What sort of list do you want to build?

I have a very lucrative niche in mind that is the kind of the bad boy cousin to IM. So the techniques are IM but useful in this niche where most don't have a clue of how to grow their business. I'm trying not to give it away, but you may be able to guess lol

Buy solo ads to start with.

Once you've got enough subscribers you can do ad swap to grow list.

The best places for these are WF and safe-swaps.com

How to start a list :

#1 - Get yourself an autoresponder like aweber or getresponse

#2 - Create a 7 day email autoresponder giving them quality content

#3 - Upsell your list with your product(s)

#4 - Follow up with newsletters to your list on daily updates to your product(s)

These are the first steps to creating your list. The next steps would be to generate the traffic which you can either do organically or pay for via various media networks. I've done PPV which has boosted my list dramatically. This all depends on your forte and what you prefer doing, and which method works best for you

There are three great ways I'll recommend you concentrate on if you want to build a massive list in a very short period of time. These are:

Soloads: A soload is simply an endorsement of your product by someone else who already owns a big list, in exchange for a fee. Some of them can actually send you up to 3000 targeted people, and if your offer is great, you can easily get a list of 1200 – 1500 people overnight. And if you’ve added one-time offers, you’ll recover some of your costs instantly. I highly recommend this for everyone wishing to fasttrack his success.

You stand a better chance of success by buying email promotions, otherwise called soloads. These can be found in the JV room of this forum, reed floren's soloaddirectory or safe-swaps.

These though are basically for the IM niche. If you're in a non-IM niche, your best shot would be to contact ezine owners in these niches, probably best found in the directoryofezines.com

Adswaps: Having built a list with your soloads, you should now exchange email endorsements with other marketers looking to build their lists. This way, you could send 100 – 200 people to his free offer, while he does the same for you. This way, you can potentially increase your list by 2000 subscribers in a month.

Launching a 100% commission product: Creating a product, and finding affiliates who will promote for you can potentially help you build a massive list very fast, especially if you have an exit offer that redirects to your squeeze page. You can launch your product as a wso on the warriorforum, or on clickbank both of which have a great deal of affiliates.

some good tips have already been mentioned charlotte but i will give you a few more

1. make sure you are 100% positive that your niche is a lucrative niche

2. create a great, very high value free offer to build your list with

3. create an awesome product which you can sell to your list and (maybe use) as your OTO if you choose to do so and price it at $5 - $7 because at this stage you want to seperate your
freebie seekers from the ones that have the ability to pay

4. set up your auto-responder so you ALWAYS segment your buyers from your prospects

5. build your list super fast using solo ads and as long as you have a good funnel in place you will often make money which will pay for your solo ad and then rinse and repeat

6. create more low priced products and sell them to your list

Here is the basic overview of the method I've been using for building my list.
It is not by any means the only or the best way for building a list but it works very well.

Step 1: Create a squeeze page

Step 2: Create a free gift

Step 3: Sign up with an autoresponder

Step 4: Create a new list and opt-in form in autoresponder

Step 5: Connect opt-in form to your squeeze page

Step 6: Drive traffic to your squeeze page

When people get on your list you decide what you send to your list and how often
Send a good mix of free content and paid offers, build a relationship with your list
and the success will certainly come.

Integrate your squeeze page to your site and do some SEO for it. I can attest that if you have a squeeze page/good follow up messages on your site even if you are receiving only 50 visitors a day, you will be making some good money. The income might not be much but you won't have to borrow to pay hosting/domain/ and a few others.

Setup squeeze pages and get targetted traffic from PPC and Youtube.

It's free, simple and converts really well. Its the one I'm currently using on my sites.

Like other have said, the basics are to set up an autoresponder with great free content to send to your list. Second is to actually build that list using traffic generation to a free offer.

Ideally, you want to start somewhere where you don't have to invest huge amounts of money - if you think your niche is really that lucrative then you could opt for solo ads and PPC/PPV but you might want to consider a free WSO, 100% commission WSO (which is better because you'll get buyers on your list) and then there's always trying to get your free product on the back-end of a high quality WSO or product so you can list build from their buyers.

My best advice is to get your sales funnel all setup, spend a lot of time on it, map it out and get an opinion on it from a fellow IM'er. Subscribe to it yourself and test out the element of how the emails present in live situation.

The aim is not to sell. But to build a relationship to sell.

Here is some GOLD for anyone willing to listen.

If you want to build a list your have to remember that all list are NOT created equal. A buyers list is worth at least 10x times more than a list of freebie seekers. With that said most people will not do the following but it is without a doubt the BEST way to build a list.

Step 1: You need to meet someone who is actively growing a large list IN PERSON

Yea, this means that you actually need to get out in the world and stop hiding behind your computer which so many unsuccessful IM'ers do. The most effective way to meet someone is still in person...not with a email. Meeting these kind of people is not as difficult as you think

Step 2: Learn how to create a valuable product that complements his/her person's customer base.

You can do this by simply asking them what they need. And creating valuable products is pretty simple once you understand how people learn. I would recommend checking out a product called 48hourreport or something like that. It's by Jason Fladlien

Step 3: Ask this marketer to place it on his download page so his customers receive it as a gift once they buy their product.

And the only thing that it requires to get the gift is their name and email address.

Simple.

Plus your getting a list of BUYERS!!!

Believe when I tell you this works. In fact, I know someone who built a buyers list of 30,000 in a year and a half for FREE.

I can tell you this. When building a list you need to reach the correct audience for the product or service you are offering of coarse, but building the list is the easy part. It's keeping the list that takes more work. To do this you need to be careful about what you send your list and make sure it's not a bunch of junk mail. If you want to keep your list you need to make them want to stay with valuable information.

Last thing, make sure you have a good reason why should they opt-in.

The best part of list building is that it's NOT affected by the 10 million algorithm changes implemented by google every day.

First of all, list building should ALWAYS be in the forefront of every marketer's plan
no matter what they are promoting. Most newbies go to place like ClickBank, grab a
high gravity product and promote.. and then wonder why they're struggling
List building should be your only focus when starting out.

Build a squeeze... promising an awesome free product.. good solid followup with email
series ... and build up trust and credibility and the sales will come

Ok this is what you do, first familiarize yourself with a problem that is in your niche audience. For instance in the Network Marketing Niche Network marketers all want to know how to get leads or more people to talk to.

Then either create a training or find a free dowloadable report that you can give away for free. Next put that report on a capture or squeeze page. Within the headline of the page you want to state the obvious so continuing with my example your headline should say something like

"Are You A Network Marketer Who's Tired of Chasing Your Friends and Family, Would You Like to Discover The Secret Techniques to Getting 50 Leads A Day From People Just Begging To Join Your Business, Download My Free Report To Learn How"

Something to that effect, basically state the problem, state a compelling result, and position your report as the solution. Once you've built yourself a good Squeeze Page make sure that what ever articles you write or what ever post you make anywhere on the internet points back to that page.

My list building went a little different than most. I built my list by creating a product and sold it on the Warrior forum giving 100% commission. It helped to drive affiliate traffic.

Big mistake I made was not having a backend offer. Had I done that, I could have made a little money and increased the epc so I could have attracted more affiliates.

I was able to get an interview with Lee McIntyre about list building and that was my 1st product. I then took the process of creating the 1st wso and showed people how to do the same thing and that was my second wso.

I really like building a list of buyers, I find they are way more apt to be responsive to subsequent offers than the freebies, but I build freebies and convert as many as I can too.
