Why can't you just focus on what's worked already and build a more robust system for doing more of the same and scaling it up?

Looks to me that you did find some success.

I gather that if you become a master of traffic generation you'd probably make good money in 2009.

    Press on!!

There is a lot to learn and skills to hone. What is important is to never give up. How would you know if you already quit halfway through it?

The man on the top of the mountain don't fall there. (Sounds like a load of crap )

    Brother ...

So your telling me in your FIRST year of learning online you made $550 ... And your thinking of quitting ??!!

Man I think my first year of LEARNING cost me $5000 + ... And how much made .. $0.00

It was well over a year, maybe 2 actually before things changed.. And they only changed about 4 months ago

So lets say 2 years and 5k down I now am making money, about $4000 in the last 4 months

If I had given up where would I be ??

Yes still $5000 down and no hope of ever going full time online

Dont quit on yourself, have some belief man !! No one ever succeeds straight away, unless they get lucky or are seriously connected

But know this... You HAVE to FAIL in order to succeed... FACT !

As long as you are failing forwards then in the end you will have the success you want

Stick at it bro, there is so much help in here that if you quit then the only reason for doing so is your lack of wanting it bad enough !!

I want it bad enough that I am doing everything it takes to succeed.. this year I WILL quit my job, that I know because I am going to make it happen

Where is your passion man ??!!

Get out there, try things.. Take action and learn what works and what doesnt !

Good luck, go get em brother !!

sounds liek you need to kepe testing different niches and different ways of driving traffic. I first tried affiliate marketing 10 months ago - made around $200 the first week from if I remember correctly (i built a squeeze page, used ppc, and sent offers to my opt-ins). I happened to find a decent niche and was able to get traffic.. the next 3 niches I tried content sites, a review site, and direct linkiing - I barely made money on any of them. The fourth was a content site, and I make money on it with CPA.

So i think it's just a matter of finding a niche that's condusive to your style of marketing and traffic generation.

Congratulations! You made $550 in your first year. Well done you. Try asking a random group of people on this forum how much they made in their first year, and you'll see how successful you've already been. Even if you made that much again you're still making profit, which is more that most who try and work online.

You might just ned some guidance on what works and what doesn't and focus on the things that bring in the money.

I read a great book called "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell. In it he says that the amount of hours of practice to become a "master" at any professional skill is 10,000 hours. He gives examples from the Beatles to Bach, that even they did not hit their stride until they got those 10,000 hours in. That's 5 years of full-time work.

I have been working at IM for 2 years, 20 hours a week (about 2,000 hours) so I have a ways to go before deciding to give up, and it looks like you do too.

Its understandable why you would want to quit when you are not even making enough to pay the bills. However you have to keep going, and never give up. Dont treat it like a job or a career but a hobbie intead, and just see it as bonus cash from your hobbie. After your income starts to grow then you can do your hobbie as a proper job

    HI,

Once I had dinner with a lady who's father had to buy lunch for a young man (he couldn't pay for his lunch) who was working at a cash-strapped start up in Phoenix, AZ.

History will note that a 20-something Bill Gates didn't give up.

Neither should you. Improve your working model and get to work.

Don't give up Don't give up Don't give up!!!
Focus on what you did to make that money and find ways to expand on it.
the fact that you made money means that you found a profitable niche, and that you did something right.
A lot of people don't make any money in there first year or sometimes longer. But the ones who succeed are the ones who know success is out there an they don't give up.

You said you made some money last year? Most people never make a penny!
