Just wondering how I will protect my online product once it distributed. There are 100% chances that it will be available for free on Warez and blackhat sites.

What is DMCA notice?, How can it issue it to Warez?

Any any other sources to avoid it?

thanks

  • DMCA notice google it....ul get the details. Ask your network to apply the blacklisted buyers list on your product to avoid these incidents. Then trust universe will take care of the rest.

  • You can't protect your online product from determined
    thieves and hackers.

However, you can take precautions to mimimize the
chances that your online product ends up on those
    sites.

    For example...

House your download files in a protected membership
area so that outsiders can't access your files as easily.

Make sure that your download links are non-web
accessible so that they can't be indexed in the
search engines or passed around on the Internet.

However, make sure that your file protection process
is not so onerous that it puts off or punishes your
    paying customers.

In fact, spend the majority of your time and focus on
people who DO want to pay you money rather than
worrying too much about those who don't.

So, take precautions - yes. But don't waste too much
    time on it.

Instead, focus on serving your new customers to the
best of your abilities so they are happy with their
purchase and want to buy from you again and again...

    Dedicated to mutual success,

    Shaun

  • thanks Shaun for in depth review of your experience.
  • In reality you can not 100% protect your content. Just take steps on protecting your content the best you can. The posters right, its best to focus on your current customers and growing them.
  • Shaun's right. It's pretty much impossible to prevent people hacking your online products completely, so just do what you can and move on to your next product/project. Somebody I know just released a WSO and it was up for grabs on a blackhat site within hours!
  • This is a very big question and there is no simple answer. First, there is no way to really protect yourself from knock-offs worldwide, that's too big of a task and is impossible, you need to focus on getting some basic IP rights in place in your country, which I presume is the US. first, you should determine whether your product is eligible for a utility or design patent, meet with a patent attorney or agent, and if its eligible subject matter and an initial search of prior art shows that it isn't already on the market , publicly known, or covered by an existing patent, then go ahead with the patent application process.
  • The question is indeed relevant. Unfortunately, the web is inevitably dangerous, no real means of protection. This is also why the web is moving towards the free (see other post)
  • That's the sad part. Even some of the best Internet Marketers are struggling to protect products which they have conceived with really great effort, from thieves and black-hat sites. I don't really see a working solution to this right now.
  • As stated above, it's never possible to protect your product 100%. A determined person will always find a way to share your work, by sharing download links, logins, passwords, even uploading the whole thing to their own servers and sharing it from there. Imho blackhat forums are to blame, not the individuals. Those forums are the public arena where masses come to get illegally shared content. If they weren't in existence, the problem would still exist, but on a much smaller scale.

Luckily, most folks have no idea they can get your product for free somewhere else, or their ethics are in the right place and they will still buy from you. Focus on them. They should still give you a good chunk of money if your product is real value.

If you really want to get proactive with weeding out the thieves, do a google search for [get] yourproductname, let's say once a week. If your product is popular, you'll find links to illegal downloads on the first page of google. If they share your files on a file sharing site, report to that site the file is breaching copyright laws and they'll take it down. It won't take care of all the problems, but might help some.

    • It's sad we cannot protect our product online but here, I normally add some codes to make my download link page look like this
http://sitename.com/downloadpage738920j, then it will be difficult for someone to get access to the download page. Learn this from John Thornhill.

  • There are a number of different methods software developers use to protect their applications but rarely are the techniques shared in an open/public forum (for obvious reasons). Your best bet is to attend a software developer conferences or build personal relationships with other developers to get the best answers in a private forum.
  • It becomes hard to 100% save your product from illegal distribution or piracy still if you find any unauthorized distribution you can contact those website owner or hosting service provider for removal request.
  • Shaun is right, upload it on a site with Premium memberships. Hackers are most likely using tools to search for a particular software online such as those rapid library
  • There are certain aspects I will not put in a report of any kind. Things like my traffic funnels can only be obtained from me in a one on one setting. I believe this will be the norm in the future. The basic stuff will be available for download but the advanced tactics will be available only through one on one coaching.

That still doesn't protect everything but when you go to that level your customer is also on another level and most on that level cares little about ruining their new profitable tactic they have learned.
