Have You Been Succesful in the Meditation Niche?

Hey Warriors, I'm just curious if any of you have had much success in the meditation niche, but more specifically...having an email list in the meditation niche?

I actually have an interest in this area, but the only products I see in it are the typical audio tracks to help people relax and meditate, or books on the subject.

I'm thinking of doing some list-building only for this specific niche segment at this point, but am also researching the market for possible QUALITY products to promote as well down the line.

Anyone have any thoughts or input in this area?

    I haven't.

It doesn't seem like a hungry niche to me. I didn't wake up this morning thinking...MAN! I REALLY NEED TO MEDITATE. BADLY.

So I fail to see why someone else might.

I could say the same thing about scrapbooking, but just because I wouldn't have a personal interest in it doesn't mean it doesn't have a market (and scrapbooking does).

My point is, your reply was subjective only.

That is why a different angle is needed. Meditation is the solution, but what is the problem? The problem could be:

      Stress
      Anxiety
      Fear
      Unhapiness

      etc.

      These are hungry problems.

    Hi Dayne,

I believe every niche have it's own market...although meditation is such a narrow niche

Actually I've just start working on it. Since I practicing meditation...it's seems easier for me to involve.

Have been searching for the e-book, but it seems quite hard to get the one with quality I need, so now I am focusing on build the list while keep on searching it.

    Cheers,
    Amanda

I know someone who is KICKING ASS in the online meditation niche. In fact, he was in the original 'The Secret'. Check out the site centerpointe dot com. LOVE their products as well.

It's a good niche, certainly with loyal customers. Mostly women.

You need to keep any marketing very personal, and always positive, optimistic. The relationship aspect in this niche is more important than in many other niches.

Actually, like any self help sub-niche, it draws a lot of people who have trouble coping with their problems, the life, the universe and everything. If they feel you understand and help them and care for them, they will stick with you.

Regarding quality products: from meditation you can branch out into anything self-help, anything esoteric, spiritual. Depending on your target group you can choose the follow up product topics.

Look at book publishers catalogues to see how topics fit together.

      I'd focus completely on women.

If you want to market to men, probably go for the more adventurous stuff like mind powers, astral travel etc., or - move on to more worldly topics like success, goal setting etc.

but the only products I see in it are the typical audio tracks to help people relax and meditate, or books on the subject.
Well, yes. What else would you want to sell?

Usually you'd sell audios, ebooks, videos. Then the same in form of memberships, or coaching groups - both delivering audios, ebooks, videos for ten times the money. ;-)

You could also branch out to well ness and beauty products, but that's a far stretch compared to just giving them more audios, life changing courses etc.

Like with any other good niche: the product never fullfils the need. That's why they keep coming back to buy more of the same.

It also can extend to people who are stuck in life in general, who are really stressed out, who are losing their minds ... meditation helps.

It's how you package it, the positioning and angle that you market.

depending on your level of expertise, you could even offer how-to guides to people who want to take it seriously, spiritual enlightenment and true inner peace and stuff (those are my assumptions)

It may not be a fantastically huge market, but I believe it's niche enough to dominate.

I have a small website that has info on meditation on it. I only use adsense to monetize it and found a couple of long tail keywords to target. I haven't touched the site in years and I still constantly make a few bucks a month of of it, so the potential is there for sure.

There are many personal development and self help people who would gladly try meditation if they knew what it was and what it could do for them. If you're knowledgeable about the topic consider putting up a blog and adding good content three or four times a month on meditation and related topics.

Personally I have not tried although I did sell an ebook once on the subject with virtually no effort on my part. I know a group that do real well in this niche, and when I say real well i mean to say that they dominate it. Its because they dont just sell meditation tracks, they sell audios from a spiritual teacher, they do live classes, have an online forum so on and so forth.

Dayne, the meditation and even the spiritual niches are wide open and have minimal competition.

Also, it seems like the number of people awakening to the ideas of meditation and spirituality for well being is increasing year over year... Its always good to be in a growing niche.

Creating audio meditations can be fairly simple and setting up a freemium give-away to build your list with is pretty easy, too. If they have a positive experience with with your meditations, you will have what you need to create a very responsive email list.

Ralf Skirr is right on point... And to get even more specific about the demographic, probably women between the ages of 35 and 65 with children.

The $5M prize goes to...TheEmporer - read his post carefully as he gives you the BIG clue to making it in any self-help or alternative health website...focus on the problem and offer a unique solution. Meditation is a small niche, those who want an answer to how to relax or how to reduce stress or how to overcome anxiety, etc... is the real niche

Meditation is in the borderline "self help" niche. To my knowledge (and testing)... self help products dont sell really well. It's almost like trying to get people to join a religion.

