Flippa Is Just Getting FAR TO EXPENSIVE!! Do You Agree?

These days dont you think flippa is getting far to expensive! They are taking it to far now, here is my evidence:

Flippa's minimum sucsess fee has gone up from $5 to $10. They probbaly realised that lots of website flippers sell sites for under $200 so people who sell websites for under $200 are having to pay for.

I remember back in august of 2011 the front page listing was $30, now its $50!

If you actually want to sell your site you have to spend $19 on a listing and $50 on a front page listing, and if the site dosent sell you are left in dept of $69! I probably spent over $500 on flippa for it to go down the drain!

VOTE ON THIS POLL, I WILL PRESENT MY FINDINGS TO FLIPPA AND HOPEFULLY ALL OF US CAN GET CHEAPER FLIPPA LISTINGS!

More and More flippa discussion lol.

As I mentioned before, it is their site, they can charge you $1k per listing if they want. Flippa has no real competition and as long as you own the market. You got to name your price

until a real competitor show up to balance up the market

A discussion we started few days ago about Flippa : http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ternative.html

They're going to do whatever it takes to maximize their revenue. If the increased prices ran people off, they wouldn't do it. So I'm assuming people are staying and paying more money.

I doubt they would care. Heck, they're probably purposely raising their prices to weed out the crap so they can start specializing in high-end sites. That certainly is a good thing for buyers. But maybe not so good for sellers who just want to pump out a dozen crap sites into the marketplace each week.

I agree with you 100%... i think they are trying to weed out the people that are creating junk sites then flipping them for a profit...

Well there's always other website selling places. Not as good as flippa, but if you have a nice profitable website, it should sell soon. But i doubt if flippa will change their prices because of a poll that you created.

This argument reminds me of the eBay argument. Everyone moans about their fees, but when you look at the fact you're getting TARGETED traffic sent to your listing (both on eBay and Flippa), the fees are worth it in my opinion.

Most (if not all) of the people on here are in the internet marketing game - you know how hard it'd be to start your own website to flip sites on. Flippa fees do suck for sure, but bear in mind how easy it makes selling your site - I know I'd be lost without Flippa. Everyone always says "sure, but you can sell sites on forums instead" - but I always find listings on Flippa go for far more than forum listings - so the extra fees are usually justified.

No way it's not too expensive. Just don't sell uber-cheap sites on there (<$300) and the fees are quire reasonable. You will probably sell your site for more on Flippa than, for example if you tried to sell it on Digital Point or one of the other alternatives, so the extra income from a better auction will more and make up for the extra fees.

If you feel you can do better go ahead and make your own marketplace.

I think that the rise in fees is a bit annoying but hopefully it will discourage people from selling low value sites there.
I am still making good money there. Maybe it just means flipping one more site a month/year to make up the difference in fees.
Its still the most successful place to sell sites.

I notice the basic listing fee is now $29, not $19.

Other fees have also increased such as the highlight at $10 instead of $5.

They are taking the piss a bit now imo...

Buyers wouldn't stick around very long if sellers moved their listings. I mean, there wouldn't be anything to buy, would there?

Some day a competitor will come along and take those sellers away.

  • We are creating a Flippa alternative, a bit different, we are either going to go listing fee or success fee, but not both. There will however be stronger requirements then Flippa, one of our requirements will be the site has to be at least 6 months established, unless it's a domain only. We need to finish coding it and then next comes SEO and the traffic push. Will let everyone know when it's ready.

The road to replacing Flippa is littered with the bodies of those who tried. I think most look at Flippa and think, "I can do that better!" without really understanding what that means.

Honestly, I'm fine if Flippa keeps raising their prices if it means less junk auctions to dig through to find the gems. I think that's something to take into consideration...if Flippa were free, it would be MISERABLE for buyers...

    • I don't think it's easy for a fact I am very well educated on the facts and inter-workings. I think they need competition or we buyer/sellers are all going to have a problem in the future. That is why my company is slowly building a new solution to Flippa. No free postings, they lead to garbage and spammers. I am talking about a whole new selling and buying experience.

Now let me explain something about Flippa that goes beyond price, it has a fair amount of fraud, some in your face fraud but also soft fraud, the kind that most buyers can't detect. Our solution puts a stop to all that and lets the buyer/seller have a confidence that Flippa cannot or refuses to give. I cannot say to much but the end result will be great.

We have other projects we are working on and I am always looking for a new property to buy or build. So this is part of a larger picture.

I haven't noticed any lack of junk since they started raising their prices from the time that they were still on the Sitepoint site. In fact, when it was on the Sitepoint site, I often found great bargains to pick up. There's just so much junk now, it's too time consuming to look for them and many of them have disappeared due to the high prices. I used to be a buyer on Flippa as well as a seller much more than I am now.

If I am selling a site that costs more than 5K in a very competitive niche, I wouldn't mind paying.
But for an ordinary seller who is selling sites under $100, this is hurting..

With them raising their costs to list, this is probably one of the biggest reasons why.

Maybe they are tired of all the "turn-key business" and recently build "HUGE Adsense earnings" sites that seem to proliferate their listings.

My mistake, it was a typo.. I mean $1000.
But anyway, people who still want to empty other people's pockets by selling useless products still find ways... The technique is to sell package of so-called potential-earning websites instead of selling 1 turnkey site, so they can dodge the placement costs.
