Question?? Is It Unethical To Save Money On Clickbank Products???

Let's say you're an online business person yourself and you come across a clickbank product that you want to buy and you found it through another IM'ers affiliate link.

Let's say the product cost $47 or whatever and you can get it for half price if you purchase through your own affiliate link.

What would you do??

Is it not right to save money by purchasing through your own aff link?

Well whether people admit to it or not...If you have a clickbank account and you feel like buying it you are very likely to use your own affiliate link.

But that's not what you asked. Wrong nail. Whether people actually do it or not doesn't have any bearing on your original question, which is whether it is unethical.

You're ripping off another affiliate in the example you used.

It is absolutely unethical. Someone who does this is either ripping off another affiliate or the seller. Either way, they didn't refer the sale, so they don't deserve the commission - it's as simple as that.

If you come across a product via someone's affiliate link then it really is ripping off the affiliate if you don't use their link. Think karma, if you do it to them someone will do it to you.

As to merchants being upset if you use your own link to buy a products...

Everyone has a different opinion on this but there are Clickbank merchants who actually tell people to use their affiliate links. Mainly they want to person to buy and read/watch the product so they know exactly what is about before promoting it.

Let's be honest, if you buy a product and really find it useful you will do a far better job promoting it. And smart sellers know this, which is why they don't care.

Is it better to get a small amount from a sale in order to get affiliates excited about promoting your product or give the product away in order to attract affiliates to sell your product???

That it the purpose of giving bonuses, so people will order through your link, and not their own affiliate id.

    Works wonders for me.

I despise it when people do this.

I'm an affiliate and vendor. I hate it when I convince a JV partner to do a mailing for me and immediately after they send the email I get a load of new sales from new affiliates who have just one hop and one sale. They've quite clearly stolen my affiliates sale.

What's the point in people spending their hard earned time and money to build their list if their subscribers are simply going to steal their sales?

This is happening in the "how to make money" niche.

I don't think it happens much, if at all in other niches because non IM'ers don't have a clue.

So are you saying that you saw the product on an affiliate's site and THEN signed up as an affiliate yourself to buy it at a discount?

Ethically, I'd say that is wrong, but everyone has different ethics. Put yourself in that affiliate's shoes. This type of thing happens all the time, depriving affiliates of their rightful commissions.

      Sylvia,

I am not saying that is what I have done.

I simply raised a hypothetical question and provided a scenario.

Here's another question: Is it unethical to rob a salesman, and use his paycheck as a "discount" with his supplier or employer?

Here's a little instant Karma experience I had just the other day.

As I was leaving the store and heading back to my car I realized that the clerk had given me a dollar too much in change. I had a million reasons why it would be ok to just forget about it and move on after all, it was only a dollar.

Instead I marched back in and stood by the clerk until she was free and I said "I know this is going to sound silly to come back in here over a dollar but you gave me one too many here". She thanked me and gave a weird look and I felt almost embarrassed but off I went.

When I got to my car and went to unlock the door I looked down on the ground and saw a twenty dollar bill that was not there before I went in. I looked around and had one of those "goosebump" moments.

Now I'm not suggesting that anyone do good things in anticipation that good things will be done to you but when it does happen that way, you kind of feel like you're in on something much bigger than a twenty dollar bill.
