Is Animoto still the King of Simple Web-based Video Creation?

Is Animoto the only game in town? Animoto - Video Slideshow Maker with Music

I know there are other video services like:

One True Media | video creation that's simply powerful, easy and free

Stupeflix Studio - Video creation made easy

FlixTime - Video Slideshows made easy!

I need a web-based service that is easy for my Virtual Assistants to use. I've searched the forum here and several companies that were recommended have since gone out of business. I need a company that is legit, will be around for a while, has proper licensing for pictures, music tracks, etc...

I will be using this video service for my Offline clients so I need to be sure that compliance with licensing is strict. Don't want any Legal issues.

In order of importance:
UnBranded
Reseller (Unlimited downloads)
Clickable Link in Video to clients website
High Definintion or Minimum 480p
Pre-loaded Music Tracks
Easy Upload to YouTube, Facebook, Twitter
Downloadable to your computer
Filesize: Up to several minutes of video
Watermarking
Web based so my VA's can use

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I just bought the Pro version of Animoto today and made 7 videos. It's the best video making software after Camtasio and the best for decent slideshows that I've used. I'm liking it better than PowerPoint. Sounds like you'll need the Reseller package.

I'll answer your requirements based on using it for one entire day.
    • UnBranded: Yes (need Pro or Reseller package)
    • Reseller (Unlimited downloads): Yes
    • Clickable Link in Video to clients website: Yes, but only the videos hosted with Animoto. If you download them, the clickable buttons disappear. Many users complained about this in the Animoto forum.
    • High Definintion or Minimum 480p: Very crisp HD
    • Pre-loaded Music Tracks: 1,200 tunes to choose from
    • Easy Upload to YouTube, Facebook, Twitter: Yes (although I didn't do this).
    • Downloadable to your computer: Yes, but you'll lose the clickable button.
    • Filesize: Up to several minutes of video: Yes. No limit on length.
    • Watermarking: Not sure.
    • Web based so my VA's can use: Yes.
    Limitations:

Can't do voice overs. The music and pacing is great. If you want a voice over, you'll have to import it into Camtasia. I haven't tried this, but I'm sure there's a way.

You can't, inside the editor, edit images (i.e. add text).

Image library isn't very good. They need WAY more images. I'm leery of using Flickr etc. for fear of copyright infringement. If you have an iStock subscription, you're golden. It's easy to upload your own images.

The text boxes have very little room for text. Phrases only. I create many text boxes to get the message across. The upside is you're forced to get your points across in as few a words as possible.

    Unsuspected bonus:

Footage library with timelapses and other footage. You could buy more footage and create some fantastic videos.

Like I said, I created 7 videos today. They aren't long, but they get the message across. It would take me way longer with Adobe products/Camtasia to do what I did. The videos look great.

If you can handle the limitations, you'll like it.

I tried the free version and thought it was worth upgrading. The $30/yr package isn't much better than free because the "Animoto" logo remains on your video (making them useless). I immediately went Pro and it's good.

I suggest you should use Animoto. I have been using it for years and it works properly here.

    • I like Animoto. I particularly enjoy putting together stock video clips to tell a story. I haven't found an affordable source of additional stock video, though.

The royalty-free music, though, is really good.

I too haven't found low-priced stock video. If I get big time into video, I may subscribe to iStockphoto. They have plenty of stock video and I would like access to far more images.

Yes, the music library is worth the price. I've found some fantastic music very quickly (I like the instrumental category).

    Limited text work-around:

The limited number of characters in the text elements is annoying. One work around I'll be trying is creating a PowerPoint slide (screenshot it to create an image) or create an image with text and upload it. This way you can have slides with much more text.

However, the downside to this is the auto-pacing of Animoto. You can adjust the speed of the pacing, but each slide presents for the same duration. Therefore, don't put too much text on any one image.

There is an amazing one they did as a tribute to Gary Halbert, it's in this post of mine in the copy wirters forum http://www.warriorforum.com/copywrit...int-heart.html

I will post the video in a seperate thread here so people get to see it.
Thanks, I just signed up myself. Any idea when this will be released? It seems as though it may have voice over also.

I have tried several, but Animoto seems to be the most user friendly.

Seems like a nice opportunity for someone else to fill this void. Surely there has to be someone else that has the features Animoto has?

The problem with Animoto is the massive limitation on the amount of text you can at at one time.

      Big lamo!

Just make a page with your text, and include it as a pic. I have made 100's and when I'm limited on text I just use powerpoint to design a slide (can be the same black background, with white text.)

I find animoto way too expensive. Any free alternatives which do the job? I want to know as well.
