You are playing with EA's trademark with that...not something I would recommend. If you don't have permission to use it, then don't use it.

I still dont get why you cant put it in the domain but you can have it in the url next to the domain: somegamer.com/battlefield3

Is it because a domain name is considered property or something along those lines? Or is that for a lawyer to answer?

Yes, it is because the domain is a unique property and recognized as the 'brand' of the business.

You would not be able to have a domain sonycameras.com, but it is fine to have digitalcameras.com/sony as the trademarked name is not part of the actual domain.

A URL is used to pass information, if tradenames were forbidden anywhere in the URL it would hamper ecommerce to not allow stores like Best Buy to pass this information. Something like:

        topelectronics.com/order?a=123sony67&pay=zxrt2&make=sony&model=thx415

Inventory, checkout and ecommerce systems need to be able to pass variables and parameters by the URL.

Although some companies will threaten legal action if you so much as write an article about them - even a complimentary one.

I agree with Joe here, I would avoid using a trademark name, for legal reasons, unless you have written consent to use it by the owner.

+1 there are many arguments EA could make, trying to dilute their brand, etc...I understand your question, why you'd ask, but Joe's answer bang on...
