How much of IM is simply sticking to ONE project?

I've never made money in IM, well, not any serious money. The most I've made was $16 through fiverr. The funny part is that my main site made about $9 in adsense (Thanks google for making the limit $100!) and I actually got two subscriptions to my list! Unfortunatly that was when I started loosing interest and the whole thing died.

Now I have an actual plan. I sat down and wrote out what I wanted and what I needed to achive to impliment each "phase". I have an idea that should hopefully get more people visiting my site, and all I need now is some cash for a domain name ($10) which is going to come when I get paid in a few days.

But you hear about sucesses and people getting a ton of traffic to their sites and so I wonder, how much of IM is simply sticking to a single plan and making that work?

I see thread after thread of people asking things like "how much are you making" or "how to I make money quickly?" But I do not see any threads asking HOW LONG it takes. Now since I have a plan it should take about 3 months for me to start seeing a decent amount of visitors and possibly some cash flow (hopefully).

So I want to ask you each to list something when you come and post here: How much traffic are your site generating (individually) and how long did it take you to get to that point?

Probably the most I've ever gotten consistently was around 500-1000 visitors per day, which is pretty solid. Took me around a year to hit that point.

There are people on here who have gotten WAY more, but good quality visitors? That is a tougher issue. Anyone can buy guaranteed traffic and get 50k visitors per day, but that won't convert and will just melt your server.

I have a website that receive ~800 visitors per day.

Did some keyword research, bought a matching domain (EMD) and the traffic started to flow after 2-3 weeks. It took about 2 months before reaching the current level.

I think you will see similar time frames from others using keyword research when making new websites.

The important thing , IMO, is to make a plan of some sorts, and stick to it. Your goals should be attainable so you don't get overwhelmed or frustrated and quit before you have the chance to really prosper. You were obviously doing something right before, however humble you might see your successes, so I think you should definitely stick with it.

The importance is not in how much traffic you are getting as such but how well it converts.

I have sites I have 10K per week but earning no money because of a combination of factors, but then there are others that are highly tailored sites where I prep the visitor before they arrive, this kind of thing can have a 100% conversion rate if managed correctly and where as I might only get 10 visitors, the earnings could be in the thousands depending on what is on offer.

Visitors are a factor when using Adsense for example because you can assume a certain percentage of them will click an ad, but then, I don't use Adsense.

I feel that choosing the right keywords and promoting only one site for the beginning would be a wise decision.

Spreading too thin when resources are not many, it's a recipe for failure.

The amount of time for you could be... NEVER. Do not focus on someone else's results. It doesn't matter. Oh and you can get a domain for $2, code FITNESS. Who cares how much traffic my site is getting because it doesn't benefit you at all. If you do not have the money for a $10 domain then you are in some serious financial trouble. I would suggest getting a second job to have a marketing budget. The whole "FREE" traffic thing is a myth. It costs time which equals money. Paid traffic is much more stable and easier to test.

Well... first off, what site? You give me a code but you do not say which site can give me a $2 domain name. And I do have the cash, its just I am waiting to get paid because I am running low.
And I think when people say "free" traffic they mean traffic which you do not buy with money directly.
And why would I pay for traffic? That seems to be nothing but a sinkhole, and anyways paid traffic to ME has always sounded like your using money to buy less money.

But when I ask about traffic I am not basing how well you do on how well I am going to do.

Go daddy for .com, .net, .org "FITNESS" $2.

If you think that paid traffic is a sinkhole it will be a long journey where you will have to learn the hard way. Ask any top earning marketer how they obtain their traffic and they will all say PAID. If they are doing SEO they are paying a expert.

Paid traffic allows you to test if your offer converts, FAST. Wouldn't you rather learn if your offer converts over a 1 to 2 day span then months to years for some people?

Ultimately you are going to have to pay for the acquisition of your customers. Marketing costs money. Your time is worth money right? Its easier for most to pay for traffic to test conversions.

Asking about someone else's results is pointless... but you already know that.
