I have been researching about the IM from the programs and ebooks I have purchased over the past 2 years but have not really gone really into it. As a newbie, I am very interested about being an affiliate to start off but there were some questions which I need some advice to

1. Which is a better option, being affiliate to physical or digital products? I favor digital products but I do read that they have a high refund rate, is that true?

2. Anyone had a good idea on how best to find a niche?

3. I have also read a fair bit about Squidoo lens and how Google loves them. I am caught between setting up a blog vs making a Squidoo lens.

Any advice from members are greatly appreciated thanks!

I would create a blog. It's your own piece of internet real estate. Plus you can make it a 100% no cost operation. I personally favor digital products as an affiliate. Commissions are high, and the refund rate is rare for a good product in a particular niche. I would give it a shot.

Couldnt agree more. Create your own blog and know your digital product. Overdeliver on your content...particularly if your product is informational. I promote both in and out of the "make money online" niche. There are some phenomenal affiliate tools that you can both use to market your affiliate products and promote as well for residual income. Look around. Youll find them.

I can only go off what has worked for us and that is creating products and doing everything we can to build a buyers list and promote to proven buyers. Just my 2 cents

Blogs are great and lens are great too! Why not do both..have the lens pointing to the blog which is where your offer is or the link to it is.

    1. Physical Products are better in my opinion because of the lower refund rate.

    2. GO to Amazon.com and randomly search through products, pick 5 and do some keyword research.

    3. Blog is a better option in my opinion.

    Hope it helps!!

    Best of luck to you!

    My opinion:

    1) Physical Products are the better and more feasible option when it comes to promotion as well as the lesser refund rates. Being an Amazon affiliate (the way I see it!) has a lot more credibility attached to it as compared to one who promotes digital products.

    2) Fundamental research on search engines, inspection of top sellers and best rated products on Amazon etc. are the best ways to find a niche.

    3) Blog. Period.

I would lean towards physical products...Amazon gives you great starting points with their best seller lists. Take the time to learn keyword research so that you can build your site around keywords that have good monthly volume. Electronic items tend to be very competitive so consider looking at the non electronic items for your starting points.

Google still loves Wordpress sites so work on developing your site on a Wordpress platform.

Digital products will offer you more reward for your marketing effort. This is because the commission percentages are usually high

Don't go into the IM or MMO niche, whatever you do. You're clearly a noob so it would be counter productive to go into a competitive niche like that when you're starting out...you'll only set yourself up for failure.

Also, I'd go with amazon except my state is gay and doesn't allow me to be an AZ affiliate. So check the law first. Otherwise, check out commission junction for physical products...they're really tight on affiliate applications but you might get approved in a network. for digital, you got CB, EJ, and JVZOO.

Everyone else has the right idea here: buy a few domain names, start a blog, create a few landing pages, write, write, write, and drive traffic to your landing pages to build your list.

If you need immediate sales, join a forum related to the niche you choose (not this one), engage with the community there, when you can put a nice sig with a link back to a product in that niche. Also, leave cool comments with a link in the appropriate section (not the body of the comment!)

I think it's better to start with digital products. I don't think they have that high refund rate, you just have to choose products that really provide some value and that are not scam.

Choosing a niche...first think about things that interest you and things you are passionate about. This is not mandatory, but I think you could do a lot better if you choose a niche that interests you and you already know something about. For example, if you just quit smoking, this may be the niche for you.

Squidoo vs Blog - why not doing both?

    Regards

It depends on whether you want to own and control your own business and its website, or have one you can never yourself own and control, with which you'll always be subject to someone else's ever-changing terms of service, impositions, restrictions, and so on, without your even getting any "extra benefits" from that arrangement. It's a nice, easy decision.

Alternatively, if you want to do two websites, why not own and control both of them yourself instead of only one?

QUALITY QUALITY QUALITY. If the product is truly valuable show some passion in your content and tell your audience why they want or need "your" product. Be honest and be informative. And if the product is average or below avg....dont promote it. Be proud of your products!

Do both, than you get to ways of traffic which means more backlinks to your website (if you have one) and more traffic to any site you promote

Physical products are better to promote for sure and try to own your website not hosted on blogger because if they go down so does your business plus you could sell the website down the road and make some cash.

Finding a niche is easy, just choose something you are interested in because than it is much more motivating for you. That's why my first niche was basketball/sport. for example

For promotion I like to do digital because you have higher commisions, but I also promote physical products. As for basketball I let people know when there is a discount on basketballs for example.
