Where is my traffic coming from?

OK, I feel like a dope. Here's the story.

I started a new website in early December. At first I was using the generic merchant.com/affiliate affiliate link for every link I created.

Then I realized that I would want to know what pages/forums, etc was generating my traffic.

So I changed all of the buy now links on my website to individual redirects that will show me where the click came from in the merchants stats.

Works great except 60-80% of the traffic I'm generating to the merchant site is still coming in through the generic link.

My problem is I have forgotten creating some links online somewhere and I cannot for the life of me remember where those links are.

Is there a way that I can find the source of these clicks? In other words, find where those links are posted?

As I said, I feel like a dope but still sure could use help.

Thanks all,

John Mann

This is just a pure guess, buy i'm assuming you have the link, you just want to know about posting it. Try this:

Google search the link in quotation marks for example

"http://www.yourlink.com" - This should bring up where the link is posted, well thats what I am guessing... Just a suggestion.

Just sign up for a google analytics account and place the code into your site. It'll then let you know a number of things from referral sites and the keyword that was used to get to your site.

Firstly, don't feel like a dope - I'm sure you're not the first person this has
happened to and it sure as heck won't be the last, lol.

I don't have any new answers for you, as the the two replies you've already
gotten sound very helpful. I'm sure other peeps out there have gotten/will get help
from your asking for this advice

You could block the IP ranges using htaccess file.
