I've just created my first lens. I outsourced a few small articles. Consequently, they did not turn out the way I wanted. I don't know if the content is the problem but I have a negative mark on my lens. I guess that means google and the rest of the search engines can not pick it up right now.

Can someone please review my lens to tell me how I can make it better? Where Can I Buy P90X

When i create a squidoo lens, it takes a while for google to index like a week or so. But on my main site, it's just a matter of minutes for every post I create.

I presume you mean Squidoo have marked your lens badly on the dashboard?

If so, we'll need to know what it says to be able to help.

I have a rank of 141,438 on my lens. Is that bad?

Not at all. It'll go up when you get more views/comments/etc.

It's just where it ranks in the huge list of Squidoo lens at the moment. Remember that there are some seriously big lens at the top - ones that have been around forever, and make a lot of money.

Well I think the artcle should first explain what this product is before saying where you can buy it.

Also it just looks like a sale page. Make it an information page and it should do better.

I have no idea what the product is, just what it may do.

OK, it's not Indexed in Google so I would suggest you submit the Lens to a few Bookmarking sites like Stumbleupon, Delicious, Digg, Mixx etc. You'll be in the Google Index within hours. Works for me.

you need to promote the lens, ping it and submit it to bookmarking sites. Also find a friend to visit it. I just did. This alone will put you in green. If you get someone to like it, you will be in good shape.

Now, I don´t think that lens is going to fly. It is kind of depressing.

the images are not bright, and I had to look hard to see what it was about. Still not sure what it is about actually...

is it a machine? a video series? a book? You need to answer this on the first paragraph and move from there.

I just updated the lens a bit. I guess I'm kinda experimenting with this one. I've used digg, twitter and stumbled it. It's in the green now.

The lens was supposed to answer the question "where can I buy p90x." My lens is supposed to point the reader in the right direction....I've assumed that the reader already wants to buy...they're just looking for a place to buy.

ok... still don´t love it. Sorry.

now that you are officially on, find other lenses in the same niche, go over there, like them and add comments saying you just wrote a related lens. Be nice and make references to what they posted, don´t make it sound spammy.

the community in squidoo is active, those people will probably go to your lens and participate as well.

then write related lenses and make clusters, interlinking each other.

just saying... not ordering you around here.

This is what I do with mine.

You need to have more patience. It doe stake time for a Squidoo lens to get ranked so give it some time before you start worrying about it.

No offense bro it sounds like a non English speaker wrote that. Where did you get it written so I know not to go there?

For articles it's best to get a native English speaker, no offense to non English speakers. It just makes more sense to have someone who was born speaking English write your article.

It's best to write it yourself or find someone who is in a English speaking country to write it for you.

I am a non native English speaker and that is not an issue. You just need to run the product through an editor to clean up messes.

Without trying to be mean, if I were on Squidoo's team I wouldn't have approved that lens either.

For one, I'm 99% sure that all content published on Squidoo is supposed to be unique and you're clearly just using an article from articlebase for that first module. But even beyond that, the whole thing looks like and reads like a blatant salesletter that's riddled with links, offers no real value or perspective to the reader, and was clearly created with no intention of being used for anything other than a gateway page.

Having actually written about this specific product before (p90x), I can tell after the first sentence that you haven't done any real research into the pros and cons of the product or how well it works.

Since only telling you how much I don't like it doesn't do you any good, here's what I'd suggest:

    1. Visit forums, read peoples' stories, do a bit of actual research on the product and offer something helpful. Again, I've actually done the research on this product and your readers will have too (by your own admission that's who you're targeting); anyone who knows anything about it could tell you're just trying to make a quick buck.

    2. Add unique content that's not repetitive or riddled with links. When it comes to links, less is more.

    3. Proofread it.

Even though your lens is approved or whatever now, I can already tell you that this lens won't do you any good in the long haul. It will be difficult to see results because no reader is going to find this page compelling as is, much less stick around long enough to click on one of the many links.

No offense intended - I know I probably sound harsh and that I'm not great at sugarcoating. Of course, feel free to prove me wrong and make tons of money with this lens, I'm just saying it's how it looks to me. Just trying to help =)

If someone is looking for that specific product on Google and already knows that they want to buy it, they will likely click on a store link in the search results and make the purchase.

If someone is looking for that specific product on Google and needs more information about the product before being 100% convinced to buy it, they're likely going to click on an article link in the search results so that they can find out information and honest views about the product, before deciding to buy. They may want to compare products, so the article should mention competitor products and why the one you're writing about is better.

So overall, the article should be a positive, helpful, persuasive review containing a clear link near the end to where the reader can make the purchase.

To be brutally honest, the article is badly written and is pushing the sale from the start, which is not a great idea. I expect readers will continue looking for product information and reviews elsewhere when they come across it.

have you tested this? my stats show a different story; there are better conversions with the link repeated on top and on the bottom, and the one on top has better results.

it is ok to have someone almost convinced, and in that case you have a very short space to convince him to go through your link. Those first two paragraphs are the vital points.

I actually use a banner and place it on second spot as a text with big images module.

I would love to see your stats, maybe a compelling text can give better results with the link at the end.

No ranking suggestions from me, but the writing is drab, dull and uninspiring. Having a keyboard does not a writer make. You just told us not too long ago that you landed your first $50 writing gig. If your writing skill is at that level, the first thing you should do is delete that outsourced writing and replace it with something more compelling than what you got through cheap outsourcing.

Wow, I wish I could throw this thread away...lol. But seriously, I appreciate the criticism. This was an experiment that has probably gone bad. However, I'm taking all the advice you guys have given me to make my next lens much better.

I guess you get poor English when you ask someone to fit titles and content around keywords.

I ordered a fiverr gig and this is what happened.

When was this lens published? If it was today, you will not get a green checkmark until lensrank updates sometime overnight. If you want to keep a green checkmark you need to get some likes to it. And honestly, I would set it up waaaaay different if you want sales from it. is that what you are looking for?

Don't get ahead of yourself. Sometimes it takes up to a week or more to show up. If you think the quality of the content is an issue though, consider either writing it yourself so you can have more control, or outsource it to a better writer.

    Hi Bill,

Be very careful that you aren't putting too much effort into trying to get high squidoo rankings as they can pull the plug on your lens whenever they see fit.

I had a lense that was 2 years old, was good content and had very good ratings, it even got to #2 in its category, then some bozo over at squidoo said that I had copied the content and if I didn't fix it the would pull it. I did a quick copyscape check and found someone had scraped some of it and spun it badly before blasting it out all over the web, any idiot could have spotted it from a mile away, but not the idiot over at squidoo, he pulled the lens.

I just built my own site targeting the same keywords and it makes alot more money than the lense ever did as there's no "leaks"....a lesson learned.

Use Web 2.0 sites like squidoo just for the link juice if you really feel the need, if you want to rank it in google ya better off getting your own domain IMO.

Fresh out of the gate, a lens will have a high ranking in the hundreds of thousands. This is normal. You need to update, and build back links to the lens.

In my honest opinion...I don't think the lens is poorly written, but it is too salesy. You need to provide lots of facts and information about this product and this type of workout.

Considering that it is your landing page in essence, you should write it yourself. The keyword that you are targeting is profitable, but just a wee bit competitive.

You can still do well however by making the lens lengthier, update it over the course of the next month and build back links to it at a nice, steady pace.
