At the risk of getting laughed off the forum...

...What's the forum's up-to-date take on PPC?

I'm launching a new product. I know the opinions on getting other IMers to contact their lists and split the money, but there's another school of thought:

Pay PPC and keep ALL the money.

My niche is 'how to copyright' so there are a lot of searches, as far as I can see.

@OP adsense section is a great section and my favorite on here, they'll be kind to you, and most likely answer your question.

At the risk of irritating my fellow Warriors, with whom I agree, by the way, I'll add this...

When you post in the PPC section, make sure you are very obvious about using PPC to drive traffic to your offer. There are a lot of folks on that section whose idea of Pay-Per-Click begins and ends with creating sites for Adsense.

Ask a plain-spoken question and avoid getting a bunch of well-intentioned but totally off-topic replies.

A warrior who would be irritated by clarity is a sad Warrior indeed...

Since it hasn't been deleted just yet, I'll add this:

The reason JV type marketing works so well is that (in theory at least)
you are borrowing the trust that other people have already built with
their lists. You are able to start out on a higher level of relationship
when someone personally recommends you and your product/service.

PPC on the other hand... Well, it's difficult to build much trust in a few
lines of obvious advertisement. So you have to get them to a landing page,
and either get a percentage of them to buy immediately, or even
better get them to sign-up for your list... Then, you build a relationship
of credibility and trust from scratch.

For most people, baking cookies from scratch is just not going to happen,
but it's pretty easy to pop some pre-made cookie dough in the oven for a few minutes.

PPC is really a quick way to tell what keywords are truly your buyers. You have to really have an excellent keyword and marketing research tool. PPC is like classified ads you will find your pure buyers and test your marketing research process. If you test and track your sales you can turn off your none paying keyword and drill down in your profitable ones. I made 12,830 dollars in 1 year selling registry repair tools and diet weight loss product. And this is just PPC no emails or email list or jv. If you want to make money with PPC it can be done but your marketing research has to be flawless.

Weird, I've never had a keyword buy anything from me at all. :p

      But yes, this is correct...
PPC is a great way to market almost anything, if you have the money to invest, but don't make the mistake of thinking that it is less work than other methods. You still have to do a lot of time-consuming planning, testing, tracking, and adjusting, just like any other form of marketing.

And, as as HolyWarrior pointed out, you're paying for the PPC campaigns, so you're not really keeping "ALL" of the money, are you?

You may look at it as keeping ALL the profits for yourself, but you're still going to have to spend something on your PPC efforts.

If you have a good relationship with some people that have substantial list sizes, then go ahead and make a deal with them about promoting your product. The worst they can say is "no", and even then, there's plenty of other marketers out there who are interested in making money.

I believe you should build up some revenue with a joint venture or two, then use your earnings to invest in PPC.

    Joseph,
the mods are out to lunch.
    Gee, thanks.

Seriously, I don't think anyone reported this one. Just as well, since it gave John the opportunity to post his suggestion about being specific. That's good advice in general.
