My Best Productivity Tip - It's So Simple But Effective

Hi,

I want to share my best productivity Tip that keeps me on track and makes me stay efficient.

I Use the Very Handy Egg Timer!

Step by step:
  1. I divide each "shift" into 1 hour.
  2. I dedicate 50 minutes to some task that is part of my business plan.
  3. The remaining 10 I get Coffee/Water and about 5 Min Exercise
  4. Then I do it all over again.

My business plan is divided into a select few core areas that I'm focusing on and I could not work this plan efficiently if I did not have that all worked out.

Hope that helps :-)

  • It sounds simple and easy to follow. Thanks for the helpful tip.
  • Yup, sounds good!

Typically, I just put a timer on my cellphone for between 20-60 minutes (depending on the task). During that time, I block out the world and work.

    • Never thought about using an egg timer!

I do pretty much the same thing with the timer on my phone.
But I only set it for 45 minutes and then have a 15 minute break afterwards.

  • Hi,

Yes it's very easy to follow and that's why I like it.

In the breaks I have a little workout with some "rubber cables" to prepare for the next hour.
  • Simpleology is good (not only for productivity). I followed it few years ago but I lost myself in the way. The power sources concept (Time, Energy and Money) is great!

I tend to divide each shift into 30 minutes. If a task takes more time than 30 minutes I try to split it in more tasks:

    Install wordpress
    Install theme
    Install plugins

    instead of

    Create wordpress blog.
  • Hey,

Simpleology looks very good, thanks for the tip.

    • I had the same problem too. I started with it a good year and a half ago, and lost focus on it. But three months ago, I started again and it paid off more than anything else I did. Its not only the software itself, but also the courses that hooked me up. ^_^

      Especially "The Irresistible Offer"

This course changed my view on Marketing in general like nothing else.

      best regards,
      Mike
  • I try to take a day at a time, when working with my business plan. I usualy take care of clientes, and other things that need to be adressed first such as (writing services and promoting services) than I try to take some time out of the day to go on here, warrior fourm to learn some new things that I haven`t learn`t before. After taking care of all the things that need attention, than I go and check on my blog and check on things that I normally need to check on a daily basis.

    • I have a mini cycle under my desk. Believe it or not, you can get great exercise pedaling away with just a few minutes each hour through out the day. Sometimes I use a little timer with it.
  • I do the similar thing. I use periods of one hour, just because it's easier to measure,
but in theory 45 minutes is ideal.

This works great to fight Parkinson's law which states that work expands to fill the
time allocated for it. Make your maximum effort and measure how much time it takes
to do a single unit of work (e.g. write one article). Then set a timer and dedicate
yourself to doing an amount of work you can do in one hour at your maximum
    performance. Works perfectly.

    • Sounds good.

I've never heard about the Parkinson's law before but it sure exists LOL ... no doubt.

      :-)
