Hi Warriors. I am interested in selling my Kindle business that is doing well. I would like to see if anyone has any suggestions on where to sell it at. I have a post here in the classifieds section and was thinking of flippa but it looks as though its really only for websites. Any thoughts, offers, etc? Thanks

  • Jake,

What sort of business is it? So it's more than just a website? You could try ebay as well.
  • Ya, it has a website, actually just a domain for marketing purposes but thats not the sell. The main sell is the actual account that I own that is making $1000 for last 2 months since I started and has $2000 in the account ready to be deposited to buyer end of April.
  • I'd definitely look at flippa then - thats going to get you the most exposure.
  • This is a Kindle account. Is that still something you recommend?
  • I think flippa is just for buying and selling websites and nothing more.. You can try ebay or other similar sites. You can also try marketing your kindle to social media sites like facebook and twitter.

    • I think people would want to know how it works to sell an account. I think when you sign up from the US you need to have your ss number. I don't know if amazon allows for account transfers. The mailing address would be different so how would someone be able to get paid? These type of account issues would need to be figured out and the tos studied closely.

  • I too suggest you to try social media marketing for your kindle business. It works. In fact, social media marketing is the latest buzz today. The same strategy works for my business. Why don't you try?
  • Why sell it? Just keep that passive income coming in month after month. Much more valuable in the long run than selling it for some lump sum.

Also, check Amazon TOS if they even allow you to sell your account. I would think they wouldn't, but I'm not sure.

    • How many Kindle books are associated with this account?

Have you considered selling the rights to the books to another person vice selling the actual Kindle account?
  • Kindle is virtually an autopilot business that requires no maintenance on your behalf. Any reason why you want to sell it? Sounds like you're doing incredible with it.
  • I am trying to sell to get cash towards a down payment for a home. Yes the account does good, better than average I suspect. I am perplexed on how to do this. I could sell the actual books but if I take them down off my account and someone puts them on their account, Amazon may think its duplicate material. I dont know what to do.
  • Create a basic site for your publishing company. All you need is the domain. Use Wordpress. Put your titles in a portfolio page and use that to sell your Kindle publishing business on Flippa.

You can get that done in a couple hours.

Once it sells, transfer the site and Kindle account to the buyer.

    • How do you transfer the kindle account though?

  • I'm in the UK, but our ToS prohibits account transfer. You wouldn't be able to sell it.

You'd probably need to find out if its possible, and how its possible, and include clear steps on how you'd transfer the account to reassure buyers that you've thought it all through and its possible.

  • I think you should use online marketing to sell your business. There are a number of examples where good business have not been able to sell well in the market just because of lack of marketing. You should also not be aggressive in marketing your business as this would create an impression that your business is not doing well. This will create negative publicity and hurt the reputation of your business.

    • I would either read the Amazon TOS very carefully or contact Amazon and ask them. Since you provide banking and Social Security Number info it's not going to be as simple as flipping a website. For example you say you have $2000 in payments coming. Those royalties were earned under your SSN and will appear on your 1099 for taxes. So if you turn over an account (assuming it's possible) to another person that check or eft will come to you and not them.
