Chrome v Firefox - What's Your Take?

Chrome is a better and faster standalone browser to me. But Firefox has all of the add-ons that I can't live without. So I usually use Firefox.

Yes.. I've switched over to chrome last year and was really happy with it.. A lot faster IMO!.

I use these browsers to check the output of my site: Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer, Safari, Maxthon, and Google Chrome.

Among these browsers, Chrome is on the lead for me.

I use FF, Safari, Chrome and sometimes IE.

I use FF as my primary browser mostly due to the plugins I use. I use chrome when I want a good clean, fast interface.

FireFox, for the plugins. Plus it's made by people like you and me, a community. It's the Linux of Internet Browsers. FireFox is probably the most stable browser I have ever used and keep using for many years.

I used Firefox since version 2, but ever since 3.5 was released it seems to have gone down hill, I've switched to chrome now and it's faster and I have less problems

I've used Chrome since it first came out - love it! And you can still use addons like SEOQuake with chrome.

I found that Firefox was getting to heavy and slow to react. I am know strictly using Chrome.
I find the feel of it more "ergonomic"

Since I do a lot of web design, I pretty much have to run all the major browsers from time to time, but Firefox tends to be more useful for my specific purposes (I still can't away from Firebug amongst other plugins, even though Chrome's built in inspector is okay).

Strictly for casual use, Chrome IS faster on most websites.

I use Firefox for the add-ons. I use Chrome for the sole reason that it has its own Task Manager than can kill the tabs that are making things slow. I look at Chrome as some sort of a mini-OS, which is pretty cool, in my opinion.

FireFox, Web standards such as HTML5, SMIL, canvas and XHR have improved support in Firefox 5. The browser also has a web based building environment called Firefox Add-On Builder which is a very attractive feature for the development crowd. Currently, Firefox 5 has the top support of open web standards.

Same as most other people on this thread I stick with firefox simply for the add-ons it has.

I did switch to Chrome for a while about 2 months ago... but gradually started missing the firefox add ons more and more and switched back.

I will admit I found Chrome to be much quicker though!

Chrome is THE browser! Nothing else exists. then safari then IE then firefox.

the latest updates of FF made it crashy, laggy and other bad words i don't want to say!

As many warriors have already said I use FF because of the plugins (mostly seo ones) and Chrome because of the fast and clean work.
The modern trend is the following: Chrome gets the plugins we love FF for and FF tries to become faster.
As for me Chrome is winning the battle as it develops faster.

Chrome is a memory hog still. The nice thing about what Chrome did is it pushed Microsoft, Apple, and Firefox to make better products. Internet Explorer 10 in windows 8 is a great browsing experience. Firefox use to be the king of memory leakage and bloating (Chrome gets that title for now), Firefox has a more "Chrome Like" experience.

People tend to forget that one of Chrome's main purposes was to help push the idea that everything you use can be done so through you web browser. The extensions, the chrome app store, etc was laying the foundation down for current chromebooks and maybe some form of chrome desktop operating system.

I switched over to Chrome because of the sync feature it offered before Firefox did. It allowed me from PC to PC and not miss a beat in my bookmarks, passwords, etc.

The big problem now is when you are using Chrome you are more likely to sell your privacy to google if you use their integrated features. I was floored when I found out google had over 2 years of browsing history in their system and searched my other google accounts to clear it all.

You all might want to check it out for yourselves.

I use Firefox. I think it is great and fast. I have no issues so far with Firefox.

I haven't had any major issues with Firefox. I do have Chrome installed and it is a pretty decent browser. But I just fell in love with Firefox the first time I used it, it was just so much better than Internet Explorer.

I've had 3 computers over the last 9 years, and on EVERY one FireFox misbehaves.

I use Chrome because it doesn't crash and now has all the plugins I would want on Firefox

I might have to take a look at Chrome. I have used Firefox and Safari the whole way. Never had any problems.

As a developer I have to use them all, IE/FF/Chrome/Safari/Opera, however FF is the main browser I use due to the plugins like Firebug. Though FF is a resource hog, in normal use it eats up around 300-500 megs of memory, with heavy use in development it has taken over a gig of memory. Then their new update, FF 11, broke a few things including TinyMCE.

What do you guys think of using Google Chrome and the possibility of giving hints to Google as to what you are doing online? Is there any grounds for worry here?

I have been reading on how having your Gmail account opened while browsing can allow Google to see what you are doing so as to use it for "advertising" but I don't know how relevant that can be to IM'ers or even if that is true. Anyone? Oh, and I love Chrome, the fastest one of the whole lot.

I used both. FF and Chrome. I'm still more used to FF and sometimes I switched to Chrome for the speed.

For me, neither...Safari all the way :-)

Yup chrome seems faster than firefox....FF suddenly hungs up or freezes not the case with chrome.

BTW Chrome also has a built in feature for "private browsing"

I vote for firefox for the add-ons, but chrome for a few things "google".

I used Chrome for the fast speed and FF for all the useful add-on.

Chrome is more popular nowadays but Firefox still has more useful add ons. I would make use of the two to complement each other

I am with firefox, as it has so many useful plugins which i dont get on chrome.

Chrome is faster but firefox has a lot of features that I can utilize to expedite what I am doing...

I use both browser, they have different functionality that are really helpful to users.

You can use Firefox for the adds-on, and Chrome for speed.

Chrome is better as a standalone browser for speed, simplicity and security. However Firefox has some excellent plugins available in its marketplace. Usually I use Chrome, however when I'm doing tasks that require specific Firefox plugins then I use Firefox.

For me, running a Mac I find Chrome to be a lot quicker, stabler and all around easier to use. I also like the wide array of plugins/extensions for chrome.

No time to read all the replies here, but all I know is that both browsers have their share of negatives and positives. The main thing is whether the negatives outweigh the tolerance of the user when it comes to what he/she needs it for. For me, I use Chrome, Firefox, IE, Opera and even SeaMonkey - all for different reasons, because each one gives me certain features or benefits that I need for different things.

For those reasons, years ago I stopped trying to figure which browser is better. There is no such thing. It all depends on the needs of the user.

I prefer Chrome.

Another great thing about Chrome is that each tab opens a separate process so if one tab crashes, the whole program won't crash.

I really want to like Chrome. Been using it as my desktop browser for years, and it's still my favorite on Windows 7.

On Windows 8 with a touch interface... not so much. I avoid Chrome like the plague, I've actually reverted back to Internet Explorer when using Windows 8. Chrome's touch interface is horrible, and the tabs and icons can't be enlarged to work with fingers. I hope they fix this with a new version soon.

Chrom(ium) just because it feels a little cleaner. But it gives me 80-100% CPU spikes on one of my older laptops.

Firefox due to all fantastic add-ons, even though Chrome seems a bit faster to load heavy sites.

chrome is giving tough competition to Firefox but still Firefox is one step ahead but chrome is much faster as compared to firefox
