How do i drive traffic to a domain?

Hi guys and girls, i recently bought a domain purely because it is the keyword i wanted to rank for that has a load of searches (its a .com).

I have set it up in my cpanel to route to another website (something like Amazon) so when someone types in the www.whatever dot com it automatically redirects to this amazon like shopping website.

How can i now drive traffic to this domain that i bought? Or what is the best strategy to drive traffic to it?

I was thinking of writing articles that include the keyword and then submit it to an articles site. Is this the best way?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

I would recommend video marketing. Just make some videos or have people make them for you then set them up so they link to your domain. Easy!

Do not redirect the domain to amazon.

Is it an EMD (exact match domain)? If so, then you need to rank that domain to get traffic, do not redirect it, it will never rank if you do.

Start to write content for you new domain and do some backlinking.

Article marketing can be very effective if done correctly but the BEST way to go about drawing traffic to your domain would greatly depend on the product you're selling. Certain products and services tend to do better with article marketing, and some niches don't work that way at all.

With the commission being so low on Amazon its almost like your forced to manually power your traffic. Paid traffic is superior. Solo ads, Facebook ppc, banner ads, etc If you cannot earn hundreds to thousands per customer with a high converting funnel then it might be tough to make a profit from your advertising.

Thanks for the great advice, i'm more swayed towards youtube marketing with looking to integrate facebook at some stage. I think i can get the youtube video to rank so i'll focus on that first.

Thanks again, i was looking for some direction.

there are many methods and strategies to driving traffic to your site they are:

      1. free traffic

      2. paid traffic

article writing is a good way, but you will have to be patient as it ranks in the directories, you can certainly try video marketing, forum marketing, using social media, twitter, facebook, web 2.0 etc

also google ads, facebook ads etc...

Facebook PPC is supposed to be an easier PPC market to get started it. I would try it out, but I really recommend getting involved in SEO. Throw up some content, outsource some backlinks, sit back and observe the results and then rinse and repeat. Once you've got your site ranked for a few low competition keywords that should bring in some monthly income for you. Then you can just upscale from there.

SEO is the way to go Wendz09. Do mind to do some keyword research and go after the lower and medium keywords first (competition) once your rankings take hold you will see a nice and steady increase of traffic to your site.

Yes! Social media marketing can help you get more traffic for your website. It has worked for my website. What I feel is that you should have a proper and well-planned social media marketing strategy to get the best possible results in terms of traffic or lead.

Note the comments from Wide above. Redirected domains can cause problems. Even with an Exact Match Domain you may find you can not rank well because of the redirect. It might be better to build a real site at your domain and have links to the sales page. This way you can rank the site, get traffica nd than you get targetted traffic to the selling page.
