Word press newbie questions

I have two wordpress related questions. I set up a wordpress blog using fantastico. I want to do some internal seo optimization.

1.)I'am using a custom template and created a navigation bar with titles such as "links" and "videos". However whenever i scroll over them i dont see the name links or videos in the title bar instead i see http://www.mydomain.com/?page_id=12 how can i change this to make it look like http://www.mydomain.com/blogs

2.)Also since i want to create a presell page on my site but i dont want customers to be distracted by all the other info on my site so i would like to create a blank page that i can customize is this possible considering i have wordpress installed via fantastico ? If it is possible how would i go about doing it?

Sorry if the questons are overly simply im getting the hang of im slowly but surely but all this hosting stuff is a pain.

Thanks for your help

    Yep it's possible

    1. go to settings/permalinks and change from default to something else (preferably %post_name%)

    2. Simply upload an html file in your wordpress folder and it'll work.

      2. Thanks for your answer. What steps do i have to take to upload the html file to my wordpress folder?

Right what you need is the permalinks plugin and it will automatically do it for you once you originally set it up. Ive got a free wordpress ebook and it will show you exactly what you need:

With your second question, I'd recommend Andrew Seltz's sales page for Wordpress template. It's available here: WP-SalesPage for WordPress - This is a template for a blank sales page that you can integrate into your wordpress theme (I'm not an affiliate, just a happy customer). I found it so easy to set up following Andrew's clear and well laid out instructions.

    Hope this helps.

Audrey, I appreciate the kind words about my template.

I just want to add that it can be used with multiple pages on your blog so you can use it to create a sales page sequence (one of my customers created an amazing multi-part sales sequence and created links at the bottom of each page to the next in the sequence.)

I'm pretty sure you don't need any kind of html file. Just change your permalink structure to /%postname%/

There were 2 questions. The permalinks answer was for the first q. The other one was for the plain html file that won't interact with the blog.

Go to your cpanel > file manager > upload and upload your html presell page to your public_html folder. I personally use an ftp client (FileZilla).

    Hope this helps