My niche is basically about meditation. Well that's what I need to try and convince everyone to start doing.

If you can get them to meditate, pass them onto me and it will make my job a lot easier lol.

I don't think there is going to be much interest there. I have one site on hold right now that deals with meditation and spirituality in general, well actually 2. One that deals more with LOA and manifesting and the other dealing more with spiritual side of things and psychic development.

I would say this. If you have a number of different audios, videos, books, affiliate offers to offer do your thing. If you don't then it gets kinda rough. My thing was to write 2 books and base the sites around the books. I want them both to be membership sites, but don't know which direction to go in whether to make them social sites for loa and spirituality, with products or whether to set them up as affiliate sites.

I'm thinking you will probably end up going in the same direction I am and that is to make it something where you come out with your own or someone elses audios, books, videos, etc and just base the whole project on it. You know like the sedona site, or deepak chokpra site something like that.

The problem with the whole idea is that there's not much new to add to it. I mean a new form of meditation is not going to hit the market every month and how often can you tell someone the secret of the secret .

In theory most of the WF crowd could actually use the information and the practice, but how do you explain to people that this world is a dream and they create their own realities?

I agree with Walter in that there's nothing groundbreaking related to meditation that comes out every month. Even the occasional 'new' stuff that surfaces often turn out to be a rehash of some form of visualization or hypnosis or brainwave entrainment or mindfulness practices. This niche happens to be my hobby for the last 30+ years. The thing I notice with this niche(and this is my personal observation), is that even when someone comes up with a truly breakthrough system, it takes years for the rest of the crowd to catch on and adopt. Also, I don't see the real 'Starving Crowds' in any of it's sub-niches.

What are your thoughts about the binaural beats niche? Is it really worth going into, or is it even "hungry" enough/large enough, to profit from?

I don´t like binaural one bit, when the brain shoots in phase you have seizures.

I would look into chakra music, chakra atunements (there is a product in clickbank about it, but doesn´t look very well from the outside), singing bowls...

To put people down a funnel, think on growing into the meditation field. Look into Jon Kabat-Zin.

Meditation is not just sit on a pillow, you can train yourself to retrieve emotions at will and keep them in place for long periods of time. Some of these emotions have healing proprieties, like loving kindness for example.

You can also connect it with essential oils and crystals, many help to get deeper.

Finally, there is a strong connection between meditation and yoga; yoga strengthen the body for meditation.

It is an interesting niche, my main niche overlaps with it.

It's all about framing the problem and offering the solution. Look at Mind Valley, they make a fortune from all kinds of self help sub niches including meditation.

Same goes for binaurals, it's all about positioning it correctly. I actually just finished a product with a client/partner along those lines... but it's totally different than the usual stuff.

It could do very well depending on the way you market it.

For instance, some people view "meditation" as some sort of "religious" exercise.

However, if you marketed it as "mind relaxation exercises" for example, targeting the stress relief market, you have a very hungry market.

In this day and age, who doesn't suffer from the effects of stress in some form or fashion?

I have been successful compelling a list but it was more with the objective of meditation to manifest something.

If you go into this thinking you'll promote meditation products, that's probably the wrong approach. Meditation is a niche people like to read about, but they don't really need to buy much for it. I would think about building a list and thinking about what you can promote as complimentary products.

It is a niche that interests me, both personally and professionally. From what I can tell, it really seems more geared toward product creators. I seems like it might be a challenge for an affiliate, though. Huge potential in any case, I think.

    Hi Dayne Dylan,
What came to my mind was Mind Valley. If I'm not wrong, they do get involve meditation in their business (sorry for the lack of proper description). You can try to look at one of their sub websites, mindvalleyacademy and see some of the people whom they work with for some ideas. Just see under categories and you will find products like Silva Life System, Quantum Jumping, etc.

    Hope this helps!

Meditation is something that's be growing in awareness this past year. More and more 'stars' are mentioning meditation as part of their daily plan and as such you will will get the followers who want to try - which means most of them will want to buy any 'instant Nirvanah' secrets going.

Audio and video will always have a place, but don't forget to cater to readers too. Physical books may not be huge day in day out sellers, but the local bookshops always have some available in this niche and they wouldn't stock them if they didn't sell.

The people who are knocking the niche are the people who wouldn't buy the stuff anyway and there will always be those people, no matter what niche you're in.

As many 'gurus' have said, "There's no need to have a new idea. Just re-package the existing ones that work."

If you plan to be a success, you'll be successful. If you don't plan, you're planning to fail.

Hey my friend, I think the meditation niche is a great way to go. Self -Help and Personal Development often times share the same audience as people looking to make money.

Im not saying always. But there is a huge market for self help and personal development out there.

Go for it and kick butt!
