My first video. Please review

I am jumping into the video ocean and created my first video using my own voice. Since this is my first video with me talking it would be great to get some feedback as to how I can improve for future videos. It's a basic video with some powerpoint slides and me talking thru it.

Something that is hard for me to critique is my voice quality and in particular, my rate of speech, which is often fast.

So, I'm open to any feedback and constructive criticism you Warriors would like to share.

Many thanks in advance!!

Good video. Informative. I consulted for a business who made Alkaline Water Concentrate. The Ph levels you get with a concentrated product are off the charts. The company I consulted for was one of only 2 companies in the world who had the technology to do this. Alkaline Ph levels are important no matter how you get your levels corrected. So you are doing the public a tremendous favor by promoting such a product.

Your voice sounds fine. You may want to get a 'pop' filter. They're cheap. Any reason why you aren't on the screen yourself?

    Thank you for the feedback.

Marc: I use a Logitech headset to record it and then clean it up with Audacity. Are there pop filters for headsets? Or is there a way to clean up the pops using Audacity?

I decided to do PowerPoints with my voice just to get good with my voice itself. This way I won't have to think about too much so I can practice on my voice quality. I'm sure I'll be doing videos with me on them in the future.

Your voice is very good for videos, no problem there. The visuals are okay, if slightly mundane...(maybe it's the pure white bg)... but I have seen way worse. I think it's a good job overall.

If you are going to be doing more video marketing for this niche, I would strongly consider branding your videos for long term effect, and a more professional presentation, that could help you become more of the go-to person in this niche.

You may not need a webcam for these, but how about a slide-in mug shot, and short intro in the beginning such as, "Hey, this is TommyG for MyIonzerWebsite.com". I always like to start with a more impactful statement as well, such as "Did you know that the PH levels...", and then go into your script.

Visual branding is probably your biggest challenge here, and not only because anyone can just rip this video and claim it as their own, but because you DO sound knowledgable. I think you need to back it up with proper branding, as described in this video >

Thanks for the feedback Marty. I do like your idea of bringing up questions as it causes curiosity in the mind of the viewer and it will get them to click thru to my site.
Half way thru the video is where my site address starts. I thought I'd leave it out at the beginning to of this one to create curiosity and then bring it in when I talk about the buyer's guide.
But I see how adding it in the beginning can go far to improve branding. I like your video. While watching it I got a few ideas about future videos. Thank you for sharing it!

Now that's something that I never thought of before. I've never thought about my voice as being professional but I appreciate the votes of confidence from everyone here.

The hardest part for me is working with my voice. I had to practice speaking clearly but got it after about 4 or 5 tries.

The video was actually easy to do. First I created the article to use as a script. Then I recorded my voice using Audacity (it's free).
Then I created the slides based on the script and saved each one as a jpg in Open Office. I don't have a new version of PowerPoint that allows me to record the slide show so I had to do it this way.
Finally I opened Windows Movie Maker, added the audio and then each jpg. Save it and upload it.

I haven't worked with Camtasia or Cam Studio as they may be easier but if you don't have either one then you can still create videos using free software.

I agree with the others - it's a very good job, especially for your first attempt.

I'd suggest adding a little more text in the beginning slides, maybe just a few more bullet points to underscore what you're saying. I personally found it hard to follow your meaning until around a minute into the video. You need to grab the viewer's attention quickly so they'll keep watching.

Also consider using a larger, sans-serif font for the text (e.g Arial or Calibri) to make it easier to read.

Your voice quality and tempo is fine, and I like that you went to the trouble of editing out mistakes and stumbles. That makes a big difference in the final product.

        Keep up the good work!

Thanks Gail. One area that I've always had trouble with is finding a good font so thank you for the tips. I will be sure to try them.

I agree about adding more text to the slides. My next video is going to have more indepth info as well as added text to fill it up. I think it will help to keep the viewer there longer.

I loved this video. Your voice quality and tempo were perfect.

Also, I thought the content in your video was great. You started off telling viewers why they should listen to your reviews, not everyone else's. You had a great unique selling point. That is essential for any niche site.

However, on your actual website, I do not like the theme very much. It looked a little messy. Maybe look for someone to create a good banner for your site.

Just my thoughts, and good luck!

Hi Tommy, I quite like the video and your video voice. It was the clear voice that impressed me when the video begun.

As someone else mentioned, you could look into doing voice overs as you seem the have the correct tone, speed and pitch for a video. If you were considering doing this, then I would suggest using a more professional mic as they really do make a difference.

Overall, very good for a first video ...

Thanks to everyone for the kind words!

Ray: Yes it is safe. In fact, drinking alkaline water is extremely healthy. Some of the healthiest water in the world is alkaline naturally.

Jeremiah: I plan on doing many more videos. Instead of creating articles to submit to article directories I'll just use them in videos. After Panda I'm sure using them in videos will take my business higher than sending them to ezine.

Chris: Any good recommendations on mic's? I'm using a Logitech headset now but a pro mic with a pop filter will surely make my videos sound better.

A pop filter is about $15 on average I believe. You can also make one out of panty-hose, but buying was is better. You place it between you and the mic you are using (if you are using one). It removes the heavy breath "Ps" from the recording.

I use one with a Shure SM57 mic ($99). It's a professional mic, but well worth it. Great job with your video, but really impressed with your relax presentation of the overall message.

My plan is to create more videos. I am working on a couple of new videos and want to get them uploaded soon while adding more backlinks to the original one. I want to get to the point where I can create and upload 1 video per day. I want to make sure the quality is there first but I know with practice I will be there in no time at all.

Fantastic work there! You have got a good voice and did a very good job of explaining what you were trying to. The video is simple but I reckon this would be very effective. You may want to try out a few slicker options as far as your power point slides are concerned but honestly I don't see how that will hold you back from conveying your message effectively.
