What Can I Work On In One Hour A Day?

I work from home and have about one hour a day to sit at my computer working on how to make money online. If you're wondering why one hour it's because that's when my two little ones are having their afternoon nap.

I am finding by the time I go through my emails, my hour is nearly up so I don't get a chance to do anything else.

I just wanted to know what you're thoughts would be to make the most of the little time I have each day.

Looking forwarding to hearing your ideas and tips.

Thanks
Wendy

It's surprising how much you can actually do in one hour actually but I guess in the initial stage just the learning part would take up all your time. What have you gotten into already so far?

Apart from running an eBay store, I am doing affiliate marketing.

I've done some articles and I have a couple of blogs and squidoo lens. Plus I have numerous content rich Adsense sites (not yet marketed so no traffic).

I know I need to do more marketing.

I've been spending some time on Yahoo Answers building up a reputation and using it to promote. But I keep getting my account suspended for a violation they won't tell me about. But dont' get me moaning about that...lol

    Cheers

    Wendy,

My wife is pretty much in the same boat.

The solution we came up with was to have a solid roadmap, knowing pretty much every minute where she is and what should be the next step.

This way when she sits at the computer she can start doing profitable things right away, and keep focused, instead of wasting half of her "free" time picking things up.

Maybe you can try to build your own roadmap... In week-ends, or when you have a bit more time, try to think ahead, and write the steps down on a piece of paper.

For instance step 1 - write 2 articles; step 2 - submit the articles to your blog; step 3 - add the RSS to 10 bookmark sites, and so on. Then as you do each step, you tick it.

There's also a side benefit of this system; since you have everything documented, once you start having some success you can easily type everything in the computer, add some screenshots, format it and what not and you have an ebook you can promote and help others start up.

    Hope this helps.

Looks like you're doing quite a lot of things already Wendy. Just head on down that marketing direction if you feel you're progressing.

I second Catalin's advice. Maybe you need to reevaluate your focus and establish a work system. You'll get much more done that way and with better results too because of the concentrated effort. A lot of people (myself included initially) make the mistake of trying to do too many things at once or trying too many new things. Instead, choose 1 or 2 projects that you can put all your energy into and develop on that.

Maybe you can also do something about the time spent on checking email. We tend to waste a lot of time on that. Maybe you can take a cue from Tim Ferriss' Four Hour Work Week and batch process your emails to say, twice a week? That'd give you 5 hours extra I don't do this myself though because I don't have that much email to deal with. It usually takes no more than 5-10 minutes to get in and out of my inbox. When I do need to type out a long reply, I'll usually reserve one day in the week for it.

Man that sucks. The best thing you can do since you did say you are working on how to make money online, is just use that hour here at the forum learning. Just learn as much as you could, write down notes or whatever until you get more time to implement what you've learned.

I think you should try yourself in website flipping. You can start building blog adding one or two unique post per day. In a week or two you will have site with 20 or more articles. Ping every post at pingomatic.com. Then try to get few back links. You can use blogger, squidoo, wordpress to get these links. Use digg.com and submit articles about your blog or website there.

Then just sell your site at sitepoint.com or digitalpoint.com market place and start new one. I did it many times with great success.

    Thanks for all your input.

I liked your idea Catalin about writing everything down. As you said, you have an ebook in the making.

Did your wife turn her roadmap into an ebook?

      That's the plan...

For now, she just follows the steps we have laid out, and the results are starting to show up.

It's not much, about $3 - $4 per day in AdSense, since that's what she does for now, but it's a start. And seeing some income from her work motivates her to go on.

looks like you have gotten a lot done already. i'm a big fan of todo lists. i break down everything into very small tasks and put an estimate of how long each task would take next to it. i make sure to make the tasks as small as possible (30 minutes of work and under) because nothing feels like work is getting done more then checking something off a list haha. it might sound lame but that's what works for me.

I would keep it real simple. Maybe try building a niche site using something like wordpressdirect. That would require less then an hour a day to get that going.

I always do best when I'm working on somehting I enjoy. I'm currently building a couple of niches sites in areas that I enjoy as hobbies already.

    Best of luck!

    Hey Wendy,

If I only had an hour a day, I would go get a domain and a small hosting package. You can find some for about $4-$8.

Then put up a wordpress blog, go out and find some affiliate products that you know about, used, etc ... Then write product reviews about each product. Be sure to give good points as well as bad, so the reviews are worth reading. It will add credability for you.

You can write one review a day for a product, and 1 article to submit to article directories with a bio box with the link to your blog in it that goes to the specific product review you just wrote.

Do this during the week, and then write a short report during the weekends for the first couple of weeks. Once you get a couple of them written, sign up for an autoresponder account, create a list, get a subscription form from your autoresponder account, and paste it into your blog, and then offer the PDFs (reports) to people who want to subscribe so you can start building a list.

Before you put the subscription form up on the blog, be sure to write a welcome message, and your first newsletter. You can spend the other weekends on creating your newsletters. You can start grooming your list for the first couple of weeks or so.

If you have time over the weekend after writing your newsletter issues, start building backlinks to that blog.

This will at least get you started.

Try answering 5 -10 questions a day on yahoo answers to promote an affiliate product on your blog/website. Keep doing that on a daily basis and you can see the money coming in. Infact I wrote a small report on this subject a while ago and released it as a wso

Well, if you're a fast typer, I'd social network for an hour on various sites.

You can also write 4 articles a day to promote your affiliate products.

Or create a new niche wordpress blog every other day, rotating writing blog posts.

There are also tons of program available that help you simplify your workload. I would check the WSO forum.

    And... outsource!

      Quite simple,
Since you are already into ebay and affiliate marketing i will advise that you automate your work online.

Autopilot really works if you do it right way and use the right tools.
This way, you will take the bulk of the job off your shoulder and only go to check once in a while and yet get great results.

When you use halfagain.com products like blogsolution you can do this quite easily, i have been using it with great results.

Once set up it will create blogs and fill it with content automatically from any rss source of your choice. It also have several other advance features, that makes the whole thing so natural.

With your imagination you can do wonders with this tool.
They also have some other products in autopilot line that you can use.

They also have a discount of 20% off the product price( or even any of their products) if you use this special code; LUCKYYOU4000589. I hope the discount is still available, because it is for a limited time. Please try and use it before other people grab the opportunity ahead of you.

I hope you will find your solution in this.
