Launched My First CB Product! Looking For Tips On How To Make It Successful!

by coreytucker 27 replies
Hi,

I have finally created my first clickbank product. Actually the product is not in the marketplace as of today, but tommorrow it will be. I am looking for advice from warriors who have had successful products on clickbank.

My sales page is decent, and I know I need to add my opt in form on the sales page also right to build a list. What are some of the most important things I can to increase my sales? Im all ears

    Corey,

    Congrats on your first product!

You have a lot of options here from PPC ads, to article promotion, to finding someone in your niche willing to JV with you. The last would probably garner you the most traffic, right off the bat. There are a ton of great people on here with far more insight into JV's than I - IMReporter is one - and I know there are others (names escape me at the moment). There's also the JV forum right here as well that may open some doors for you.

Just try to find your momentum and then do all you can to keep it moving forward. With the right JV or ad campaign it could turn out very well for you.

Thanks Cary! Im excited because I know this has the potential to make alot of money. So to make my offer look more attractive to affliates I should also perhaps offer a back end sale they earn off of?

I dont know how that would work through clickbank though. I already pay 75% commission which I think is very important. I know you can find affliates through PPC ads, clickbank, ezinearticles and google in general.

But what should I do to make my offer more attractive to affliates? Also is it good pratice to always offer a bonus to your product on your sales page? What about letting my readers opt in to my mailing list to preview my product.

I am also a bit worried that by getting readers to opt in to my mailing list I would be losing some sales in the short term. Obviously I know I can potentially sale to those who opt in later on, but at the same time I would like to keep my sales rate on my sales page about the same as it would have been without the opt in form.

        Corey,

I would recommend setting up a separate script for JV partners so you change the commission - but you're right at 75%, it may be tough to go higher. But, you can look at it as though even 1% on 5000 sales is better than 100% of nothing. Offering them more off of the back end or upsells is certainly attractive.

Trying to establish more competition between affiliates may work in your favor and jumpstart your launch. Again, you may need to use another script to get this done, whether it's through special bonuses once they reach X amount of sales, or a higher cut, or even instant payments for every sale they help you make.

Bonuses are great, but I wouldn't go overboard. It's better to have one really awesome bonus than to throw in 5,000 crappy ones.

For previews, this is an interesting idea, but only if it won't end up biting you on the rear later. It would depend on the niche, type of product, etc...

Edited to add - Great advice, Mark. Doing a lot of the affiliates work for them will definitely benefit sellers.

Do interviews with other dudes in your niche and start to build relationships so they'll JV with you.

This is a great WF post on it:

        • Thanks CS - that's what I've found. The more you do for them, the more they'll promote for you. Some will even feel "indebted".

          Something else to consider:

I had one guy email me asking how he could track his leads.

I created a 'custom' sales page for him by creating an iFrame with his CB link, and adding his Google Analytics code. He can host it on his own domain.

          awesome ideas guys

          Mark,

when you say giveaway report do you mean have my product with their clickbank id embeded in it as a backsale? Then they drive traffic to it right and giveaway the report and they make backend sales for my product right? Hmm......I think I really like that idea, lol. I just have to think of something good to create as my giveaway report.

I figure like you said I need to set up a affliates page and have the keyword to target, banners, articles written they can use etc.

          Cary,

I think like you said one good bonus is alot better than say 10 crappy ones, lol.

So where should I put the opt in box for best results on my sales page? I want to create a good list but I also want to make as many sales as possible from the sales page. So any idea how I can do both without lowering my intial sales?

            Corey,

Most of the opt-in forms I've seen lately are about 3/4 down the page or at the very end. You could try some split tests for a day or so to see which position is best for you.

Which is more important - building the list or selling the product? Focus on the important one first, and worry about the second one next. IMO anyway

I presume you're using CB because you want affiliates, not just to use their payment processor right? If that's the case, the number one thing I would do is build an awesome affiliate center.
            Rebrandable
            PDFs
, articles, keyword lists, email sequences, images, , videos, audios etc . Also, if you are going to build a list, make sure your affiliates
            hoplinks
get passed on into all the emails as well - this is a big deal. Get your affiliates sorted and you'll see the benefits.

            Good luck

well I think building a list should be important. Im not going to lie though when I say that I make all of my money online without a list. But everyone says that building a list is so important (which im sure it is, makes sense) so I feel this is pretty important.

Im thinking about putting my opt in form at the top of my page and if nothing else I can email them in a week my product offer so they get to see it again It seems to me that I should have a order button for my product at the top of my page and the bottom, does that make sense?

    • Corey,

Search for competing product sales pages, review pages, etc. Get the marketers email through whois, and ask them to promote your product.

