Removing WHOIS data, How to?

Hi

I have cancelled my domain, however my details are still appearing on the WHOIS database, which is something I don't want.

How can I change this very quickly?

My domain was bought from 1and1

Please advise

I don't think you can - at least not until someone else buys it.

I think you should wait 48 hours until it becomes deactivated and after it should become again available for registration. The thing was not to cancel, but delete it without asking for refund.

The site no longer exists, 48 hours is this a rule of thumb. I am just wondering where you got this information from?

      Thanks!

I think if you have cancelled your account with 1and1 before your domain is up for renewal, you are still the owner of that domain and therefore your details still appear on the WHOIS data.
I do not know what will appear on the WHOIS data once your domain has expired.

        Hope this helps

I did a quick Google search and found this:

What domain names are available to be registered?
In order to check what domain names are available to be registered you can use our free on-line search facility - called WHOIS - which enables an enquirer to find out whether a domain name is available and, if not, the organisation or person to whom it is registered, and when that registration was made.

The WHOIS data is updated from the register approximately every five minutes.

Why are you so concern about your info. I think since you have cancelled and when the domain name will expire, you will be remove from the WHOIS. Or Just call them and ask.

There is a big reason why I always use the whois guard of namecheap...
