Ideas flow to me best when I'm away from the computer, so I would say yes.

Some people fall into the "trap" of working in one niche, and then spending their free time in that same niche.

Often, you can take great ideas from other aspects of life and apply them to your area of expertise to get a fresh, new idea to solve a problem for your audience.

    Cheers,

If you are a photographer, even an amateur, you can make money on vacation - stock agencies pay for travel photos, and they don't have to be Ansel Adams quality either. A lot of folks pay for their vacations this way.

Have you ever noticed post card racks at local restaurants, etc.? Someone had to take those pictures, and often if you ask the business owner, you can work out a deal for him to sell your pictures, mounted on postcard stock, for a commission.

Of course, vacations can be a networking opportunity - you never know when you might run into someone who needs your services - got some web dev business that way on my last trip.

    Just a couple ideas...

Few years ago, when I was travelling, saw very attractive banner about some service. There I was though that "Can't I use this template for web banner?" Not for me, a good idea for web banner designer.
