  • Not everyone has time for or cares to watch a video, so I see no reason why it won't work.
  • I think free eBook squeeze pages will always have a market. As another poster said not everyone wants to sit and watch a video. This is especially true for someone at work who has to have their speakers low or off. I personally rarely watch videos online.
  • I don't do ebooks but I do use other forms of incentive and yeah it's working perfectly fine
  • That would depend on where you advertise and what is your target market. Some niches might need heavy graphics and some don't. So, ask your self if your niche need one.

    • I have a squeeze page without video, and I have 10 people on my list. I do think that video provides an extra promotion, but I need to master YouTube before I attempt to put a video on my site.
  • I'm not much into videos or video squeeze pages for that matter. I still prefer an Ebook. That way I can skip over the fluff and ads and just read the content. The videos tend to get really boring, regardless of the niche.

    • ebook landing pages/squeeze pages are still very effective ...

not everyone likes to watch videos, some like to read, others like to watch videos, just test the market, try 2 different squeeze pages 1 with ebook giveaway and another with video give away .... test test test

  • Do you have graphics?
  • Just make sure your squeeze page has an inviting design with catching call to action. It will work!
  • Hi , Free ebook squeeze book does work but make sure your ebook is a quality ebook otherwise they will unsubscribe faster than you think. and also it is a good practice to split test..with and without the video.
  • I think you should link us the page but as long as you are promoting the page well it will still work very well for you.
  • I think video works better on most squeeze pages. I have tested a lot and have over 100 squeeze pages with most having video.

It's easy to make a short promo video. Just create a few slides, then use se screencastomatic.com(It's Free) to record your screen. Buy a microphone and while your record the screen, give a brief explanation of your offer and close your video by instructing the website visitor to optin to get it.
  • Yeah according to Jason Fladlien, videos are not as good as they're hyped up to be when it comes to selling as well.

for any product below $97, he never uses a video and consistently says that copy only works better.

Just something to think about coming from a big marketer.

    • Couldn't agree more.... Being in this business since 1989 we learned that concise, informative, and attractive copy will result in more clicks than using videos. No matter how good the video is - internet browsers tend to be fussy and often NOT work - causing visitor frustration - resulting in less "clicks"........ We research OM constantly. As we explore Warrior Forum we are forced to refresh the internet browser on almost every page containing a video. (And yes, we have the latest and greatest updates to all the internet browsers we use.) We rarely use videos...

  • If your FREE e-book is compelling enough, it'll work. I'm doing the same shortly!

Hm, surprising that no one has suggested split testing yet. Yes, a written content page can still work well as a squeeze page; but why not try both and really figure out which works better for your specific niche?
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • ive been using a video squeeze page for the last year or so and my page converts between 45% - 55%

its a lot harder to get those types of converions when you just use text, not impossible but a lot harder

videos sell more and build credibility and trust a lot which increases the conversions

best way to be sure though is split test

i use google wbsite optimizer, its basic but it works great. split test a video squeeze page with a standard text page and see which works best

  • another fan of ebook squeeze pages... not everybody is into videos...
yet I like the idea of the split testing Joe suggested!
  • i think it is more on what kind of ebook you are offering and i don't think you relly need a video for a free ebook but it depends on the topic , some time the video squeeze is converting much better . I suggest you create 2 page 1.- only text and another with videosqueeze and then see wich one convert the best.
  • Yes! Both video squeeze pages and text squeeze pages will work. Videos can be more effective, but simple, good-looking text squeeze pages can work wonders.
  • Both work. Text squeeze pages are more common and video squeeze pages have seen a
rise in popularity with rise of YouTube. The logic being, people love watching videos so
the video on squeeze page should work great. On the flip side, people are very busy and
attention span is lower than ever, so sometimes they will just take a quick glance at the
squeeze page and read just the headline before subscribing.
  • Both can be successful. Its HOW you implement it.

Personally, quick text squeeze pages work well for me
  • Yeah this form of squeeze page still works. Consider throwing a hover ad on your squeeze page also to boost your opt-in conversion rates.
  • well, in my own opinion, i think there are some instances when a video squeeze page will let you down. this is because visitors who do not have a very fast broadband internet connection will have difficulty viewing you tube videos. i have seen this happen several times over
  • Your email opt in form should be in the first view of the page rather you have to scroll down to the bottom
  • I've seen great results from just using text. Success of your squeeze page depends on many factors such as:

    -ad copy
    -desire for your product
    -layout
    -graphics
  • Free ebooks still work. But in some markets, they might not convert as well as video. You really have to test this and see on your own.

With that said, I always use free eBooks. For one list, I've used the same ebook since 2006 and it still gets a number of subscribers on a daily basis.

So like someone said; there will ALWAYS be a market for free ebooks.

    • I prefer to use ebooks for traffic that is cold you.

For people on my list I may send them to a video page, as they have gone through the know, like and trust process so will be a little more patient with the pitch.

Video is good just do not be fooled by the marketing fashion that all the tried and tested methods are redundant.
  • Sure they still work, I have several for different niches that do not have video on the page. That said, you should always test these things, when you think about 100's to 1000's of visitors reaching that squeeze page each day a different of % points in conversion mean a huge difference to your list building and profits - definitely worth the test in my mind.

  • It's like comparing email marketing with text(sms) marketing, still email marketing works, but text marketing is working a bit better nowadays,

So same with text squeeze page, it will work, but the trend i am seeing right now is of video, but text should give you the results you need still.

    Cheers,
  • I'm not sure what motivated this question but
I can't think of anytime in the future when
    that formula would not work.

The "newness" punch of videos has lost it's
effect like any other new trend would and
although videos still work it's not a guaranteed
    advantage over text only.

  • i've got dozens still converting strong - definitely yes
  • Yes it does still work. It's what i'm using right now to get lots of leads.
  • Personally, I can't stand videos on squeeze pages. They drive me up the wall, honestly. Especially ones that start playing on their own (most of them) rather than letting me choose to play the video or not. I would rather read text ANY day of the week than be forced to hear a video start playing when I had not expected or wanted one to.

Of course I'm also kind of weird in general, so I'm probably not a good representation of the majority.

Maybe try creating a video squeeze page and A/B test both to see which gets better results...??
  • I usually skip videos. free ebook have its own market so i dnt believe that people only go with videos.
  • Ebook + a few free videos is the way to go.
  • You are asking the wrong question and because of that you are getting the wrong answer.

Long story short, it obviously works, but what you need to think about is how effective it really is in comparison to other techniques. Even tho some mentioned people have no time to watch a video, from my experience I would be much more attracted to an offer which has a short video presentation than a page that promises you an ebook after you fill in your email adress.

It is all a matter of how effective it will be, but one thing for sure is that it does work.

    Good luck.
  • I don't which web platform you use but it would be good use Google Web Optimizer ,which is a part of Google Analytics, to run split test to see which landing page layout gets the most conversions.
