Hey WF members,
I was wondering if there were any WF members that are experienced in e-commerce and IM, that wouldn't mind helping a newbie out with some advice and steering me in the right direction? I'm very passionate about this..Ive been making forums or groups every since middle school and now Im wanting to start a Internet business and make money. I'm just looking for a little advice or help. I'm now 22 yo and I feel like now is the time! If anyone could help me out by giving advice etc. out of the kindness of there heart this would be great! Please send a PM if this is you . EDIT: Here are a few questions that I have to get started.

1. Is it best to start out with a free blog/webhost like blogger/wordpress or to pay? Which is easier to use?
2. Which sites would you say are the best to host a blog/site for free or for a fee?
3. Not knowing specifically what niche I want to choose, whats the best way of finding different niche's
4. Is it best to choose a niche that has low competition and low searches to start out being successful?
5. What is the best way to get traffic to your site?
6. Best way to get your website viewed and entered into search engines?

Read the forum. The whole point of it is to provide advice and discussions for newbies like yourself to absorb. If you are looking for free coaching, well that is a different matter. Don't get your hopes up, as you haven't provided anyone with a reason for sacrificing their time to specifically help you.

There ya go. Now questions, we can work with:

If you don't have money to invest into building your own website then a free blog can be a good way to start. Just bear in mind that if you are hosting it on their domain (i.e yourblog.blogger.com or yourblog.wordpress.com) then all of your content is subject to their rules and regulations. This usually means no affiliate marketing or the like.

The work around for this is to shell out the small amount of money for a domain and hosting and place one of these blogs on that domain. If you want a personal opinion, I would say to go with Wordpress.

I use Hostgator, and have been happy with the service, ease of use so far. I would recommend it to others.

Pick something that interests you. If you are going to be starting a blog, you are going to need to create content. There is no use in forcing yourself to craft articles about a topic that you loathe.

Don't worry about whether or not your niche will "work". Any niche can be monetized with just a bit of creativity.

It is one route to take; but personally I still go for a niche that appeals to me on a personal level more than anything else. Competition may make the work harder; but if you are an expert on your topic and willing to provide quality competition doesn't matter much.

Now this will vary from person to person. Anyone else who answers this thread could have a completely different traffic strategy. If you have the ability to write engaging, useful content though I would recommend article syndication marketing. It is my main traffic strategy, and it is working well so far.

Search engines such as Google are all about providing an excellent end user experience these days. Focus on that, and the rankings will come naturally.

    • Thanks for the reply Joe,
I believe I'm going to start out paying for a blog or webhost. Will I have to pay separately for the domain or will It come with? Can you tell me whats the difference from the free hosts and the ones that cost? What more can you do on one that you pay for vs a free one? What are the benefits? Non benefits?

Is there a way I can search and see how much competition my niche has and how many searches, like almost in exact numbers..for free?

Also, I have another question? What is article syndication marketing?
  • 1. Buying a domain is normally best, try to use an exact keyword domain name and a .com or .net. These usually rank better than using a free domain.

    2. People's opinion on this will vary greatly. I use Hostgator and Bluehost for most of my sites.

    3. Try to find something that has a lot of traffic, but isn't too competitive. It also helps to find something you are interested in to take away some of the boredom.

    4. If possible it's best to find a high traffic, low competition niche, but you also want that nice to be profitable.

    5. This is another one that will vary by person, but I would say SEO because it's free.

    6. SEO
  • I'm new to the site and am looking for some advice on how to make 50,000 in 6 months. I want to pay off my daughters student loan for her graduation gift. I know that you don't know me and owe me nothing, but I would be eternally grateful for such a kind gesture.
    Thank You in advance.

      Cathlylynn,

I'll point you first to this thread, where someone asked a question along similar lines:

      $60,000 in 30 Days!

As the thread full of sarcastic and humorous responses will show you, it is probably not going to happen. I love the reason you are doing it though, I wouldn't mind having someone like you as a parent . Your best bet is to read up on some different techniques here, find a method you like, and implement it to the max. You won't hit $50,000 in 6 months (unless you are a prodigy at this kind of stuff) but you can be well on your way to paying off that loan in a couple of years, depending on how much time and effort you are able to put in.
    • Follow the yellow brick road.
Not trying to be an a## but too many people seem to think that IM /online business is some sort of magic shortcut to instant wealth.
