[Question] Amazon/Review Site

Ok, I think I have decided to start "taking action" on my first site this weekend.

I think by putting up an Amazon review site will let me have access to learn many different methods such as list building, seo, ppc, ect. This is why have chosen this route to start "making my mistakes".

My question is.. I remember in a couple post there is a few WSO here that go more into detail about this and was wondering if any of you could recommend some of them.

I personally wasnt going to buy a wso but i think its good for the learning experience for many different reasons. I also will be upgrading to the war room this weekend.

Thanks in advance

    Hi!

Before you purchase any wso, get your war room membership.

Let me suggest that you take some time and research Amazon on there and in the main forum. If you search and focus on the 5 star posts you will have plenty of actionable steps.

You'll definitely learn a huge amount from building that first site. You will make tons of mistakes, but as the costs are low, what you simply learn will outweigh those costs. I'd recommend to read, read, and read some more before taking action.

I agree with Michael, buying a WSO about Amazon is a good learning curve but the War Room is full of far better advice in most cases and instead of spending $10 on a WSO, you could spend $40 on War Room and get lifetime advice and tips that are of much more value

Hold off on buying the WSO until you've joined the War Room. If you still have the need for that extra bit of Amazon knowledge then you can buy a course after you've checked out the War Room.

    Hope that helps

Great idea. Plus, the war room is ripe with free review themes

It's also not a bad idea to grab some Amazon PLR reviews. You can get these for free or very low cost. This will save you a ton of time when it comes to writing. You will just have to do some minor rewriting on the PLR reviews rather than writing reviews from scratch. Reviews can be a pain to write. :p

      Good luck!

Don't bother with a WSO, you need to understand the concepts first rather than just learn a specific technique. Its good for someone who knows what they are doing but you need to build an understanding first.

        My advice anyway...

          ^^^this^^^

Don't spend money on anything until you understand the basics of the business. Build a site, learn the basics and then buy a WSO if you are so inclined.

Stay away from this stuff, especially post-Panda. It's easier to write your own stuff.

PLR stands for private label rights.

It's content that you can reuse and copyright as your own.

The issue with PLR content is that tons of other people will have the same content as you, so you'll have to modify it to make it unique.

Woodward82 - I like the attitude you're carrying into your action. The sooner you start making mistakes the sooner you'll actually be moving forward toward success.

Some of the best advice I've received is to "Fail early, fail often, but always fail forward." Failing and being a failure are not the same thing. Failing isn't something to be scared of. Failing forward means that whatever happens, it still moves you ahead and you're farther along your road to success than you were.

Others have rightfully advised you to gain an understanding before spending too much money on WSOs. Read the forums here, pay attention to who writes posts that resonate with you and look for other posts by them.

When you decide to buy a WSO or two to help you along, you will find so many that can be helpful that it will be hard to choose. That's one reason to pay attention to who wrote the posts you get the most from. If they have a WSO then you'll likely get a lot from their WSO, too. Personally, I like the posts and products that Erica Stone (aka sojourn) writes. Her style, to me, is easy to read, she is thorough in her explanations (to the point of over delivering, some would say), and her philosophy of affiliate marketing is pretty much inline with mine.

Again, don't necessarily rush into it, but when you decide to by a WSO, here's the one I'd recommend first (yes, it's one of Erica's):

Extreme Review - How to build HIGH-QUALITY Amazon Review Sites Google loves - STEP BY STEP (not an affiliate link)

Best of luck on your journey forward.

        Peace

Thanks for all of the information. One more thing. I have of course heard that it is better to go with specific low targeted niche, find the right keywords ect. But I have recently heard that despite that its easier to rank in a small niche targeting a bigger audience, branding and just bringing something small to the table that others dont can provide a longer haul and better outcome.

Any thoughts on this. Right now I havent targeted a specific niche. Or really wouldnt know how to when it comes to just doing amazon reveiws. (arent most of there products big markets such as electronics, toys ect)

Before I started looking more into it I was just going to setup a site and try to do reviews on many subjects Electronics>TVS>LED - TOYS>Toddler>boys ect sort of in that structure would this be bad or good?

Ok, I think for the learning experience im going to go with a very specific niche, although this wasnt my intention from the beginning I think that this will be the most beneficial for my learning experience and keep me more on target and focused.

Here is what I have found

-Domain with exact keyword phrase (.net)
-3 word phrase specifically targeting the product.
    -12,100 Exact matches

From what I have got out of the Amazon affiliate program you receive a 4% commission. Unless of course you make a certain sales quota. Correct?

And will the .net and the keyword numbers be good enough. This is targeting a very specific product but also there are different manufacturers of the product. Ranging from $4 to $50 averaging around $8-$10 per product. I would think there is a low to mid range for purchasing relating items once they get to amazon if they buyer converts.

Also the top listing in that keyword phrase are Amazon and BestBuy. Would these be easy to beat? Or are they considered authority sites and be hard to compete with.

    Thanks

Don't bet the farm on Amazon. Diversify your income streams... you never know when Amazon will give you the boot because you're making too much money.

I've heard of that as a (rumored) issue with AdSense, but never with Amazon.

    Yes...Forget EMD's. Not a viable cost-effective long-term strategy.

How many EMDs have you yourself found, visited, and considered authoritative on whatever it was you were searching for in the last 2 years?

By EMD im guessing you mean Exact Match Domain?

If thats what your referring to I can only think of two .. and thats mainly because of a lot of advertising ..

What about the numbers for the keyword are those to low?

Start with just amazon postings.. then build out full fledged reviews for each of the products. write them by hand. optimize them well. link to your sales pages, show related products and accessories etc.. and backlink out of them.
