Facebook page with 200k + fans, What should I do with it?

Hey,

I have a facebook fanpage with 206,000+ fans in the gaming niche, specifically Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. I originally set it up before the game launched to promote a Call of Duty: MW3 cpa offer. In the beginning the page did very well but now since the game has been out it doesn't do much. I continually post images watermarked with the CPA offer and the fanpage makes about $2 per day now and grows in fans steadily still day by day. But I'm not sure what else to do with it. It's kind of a pain to post images every couple hours just to make a couple bucks. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You can see the fanpage here: Call of Duty | Modern Warfare 3 | Facebook

Thanks

Creating a list is a great idea. No, how do you turn on the coolness
in this niche to get your fans excited? Maybe you can ask your fans/
list members what they like or want to see from you regarding Call of
    Duty, for example.

Possibly some kind of a membership site that posts cheats and new content like vids of the new missions they put out to download, but the monetizing could just be a paid membership site with a simple message board format where people find teams based on platform/skill etc. Of course only someone who would pay for the privilege would be a serious gamer etc etc.

Or just create and sell cheat guides to them.

Thanks for posting, yea I actually tried promoting some clickbank Call of Duty strategy guides but it was a no go. To me it's very hard to convert facebook fans into paying customers. Their more there to socialize then to buy anything.

Yes I actually have a few CPA offers running on the page but it only makes on average $2 per day. I say average because some days it will make $10 some $0, some $2 ect. But in order for it to do that I need to post at least every couple of hours, which to me isn't really worth my time to make $2 per day.

Create a mailing list, Push offers that are within the gaming niche. I found offers selling graphics cards are great ways to make money, especially if they're into PC gaming.

Well you can't sell it. Someone would have to be pretty silly to buy a fanpage that is based on a product name because it's only a matter of time before the page is turned into a community page and you will lose your posting rights. This will happen because you are not an official representative of that product/brand. It happens to all these sorts of pages. All it will take is a few spam reports, they come and look at the page, and bang -- community page here we come.

Sorry, but I don't think there is much to be made from this page. The moment you kickup promotions is the moment you will start getting more spam reports and all that does is draw unwanted attention to your page.

Wow WillR thanks for posting that, I did not know that was possible. Yea in the beginning when I was bombarding the page with CPA offers I got a few spam reports. But now all I do is post pics and relevant blurbs and no blatent offers and everyone seems to be happy. The problem is that it takes too much time to continually post throughout the day and is not worth the couple bucks it makes per day to continue.

I did try looking into some autoposters but many dont do exactly what I need them to do. That would actually be great because the software could post for me and I could be hands off, then I wont mind it making $2 per day.

Anyone know of any fanpage autoposters that I can load up with images and it will automatically post on my fanpage for me at 1 or 2 hour intervals please let me know??

      Thanks

Nah, that's the problem. Once a page name is set you can't change it unfortunately. They make it that way for a reason though. So you can't get people signing up to a page they think is about 'dogs' and you then later change the page to 'skateboarding'. It wouldn't be a great user experience.

This is why these pages with big fan numbers that are based around funny pictures, quotes, or even product names aren't worth much. You will always be walking the line and it's only a matter of time before it gets changed to a community page.

Hmmm did not know about this one. Thanks for the advice.

That is wrong IMO... I mean, you are the creator the the fanpage. You did all the work and they just pick it up.

If people are not happy with the ads or whatever, they just need to unfollow instead of complaining at FB.

I agree that creating a mailing list is a great idea. You could then deliver targeted adverts to those individuals. The other option is to develop a blog around your niche and funnel people from facebook into your blog.

Yea Yulia you said it, i try to post every couple of hrs and average $2 per day it's not worth it anymore. However in the beginning before the game launched the page made like $1500 in 3 days it was exciting then lol. But i dont want the page to go stale so I continue to post and update it.

Yea I tried promoting some MW3 strategy guides from clickbank, but with no success. The email submit CPA offers convert good on Facebook because theres no asking for money, they just submit their email and you get paid. To me its seems very hard to make facebook fans pay for something because their there to socialize not really in buying mode. Just my view from running this fanpage.

Yea a list seems to be the general advice so I will deffinetly try to implement that. You have a good idea as well, thats why the page had great success in the beginning because I built it pryor to the launch of the game and sorta got in front of the marketing tidal wave if you will that the game buzz generated on its own, I also ran some FB ads to build the fanbase. The bad thing is i'm not a gamer and not really sure what the trends are, but I will have to do some research on it.

      Thanks for posting.

    Hi Mate,

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is one of the best FPS games thus far. Your fan page looks awesome and the pictures are really cool.

Just as what people have been saying, Create a List!

I would also like to share a strategy for increasing engagement in your fan page by creating an event. In doing this you will have more opportunity to build a list and monetise your page.

Here’s an simple yet effective strategy:

Create a Call of Duty Video Contest.

Tell your fans to record a video of their most adrenaline pumping moments while playing the game. Whether it’s a life and death moment in the game or when their trapped in the middle of a crossfire, just give them the creativity on how they will record the video.

Then set a deadline date. By then you will select the top 3 videos that were submitted and you give them some prizes. Have them upload their videos on youtube and make contest mechanics like they should put your fan page on the description section of the video etc. You could decide on who wins by the number of likes or comments etc.

Just make sure that they post the videos on your fan page. I sure hope this helps. More luck on your fan page!

LOL k no need to waste your money I'll give you a review copy right now. Ready.... Facebook ads and it's own momentum.

Basically before the game came out I created the page to promote a CPA offer on the game, fanbase jumped up quick and I just monitored my profits and what I was spending on FB ads. Things were great then was making $150 per day with the CPA offer. Basically I'm assuming that I was just riding the wave that the game's PR was creating itself. Then once the game launched the buzz died as well. The page still gets like 1,000 or so new likes per day and it still a very social community. I'm just having a problem monetizing it now, people get hip to CPA offers and all the hoops they make people jump through over time. Kinda the reason why I slowed down on the CPA thing anyway.

So there you have it, I hope you enjoyed my WSO lol
