Best way to Monetize my site? Advice

Hey Warriors,

Right now, I own and solely run three different websites. However, my biggest traffic draw is my men's entertainment website BROcrastinator.com. BROcrastinator typically receives around 500 unique visitors per day, however, I'm lucky to make around $.50 per day with that traffic. I've experimented with many different forms of monetization on my site, but because it does not have a specific niche (it's a general male entertainment) it is difficult to monetize. I've used a combination of Google AdSense (which could make up to $40 a month for me), Amazon Associates (which has made up to $30 a month), and a variety of CPM networks. However, nothing has ever been steady enough to really increase the money coming in.

At this point in time, I'm about to graduate from college and have recently signed a contract for an account management position in Wasington DC post-graduation. Before I graduate and begin work, I'm working extremely hard to monetize my site to help supplement my upcoming salary and offset the high price of living in DC. I'm debating selling the website because I know it is DEFINITELY worth a few thousand dollars, especially for someone who can properly monetize it.

Truth be told though, I'd rather hold on to the website myself and retain it while watching passive income increase a bit. Does anyone have any interesting ways to monetize an entertainment site such as mine? It would be a massive help.

Thank you very much,
Rob

You really are all over the place with your topics. I'm note sure what you could do.

As a design note, you really aren't using your header area more effectively. Consider using that for ad space or promoting a service, product, your newsletter etc.

Yes, I absolutely agree. My header sucks and it's completely underutilized. I really need to get a customized logo, since mine simply uses the "Dynamic Text" format from Genesis. I just switched my search form into the navigation bar to test out an AdSense ad in the header. I'll examine the click-through rates and see if it's worth it at all, but I doubt it.

  • Hi Rob. You should determine where those 500 viewers are based. Then, you can contact business establishments around those areas, particularly those with products and other offers relevant to your viewers and the niches covered by your site content. Entice those business establishments to rent ad spaces on your site or sign a PPC/PPV/PPM advertising deal with you, or even an affiliate arrangement for commissions per sale. This may improve your conversions...

I saw an opt-in form on your site with a free offer. How about developing a free offer that's targeted at a specific demographic, after you determine where your more or less 500 daily viewers are based? One free offer per target demographic. This may increase your opt-ins...

Once you determine the demographics of your daily viewers, you can then develop digital info products, such as guides, tutorials, video courses, etc. targeted at each demographic included in your daily viewers. Post these products as affiliate products in affiliate networks, with a 90% or more commissions per sale percentage. This will entice more people to sign up as your affiliates, promote your products, site and content, which will in turn drive more viewers to your site as well as populate your mailing list with buyer traffic...

Your advertising offers for local business establishments will become more enticing for them, once your daily viewers and mailing list subscriber grow in volume, and once you manage to identify each demographic included in your daily viewers and mailing list subscribers...

As a friendly reminder, you can further increase traffic and opt-ins by implementing content syndication campaigns, use free Google Adwords, Yahoo! and Facebook PPC credits. When you increase your daily traffic and mailing list subscriber base volume, and you know where these people are based, then your onsite and mailing list ad offers for local business establishments will become more lucrative for them...
