Article Directory Author Pen Names Bio's

I was just wondering how you all deal with filling in pen name author details that are requested by some of the article directories?

For instance, do you invent a persona to use complete with a picture?

And if so, where do you get the picture from?

Thanks
Mark

Yes, you use different pen names for different sites. You can get stock photos from many different sites, such as iStockPhoto. You can even find some free stock photo sites you can use to get author images.

Is that allowed - strictly speaking?

It's one of my concern too right now. I have to find a photo for my pen name I use at ezine and whether they allow it.

It would be good if more Warriors could chip in with some advice on what to do?
          Thanks

I have created a persona for the two pen names that I have (thus far). As far as a picture goes, I just find volunteers amongst my friends. The two I have recruited are happy that they get to be seen as "experts" at something.

That's a can of worms on its own. There are arguments for both sides of the issue. I don't really see a problem with it though. My readers and customers get answers to their problems or assistance with their hobbies. That is what is important in the end.

Pen names are a well established literary tool as well. I personally feel that if they were considered that large of a menace, they would have been stamped out by now.

I market in several niches. In my IM blog and here I am myself; what you see is me. (I had a good laugh just a few days ago when someone replied to a post on my personal blog and said he thought I was Alexa Smith using a pen name .) In other niches I adopt personas. I don't want people who follow and buy from me in niche A to discover me later in niche B. It would damage their confidence in my expertise and therefore dilute their trust.

For each niche I invent a whole new character, complete with a picture which I pick up from Can Stock Photo (love 'em.) Ezine Articles allows numerous profiles under each account.

There is nothing wrong with this, it's the path most IMers follow if they build several niches.

      Anne,

I thought everyone might be doing this but i felt a bit uncomfortable about it.

It would be a much better rule for the article directories if they were to accept avatars for pen names.

OK well at least i know what to do now.

      Thanks Everyone