Ditto for Squidoo lenses and articles promoting competing products.

Put up an affiliates page, have a few banner graphics made, write or outsource some excellent email copy, do some keyword research and post those all on your affliate pages.

One of the most successful things I did was:

      Get affilites CB ID from their promotional pages for competing products;
      Create a give-away report that promoted my main product;
      Embed their CB ID as the link;
Email it to them with a letter asking them to promote my product.

      Works like magic!

Finding JVs is going to be the fastest way to start seeing some success. I am currently running several promotions with JV partners for my recently launched product and it i going very well.

You say that your sales copy is decent, but it needs to be very good in order to score some good JVs. I got a call today from someone that I was trying to get a JV with and the reson for the call was to tell me that I had written some kick ass copy and they were going to start brainstorming for a promo for me.

Having a great sales page is also going to help you get more affiliates. If it converts well, you will keep getting more and more traffic from those affiliates.

      Hey Corey,

You have a great opportunity to do some reverse engineering here buddy.

Take a look through the clickbank marketplace and find the vendors in your niche that are doing well, and break down what they are doing. if you know the right tools and sites online you can find out a staggering amount of info on any given site and it's marketing, and you can use this to very dramatic effect if you put the effort in...

      Hope that helps

honestly I know I can write a better sales page, but I do not want to overhype my product. I mean its my first sales page, so im not too sure how it is,lol. I suppose I should add my picture to the sales page also, im sure that helps with conversions. So my plan is to build a list also for a membership site im creating in the niche, so list building is actually important also for me.

The problem here is I dont know the best way to build my list from my sales page. Should I just give away a free report or something?

        David,

so basically I should look at the high gravity products in my niche and check out their sales page, affliates, bonus offers etc? I see what your saying, I suppose this is the best route to go? Just learn from the best in my niche and research them the most I can so I can mimic their models?

        • Corey,

Be careful with the opt-in. Many, many affiliates simply won't promote offers with an opt-in on the sales page, as they worry they won't get the commission if someone opts-in and doesn't buy right then and there.

Remember that you will have the email address of all paying customers.

PS - you might want to make the URL's in your sig clickable...

If i was you i'd focus more on getting tons of affiliate partners rather than JV partners, doing a jv is a one time quick profit deal, getting 100 or 1000 affiliates means that you have those people promoting you 24 7/365 a year if :

A: your conversions are good(sales page, good tools)
B: If you pay them enough to stay with you (offer bonuses to the top affiliates, give them ipods, iphones..you get the picture)

That is my take on this, of course you should look for jv partners but the real reason behind clickbank is affiliate marketing.

                Corey,

If affiliates see a site with a phone number they usually don't like it, now if there is an optin form it might throw them off as well but I think I might have heard that affiliates can still get their cookie in there somewhere and earn a commission down the line even with optin boxes on the site, I am not 100% sure on this.

In general if i saw an optin box I would also be reluctant to promote a product as well.

                  Thanks Mel.

Wow, so I guess its common then for people to launch products and not focus on building a list? I mean I know customers can go into your list but you have to have a pretty successful product for that list to grow large. So I suppose the best thing to do would to be to focus on getting affliates, but I hate not to build a list in the process......

You want to build your list? List a free wso and offer some good info/videos and you can build your list, write articles, do a press release, join giveaways (super list builder).

Majority of the top IM products or non IM products on clickbank have a list building mechanism, again I am not quite sure if affiliates do get their cookie in there, but as an affiliate if I am not 100% sure, then I would simply email the product owner/vendor and ask or simply not promote.

this is outside of the IM niche. I just figured this was going to be a great way to build a list on the side while I was making a good bit of money. I had no idea optin forms scared away affliates.

Looking at alot of products on clickbank I see many dont have opt in forms, but some do. Now im confused, lol.

Corey let me give a bit of advice, why not avoid the optin page on the sales letter and have it on the thank you page, you can have affiliates send you traffic, a customer buys the affiliate gets commission, the customer goes to the thank you page downloads and you can have an optin page saying, "fill in your email address for future product updates and tips (on your niche)" .

This idea works, you don't scare affiliates away and you still build your list, also you build a more responsive list because people bought from you and can trust you more.

I like that idea but cant help but feel im missing out on alot of potential customers. I see some high gravity products on clickbank have opt in forms, but many do not. I mean to get a list of just 1000 I would have to sale 1000 copies. I know this list would be more responsive but still im not sure.

To be honest I never imagined putting a opt in form on your sales page would scare away affiliates, this is a bit of a shock to me. I just figured clickbank had a way to track sales through opt in forms, but even if they do obviously theres affiliates out there who dont know about it. Im just really confused on what to do now.
