I'm stuck. What do I do next? Help please!

Hello Warriors. I am starting this thread in hopes to get some help/advise on what to do next for my WordPress Amazon review website. I started the website approximately 8-9 months ago as part of an Amazon coaching program that I did through a member on the WF. I am in a niche with about 62,000,000 results. My site floundered around page 15 to page 20 for some time and then slowly began creeping upward to around page 6 through 8. Recently my site moved up to the page 2 to 3 area and within the last week it has even been appearing in the 8th position on the 1st page. I was pretty aggressively back-linking initially and did so for about the first 3 or 4 months and then less and less and have done very little for the past 2-3 months. The only other SEO I have done is submitting about 12 original content articles to EZA and a couple of other directories only after submitting to my website and waiting until they indexed on my site. I am thrilled with the progression of my site but I can't figure out why my site has moved to the position it is now in with so little SEO compared to what I read others doing. I would like opinions about what I should do next as I would like to continue to see my site progress as this is the first and only site I have ever done. I have no adsense and have had only a couple of sales from click throughs to Amazon. I thank you in advance for any and all advice and suggestions.

First of all, congratulations on your ranking! It is difficult to say why you are doing so well exactly, without the stats. At a guess, I would think that you must have targeted just the right combination of keywords for your market when the competition are out of date or out of touch. If you have Google analytics on the site, then you can see exactly where your traffic is coming from. This will allow you to build on your success and broaden your appeal.
As far as increasing the click through rate, there are many possibilities, but again without the site in front of me, I can only guess. Is it possible that you are attracting a general browsing crowd and not buyers? That sounds silly, but what I mean is some keywords will attract visitors who have credit cards at the ready. Specific product names, for example, or KEYWORD +'review' are the type of searches made by buyers as opposed to moochers. Again, keyword tracking will help you refine and develop your site to gain more sales.

      Hope that helps a bit.

First off, you need to make sure that your website is actually ranking where you think it's ranking. Do so by clearing your browser's temporary files and signing out of your Google account before searching again. This is necessary because Google tries to personalize your results and will move a site you are visiting frequently higher on your results.

The reason I think you're moving up in the rankings is because you aren't using mass link building techniques. Google's SPAM team is focused on identifying these mass link building schemes and eliminating the value. So by you focusing on just getting some good quality links here and there you are actually moving up.

From this point on I would do more of the same. Focus on just getting 10-15 solid backlinks per month. Once you get ranked really high for some highly targeted keyword phrases that have good intent to buy, you will be in a position to make some decent money (whether that's through Amazon commissions or selling your own products).

    Good luck!!

Thanks for your feedback. I did clear my internet files and sign out of my Google account and as of today I am in position 8 on the first page. I will continue to do more of the same or I guess the phrase is "rinse and repeat" and see how it goes.

I guess being inexperienced I just wanted some feedback from others who have had similar experiences. I want to do the correct things to keep myself on page 1 without over doing it to the point I get bounced. Thanks. Jimmy

        good answer.

and by not over-doing it... you're getting those results!

Backlink diversity is the answer you're looking for.

If article directory links are the only ones you have....

Social media "likes" , .doc sharing sites and others methods with potential.. TRAFFIC

is where I'd focus SOME time (not much more than you already are)

Sounds like you're off to a great start tho, congrats & good luck
