Pinterest vs Tumblr and others

Man, there's so many of these new web 2 like Pinterest.
Seems they are really hot?

Am interested, but don't want to put in alot of time for something new, that might be a fad.

How does it compare to Tumblr or others?
Which still currently gives good traffic, with the least amount of work?

Any quick how to guides for making money on these?

Pinterest is the big upcoming player in my opinion. It's the only social site that's actually not a chore to use. Your mileage may vary of course.

Ya, you can easily lose hours on there.
But the thing is, it seems its quick click in, quick click out.
Conversion rate to whatever you trying to sell is probably bad.

Is Tumblr still the King, besides the twitter and fb type?

You're right, there are a lot of new web 2.0's out there. But Pinterest has to be the biggest newcomer. It's already at rank #3 in the social network list.

This is the amount of visits that the top social networks had in March 2012

    1. Facebook: 7 billion
    2. Twitter: 182 million
    3. Pinterest: 104 million
    4. LinkedIn: 86 million
    5. Tagged: 72 million
    6. Google+: 61 million

So ye, i'd take advantage of it.

A better option is to lead traffic to your website and make people opt in on an e-mail list. You're right on the low conversion rate when it comes to directly linking to products.

Pinterest is great for getting traffic to your own site, but be careful sending traffic to affiliate links as they are replacing your id with their own.

Just send them back to your website like everyone else does.

Get on Pinterest and spend some time looking at what everyone else is pinning...then tweak that and offer some unique content!

Pinterest is the fastest growing social site and most internet marketers are already there. If you don't have time you can find VAs who will do your postings for you.
