as a friend and trusted advisor to them than you do as a sales person.

Only email your list with offers that will benefit them
Sending out promos to your list is a great way to make money but before you do so always ask yourself the question – ‘will this benefit the people on my list?’ If the answer is yes then mail right away, but if the answer is no then don’t do it. Sure, you’ll lose some profits in the short term (and it probably means you’ll be mailing less often) but in the long term you will benefit greatly and your list will become much more responsive.

Make your emails interesting and content rich
The best marketers ensure that their subscribers actually look forward to opening their emails. You want people to see your name in their inbox and think ‘I must read that because it’s from…x.’ Do this by giving value in every single email you send out. Cut to the chase and give people information that will benefit them immediately. If you can also make your emails interesting then it is an added bonus. Let your personality shine through and make people feel as though they really know you. Tell stories and link your emails into your blog or Twitter account. Share your photos and anecdotes with your subscribers.

    In addition, give away freebies
I have heard the argument that if you give too much away to your list for free then they all become freebie seekers. I disagree with this and believe that giving stuff away is a wonderful way to build a strong relationship with your list. Again, make sure it isn’t just any old freebie – only mail when you think it will actually benefit your subscribers.

I definitely try to keep things on a more intimate level. I don't bombard with sales letters and I like to give away free bonuses when I can. I also will often ask my subscribers to hit the reply button and let me know what they think about a certain topic.

I believe there are a few ways to build your relationship main one's are email and setting up a blog.

On your blog give away value, give customers what they ask for, build that authority within your niche, and get them to trust you, can be done by giving away free valuable information it makes them trust you and the fact that your giving value they appreciate it, and eventually now and again start selling to them start small and work your way to higher ticket items.

can work the same way through emails
