Why is my website ranking improving?

Slightly confused here and hope someone can shed some light.

I have my money site which is a static HTLM website with a sales page - it was never SEO'd.

I then recently built a blog for the purpose of driving traffic to the money site. I have been over the last few weeks being adding an article a day to to the blog.

I have noticed that since doing this the traffic to my blog has increased a little - Great!

What I have noticed even more so is that my HTLM "money site" is suddently receiving a increase in traffic alittle from my blog but alot more from google "organic" traffic. I have then seen my HTLM money site ranking on page 1 and 2 for some keywords.

I am just abit baffled why adding articles to my blog would increase the ranking of my money site??? My blog is obviously linked to this site so is it then passing on some SEO benefit to this website?

I am certainly not complaining but just want to understand what is going on!!

    Very possible that sites ahead of you are getting dinged by Google. There have been a lot of updates to the algo lately.

    The thing is Google Bot is very smart. As it saw that your blog is linked with your money site so the bot made an index, analyses your money site's keywords and provide you ranking.

    Honestly speaking google always tries to take every site to its database to be the most popular search engine.
